Love the park! Sites are close together and it's a tad run down (like many AL State Parks) but it's dark and quiet at night and the sunrise over the lake is beautiful! - MSSW

I was able to make reservations after repeated calls. This indicated to me that no one is there the majority of time. Despite leaving many messages I was never called back. I kept trying and finally got someone. The road to the park was very narrow. I did not see how any RV coming and going could pass on that particular road. That was quite a concern. Then I arrived at the office and no one was there. A note said just find a place and someone would be by to collect the money. I used the restroom at the office and they were very dirty and the toilet didn't flush. The lots seem very close with narrow distances between the lots. It had a beautiful lake nearby but with the entrance in and out being a safety concern, the condition of the office facilities and the lots not being what I found favorable, I turned around and left and found a private campground. I was very disappointed as I had read such favorable reviews. This campground is on my list of places not to return to. - HMathis58

The spaces were level and long enough for my 42 ft 5th wheel and still had my truck in front. The spaces are within 50 feet of the water and each space had a campfire ring, picnic table, fantastic water pressure and full sewer hookups. There were no bright lights so the view of the stars at night was great. The park is first-come, first serve and they do not take reservations. Lots of folks seem to like this place for horseback riding - as we have seen several trailers show up and folks head up on the trails on horseback. The roads were easy to navigate. This park was re-opened recently and the local county and local folks have taken over management from the state and they're making it very comfortable. There are no trains, roads or other noises to bother you and it's great for fishing or just relaxing. - Don Self

I was the only rv there besides a pop up in a different area. Host said I could choose a different spot since not many campers. But all the waterfront sites looked fine to me. The park is well kept and easy to move around in a large rv. It has a fence because of the steep bank of the beautiful river. No major roads are near, it was very quiet. the host was extremely accomodating. Nice park. - maine charactor

Lovely park, host took us in her van to the best site in park. Lot 15. Rate reflects America the Beautiful senior rate. Get local directions. GPS won't get you there. 5 miles on old paved road. Started to turn around several times, but glad I didn't. This place is a gem! - Genecolleen
Apr 2013 - $18.00
This is a nice COE park with large trees, large sites, kids playgrounds and access to fishing. This is a very nice park and apparently is only full during summer weekends. They even have laundry facilities. What great value. It would be a nice place to spend some time and television is available via antenna. Access signage is a little inadequate so be sure you have good local directions. It is best to come from the Selma entrance. We would certainly stay again if in the area. - lrp374

Like most COE campgrounds, Prairie Creek has generous sized campsites which are laid out well in the campground. All sites have concrete pads with a gravel sitting area bordered by timbers and are level. The sites typically have a picnic table, fire ring, stand-up grill and a lantern hanger. Some have wooden decks or docks. Most sites are water sites. There are also large flat and level play fields in the campground that are maintained for kite flying, ball play, etc. While there is no designated dog walk area, there are many acres of woods and fields for that purpose. The campground also has a designated fish cleaning house, a boat ramp, playground, basketball court and pavilion for group gatherings. The showers have real faucets (no push buttons), but are not heated or air conditioned. The tree canopy is broken, so use of a portable satellite dish is possible at most sites. Their campground is in the coverage area for several OTA major network TV stations. Verizon coverage is 2-3 bars. If you are into tent camping, this campground has 6-8 very nice tent campsites in an isolated area along the water complete with power (15 amp), water and a picnic table. There are no grocery stores within 10-15 miles of the campground other than a small convenience type store a few miles away. This campground is popular for fishing and family groups. The dump station is in good shape. The interior roads are wide and smooth. - Bama Camper

Sep 2018 - $12.00
Loved this beautiful park. No cell service Verizon and no wifi but gorgeous place to stay. - Gloria S.
Jan 2019 - $40.00
Weekly rate was $176. Park is located among lots of trees. The wifi hotspot was located too far away for me to use it. T-Mobile service was spotty inside the camp ground. Propane was $24. It's a nice looking place with a lot of pull thru sites. The sites are all gravel but were level. The staff is very friendly. - txtinman
Oct 2018 - $34.00
Friendly people in this Mom & Pop campground. We were there just after Hurricane Michael and many sites were occupied by Floridian refugees. I was happy that the owner had contacted me to keep my reservation on, considering the special situation with the families searching a secure place while the hurricane destroyed a part of the Panhandle. The sites are mostly partly shaded and clean. Great place to visit Montgomery. - Lucette de Gagn

It was Halloween weekend - we had been getting repairs in GA so no reservation ahead of time. We were so lucky to find this campground, definitely a work in progress but what a gem! Spacious wooded nice sites. The staff was friendly gave us info about what to see in this part of the country. She took us to our spot up top. We enjoyed our stay would come again if in the area. - pam.4him
