Made a reservation for an "A" site and it is first come, first served for any "A" site available. We checked in the day before and received our paperwork so all we had to do was show up the next day and pick a site. Check in is at Riley for all three campgrounds. Denali has an excellent though busy dump/fill facility. That area had received lots of rain before our visit and some of the sites and the roads had standing water. Did not use showers, laundry, or bathrooms. We would stay here again. - roadking
Jul 2019 - $15.00
We stayed 4 nights in Teklanika and 3 nights here. If I was going to do it all over again I would stay all 7 nights in Riley Creek. The campground is located near the entrance and close to the main activity center. The sites are well spaced and fairly private. The access roads are good but some sites are more difficult to enter. Sites vary quite a bit, get here early for best selection. We arrived about 10 AM and many of the previous campers had left. There is a laundry and shower facility adjacent to the Bear loop near the store. - linnemj
Jun 2019 - $15.00
Beautiful park, well managed. No hookups but paved well-spaced sites. Took the bus ride into the interior and it was worthwhile as the day was sunny and Denali was 'out'. Some wildlife, including dall sheep, caribou and grizzly bears at a distance. Eight hour trip. - mockturtle

While this campground has pull throughs they may not be "big rig friendly".
They curve a great deal and some have close trees.
Since all you reserve is an A (larger) or B (smaller) you might not get a "good" site for your size rig.
Arrive early (check in starts at 11am) or plan on Riley Creek (actually arrive early there too) - wetterwashington
Jun 2016 - $14.00
We booked the first 3 nights in a row we found when we checked for reservations 2 weeks in advance. You have to book thru system so be somewhere with a good connection and you have to setup an account. You are charged $10/person entry fee and then given a refund for America the Beautiful pass if you go to Backcountry Wilderness Center (not Visitors Center). Be aware that if someone cancels they do NOT release the site; we had many sites around us that were not occupied. Deanali is manical about "preserving nature". Not encouraging about hiking on your own and you must take an expensive ($35-70) bus trip or tour to get past the first 15 miles and close to Denali. If the weather is bad you won't see it. Savage River loop trail was nice hike as was the Horseshoe Lake trail. Our spot had picnic table and fire pit (but no fires were allowed); nearby toilets and bear proof garbage. Quite hours after 10pm and generator only 11-2 and 4-8. No cell reception (Verizon) at campground. Surrounded by trees and shrub no views. Showers, laundry, flush toilets at check in location. - AGalinAZ
Jun 2016 - $11.00
We visited Savage River CG while staying at Riley Creek CG and wanted to give an update since the last review was in 2010. We didn't see anything to change from earlier reviews. This is a much nicer and quieter CG than Riley Creek. Great hiking trails within 1/4 mile of CG. The main down side is, no cell phone signal (Verizon), so no internet from our MiFi device. Many of the campsites have a view of the mountains. CG fees are $22 & $28 with 50% off for senior pass. "A" campsites are for RV's over 30' & "B" sites are for under 30'. Not all "B" sites will take a 29" RV and not all "A" sites will take a 40' RV. Arrive by noon for best selection of campsites. Fill your water tank and dump at Riley Creek CG before coming to Savage River. Signs at water spigots request that you not fill your RV water tank. You MUST get your camping pass at the Wilderness Access Center (WAC) or Riley Creek Mercantile before going to Savage Creek CG. - A-S_Travels

After stopping to visit Talkeetna, we had these inside the park reservations. This is the furthest you can drive into Denali with your rig and it was WELL WORTH THE TRIP. We got reservations back in March for July 12th (4 nights) and that was a perfect length of stay. No services, no cell anywhere in the park. Nothing but nature. We got there by 11 to check in (which took a bit of time) and then drove the mainly dirt road to the campsites. Two loops so we found a good back in with plenty of room and stayed hooked up the entire time with a level spot. Loved the area and fact that only a few people get to travel this far into the park. It makes the bus trip so much better by being able to get on an hour into the park instead of at the visitor center. Be prepared though with food etc. Would wait until maybe end of July or early August to do this again as the blue berries were just turning ripe. Used our generator for a few hours each day to recharge. Had downloaded netflix and prime to watch at night. - FrancisandRenee
Jul 2018 - $13.00
Well worth making a reservation far in advance for this highly-desirable spot in Denali. The campground is beautiful, and has super-nice hosts. We enjoyed walking along the river as the vast views made for a little less bear concerns. It definitely helps shorten up the shuttle times into the park. We booked a trip in advance to Wonder Lake and saw quite a few animals in spite of rainy weather. Because of the weather , we left a day early. There's no running to the store, so come prepared! And no cell signal at all. Total peace and quiet! - Bernalillo_Girl
Jun 2018 - $13.00
29 miles into Denali NP, the farthest into the park that RVs are allowed to camp. Clean vault toilets only; no showers. A few water spigots are in the camp. Sites are close to level mostly back-in. Some short, some very long. Specific sites are FCFS so arrive as early as you can for best choice. Minimum 3-day stay. Forested area close to braided Teklanika river. - TheBreeze

This was a horrid RV park. Would give it a 0 if that was possible. The CG is behind a shopping center with lots of dusty dirt. The CG is all dust and rock. Sites so tight that our awning could touch our neighbor. But that’s not the worst. The trash was always overflowing with huge ravens and seagulls pulling it out of the bins. And the sewer was bubbling out of pipes. Very unsanitary and stunk to high heaven. The owner stopped by and said he noticed it bubbling but did nothing. We were, unfortunately, there for 6 nights so he had plenty of time for us to observe. He said he has it pumped once mid-season and again at the end. Absolutely no where near enough times. Workers were uninterested and personality flat at check in but with that kind of CG what could be expected. The roads were tight and clutter with vehicles, dumpsters, etc. if someone is using the dumping station others are very challenged to exit by camper or car. People kept walking between sites because there was no other way to get to the bathrooms and showers. Thankfully we have big tanks so we didn’t use any of that but I saw a sign to purchase tokens. At the CG site price of over $50/nite, facilities should be without additional cost. Why did we stay? Everything else near Denali was booked and they had our money. No refund for any reason and they were kind of nasty with that statement. Would NEVER EVER stay here again. Ruined our impression of Denali National Park. - FT Travelers3
Jul 2019 - $56.00
If you can get by with 30 amps, there are better options elsewhere. Two entrances. The one at the traffic light is very congested and confusing, having to drive thru the gas station and general store parking area. We think the better option is turning into the RV park on Sourdough. RV office is in the middle of a very tight, congested park. Staff were very pleasant. Narrow gravel roads made worse by cars parking perpendicular to their RVs. Narrow sites, most looked fairly level to us. Tight sites, no privacy, probably not getting your awnings out. About 10 cable channels, although most channels the picture breaks up badly. Good cell signal. WiFi very good BUT you only get 30 minutes a day on just one device. Plans available like daily @ $20, 2 day @ $35. They say not to use a water pressure regulator, if you do your hose will leak. Not sure why; we only saw a back flow preventer on the faucet. Not comfortable NOT using a regulator. Our water pressure stunk. The RV park is right behind a long row of cute shops and a boardwalk; in fact a row of back in sites back right in to their back doors. Restrooms were o.k. Biggest reason for the score is the power issue. 2 outages at our rig. The RV park is not equipped to provide adequate energy when the weather gets hot. All 50 amp sites were asked to operate as though they were a 30 amp site, limiting A/C to one unit and curtailing other power draws, yet no refund or anything for not being able to use the site as intended. Dump station poorly situated causing more congestion. No great place to unhook or hook back up. - VegasVagabonds
Jul 2017 - $48.00
I had a gravel, back in site that took two 1 inch boards and one 1/2 inch board to bring my trailer to level. The pull through spots have electric & water only. The Park is a gravel parking lot, that jams the trailers in. AT&T worked well. The WI-FI was horrible. Nobody in our group could hook up to the WI-FI. The best thing is this is the closest RV Park to Denali with hookups. The location, in my mind, off sets all the negatives about the park. - travelcouple

We were very happy with this park. It was the end of August so the park was not full since Denali would be shutting down in the second week of September. Staff were very helpful and informative. We were able to pick our site since there were so many available so we did have a lot of room. And we were able to see the Northern Lights while we were there. Short distance to Denali Park and to Healy for shopping. Some sites not very level but ours was fine. Great little park! - Roaming Fishnuts
Aug 2019 - $54.00
no discounts available, spaces are very very tight but overall a good experience, park is very clean and there is a great public bbq area. no transportation to the town of Denali and 6 miles to any shopping. - Linda M
Jul 2019 - $35.00
The park was nice and clean but the campsites were very tight not a lot of room on both sides. Very wooded not cleaned out brush wise. When we got there they had us in a site that would not fit our RV and then wanted to put us Somewhere with no sewer! They did fix the problem and we had a nice spot still very tight and had full hookups. I also have to say the 30 amp service was good.My children were outside playing catch with a football with a couple other kids having a blast. The manager walked up to us and asked us to keep the kids quite but it wasn’t even quiet time yet! In my opinion they are not a kid friendly campground a lot of older folks so if you have children I would not stay here. - Erin OHIO

Like others have said, the RV spaces are mostly cramped back-ins and it is definately NOT big rig friendly. There are only 2 pull-throughs available, sites 31 and 32, which are just long gravel spots at the side of the road with hook-ups and a picnic table. 32 is wider and has some trees and a bit of privacy on the driver's/hook-ups side. Constant foot traffic going up and down the hill next to our rig, plus golf carts and trains to add to the noise The water is okay, but no Verizen cell signal or data. Tengo pay-per-hour wifi is decent but costly. The whole place was continually bustling with the bus tours, no privacy, no quiet; its chief good point is that it was convenient to the Park. Beautiful setting. - DolceFarNiente naturallycurly

I was disappointed that I was unable to book a campground inside the National park, but Grizzly Bear RV Park turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Grizzly Bear is Located 6 miles south of the Denali Park entrance. Most sites are back in's, but there are two pull-throughs, #32 and 31. Site 32 has a large space between your RV and the trees allowing a good deal of privacy to sit outside. There is a lovely wooded area best suited for smaller RV's and tents, though sites 13 & 14 could accommodate large rigs. All sites have a picnic table and many have a BBQ/fire-pit. From the campground there is a path down to the Nenana River which has picnic tables and fire rings. There is laundry, a small convenience store and a small liquor outlet. Also, there are two food trucks on site; one serving Mexican and the other Thai. We looked at Rainbow Village (located 1 mile from the National park entrance), and am so glad they were fully booked as it is simply a big gravel lot behind a strip mall where RV's are lined up side-by-side with no privacy between sites. - driftdiver1
Jul 2017 - $43.00
We spent one night here and it is an okay place. Our site was a pull thru right beside the main road to the quite extensive and new looking motel and had quite a bit of traffic, including the constant back and forth of gas powered golf carts. They have a store onsite, plus there are two food vendors. One a Thai food and the other Mexican food. Both had a lot of customers. My wife liked this place and thought it was "pretty neat" with lots of people out and about. I personally would have preferred a turnout. Our site had electricity and water hookups. I guess we would both recommend this campground over a couple of others we saw in the Denali tourist area that were just parking lots with hookups. - bfisher003

This a small, cramped campground. Sites are not real level but you don't have a lot to choose from here. We had a full hook up spot and everything worked. - roaming around
Jul 2013 - $38.00
There is not much to add to the previous reviews. This is a situation where the owners are trying to maximize the use of this small property during their short season. As long as they have customers they can continue to do so. There is absolutely no effort made to make this more than a cramped gravel parking lot. I gave it a three because of a lady staff member walked our elderly dog while we went on the 12 hour bus ride in Denali. So I'm taking that as a good sign that she did a good job. When I mentioned to the manager that their park had poor reviews she responded that "nobody reads those reviews." - canoeperson
Jun 2013 - $45.00
We were backed up against the shops. Sites aren't very level, lots of noise, and people walking through your site to get to shops. Shops employes walk through your site dragging trash to dumpster. A semi parked in front of our rig for 2 hours starting about 7 am to unload merchandise for shops. There was lots of throwing stuff around in box truck, banging and obsessively noise. We couldn't get out of our site till they left. I had a dental emergency and needed to leave for Anchorage a day early, but their policy is no refunds whatsoever. It is convenient to the park that is the only reason I gave it a 3 - knightab
