This park worked very well for us. CASH ONLY. $22 for electric only which included 20, 30, and 50 amp and the power, water, and sewer worked great. $33 for FHU. Gravel parking lot and fairly level, very close to others, with some trees, some picnic tables, and some fire pits. This is a do-it-yourself campground, no office, store, restrooms, laundry, just parking spots and self pay. We were able to make reservations by calling ahead, but we never saw any campground service people. There is a very small airport nearby so you get occasional small plane noise, and the ADOT service yard was next door so also some truck noise, nothing from the highway a block or two away, overall very quiet and very dark for night sky viewing. Access was easy and marked well along the highway, gravel road that was wide and in good condition to get into the park. I highly recommend this park if you are going to leave your camper to take the drive to McCarthy to stay at the hotel there for a night or two, best deal I have found in AK for power hookups. We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

After being in Anchorage and then Valdez (both for the second time on our trip), Chitina and this rv park were very different experience. We stopped here on the way out of Valdez and during a hot weather spell, the electric hook up was a major plus. The rv park is right down by the airport and river. We met great fisherman who were attending their fish wheel. We learned a great deal about fishing on this trip. Fishing and glaciers and copper mines. We stayed two nights while we drove into McCarthy and Kennicott. There is a good NP office where a salt lick brings moose. The rv park is very small and only a few sites but we got one of the open ones for a couple nights with no reservations. No cell, no OTA channels and the little town of Chitina has not much so be prepared. Best spot for seeing Kennicott though. We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Drop fifth wheel to go into McCarthy and Kennicott for the day. NP has a good cd to listen to while the long drive goes by. Watch for dip net fishing on the banks, talk to the locals at the fish wheels to learn about the area. Hike the Root glacier and see the kennicott - really cool hike but long - walk on the glacier

This is a very basic RV park which is unattended. They do take reservations if you e-mail them or use their Facebook page to message them; reservations are posted on the pedestals. The spots are a little narrow, so folks with slides may not be able to also extend awnings. Spots 4 and 5 are pull through, but the rest are back in (or pull in). Sewer worked great, and they have 20/30/50 amp service. It is the only campground in the area with full hookups, and the price is very good. Right next to the airport if you flightsee or fly to McCarthy. They do offer a dumpsite too for $15 We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is very small and as the previous review stated, big rigs getting in and out is tight. We were surprised when we plugged in and had 50 amps! We did not use the water as we could not see where the water was coming from. This park is 5 - 6 miles before you get to Chitina. There is one site #12 which is by the small building that will hold a big rig, no problem. There are no bathrooms or showers on the premise. There also is no office on premise. You have to pay cash or check in an envelope like at a state park and place in a container. If there are problems, there is no one to go to and there is not any cell service at the park or telephone near by. By the way it you are going to McCarthy/Kennicott it is a very long way there on a dirt road. Took about 2 hours to get there at about 35 - 45 MPH. We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Okay base camp for exploring Kennicott and the edge of the Wrangell - St. Elias National Park. Campsites are rocky and only approximately level, but they have FHU's, including 50 amp! I only saw one site that could maybe be called pull-through, and I think really big rigs might be a little cramped here. It's pretty much parking lot camping, except the "parking lot" was practically empty. Nice view of mountains and Copper River Valley. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is for a water and 30 amp electric back-in site. FHU sites as well as no hookup sites are also available. Very rough graded rocky park on the side of a hill with an Iron Ranger instead of an attendant. Restroom is a port-a-potty, though they do have water fill and waste dump. If you are visiting McCarthy-Kennecott this is the only park with hookups within miles. It does live up to its name and the views of Mt Wrangell are awesome. If you're not expecting much, this park will serve as a adequate base camp for visiting the area. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Wrangell View RV Park in a Motorhome.
