The basic campground is, basic, clean, but basic. The outer/upper area is fine for big-rigs Most sites are backup. The cell-service is via GCI, which provides service to Verizon also (not ATT) Wifi is extra ($1/hr, $8/day) Dump and fresh water is free for campers. "Everything Else" is why to stay here (and it almost all costs extra money) The geo-thermal tour was free (all of their power, heat, etc comes from ge0-sources) They even raise their own flowers and food in geo-heated and lite green houses (year around) The hot-spring/pool/shower costs extra (and worth it) There is bikes to rent, atv's to rent, horses to rent, dog-sled rides to rent, canoes to rent, etc. Trails are free to walk or (or use your own bicycle). We camped at Chena Hot Springs Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

You come here for the hot springs. Park is not much and this rainy year had lots of potholes and mud. But, you are here for the hot springs. The dump station is a bit tough for larger rigs (I ended up blocking the road). We camped at Chena Hot Springs Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This hot springs resort and campground is about 60 miles outside of the town of Fairbanks on a good (by Alaska standards) paved road. The reason for going to this campground is to partake of the hot springs and associated activities. There is an indoor pool and two indoor hot tubs and a great outdoor hot pool for adults only. Using the pools is $15 per person per day. There is also an ice carving museum that is well worth seeing. The campground has no hookups, but there is fresh water for filling tanks and a dump station. Some of the sites are in or near a parking lot area; others are a little further away in a wooded area. We chose a wooded site because of the privacy, but these sites would not be suitable for larger RV’s. The turns are too tight and there is vegetation on the sides that can be difficult to navigate. Our Verizon cell phone worked well here, but the Verizon MiFi worked very, very marginally. There is no public WiFi at the resort. Don’t think of this resort as being fancy, it is actually quite rustic and funky. We loved this campground because of the hot springs and because it was nice and quiet at night. We would definitely visit here again. We camped at Chena Hot Springs Resort in a Motorhome.
