When we arrived here the staff was very helpful and friendly. The Palmer map shows the exact location of the CG, no drive through town to get here. The site was a pull through with ample room for the 5th wheel and pickup. Utilities are easy to reach and there is grass between sites. There are lots of RV's passing through, using this CG. There isn't much highway noise and this is a great place to relax. We would definitely stay here again, when in the area. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Level pull through electrical only site. Dump station and water fill available. Wifi worked most of the time. Large clean laundry room. Restrooms and showers were clean. Signs everywhere stating speed limit 5 MPH yet the young camp workers sped around everywhere in the off road vehicles. Spun tires taking off and slid to a stop every time stirring up dust. Was a bite annoying. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was a pull through with 50 amp. We were in site #15 which was close to the road. I found the traffic noise sometimes bothersome late at night or early in the morning. There are pull through on the other side of the park if you can get them. Sites were big enough so I didn't feel like we were stacked on each other. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Went to the Matanuska Glacier and the Musk Oxen Farm. Easy drive to Anchorage for the day and the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Fred Meyers and Walmart are about 6 miles away.

For a campground in Alaska this was wonderful. The gravel road & sites were level and very well maintained. With grassy areas, some trees and landscaping it had a welcoming feel. Some sites were a little narrower but mostly alright, and ours was very long and wide. Our Dish satellite worked just fine. They provide free Wifi that worked alright most of the time. This place is very convenient to Palmer & Wasilla with Anchorage being a day trip away. My only fault is that it is located right off of Hwy 1 so there was some traffic noise, but it died down at night so sleeping was no problem. We were here 8 nights and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We had stayed at Big Bear four years ago when touring Alaska and went back because we liked it then. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The campground sites are set up on concentric circles so if you get on the outside like we did, it was a longer walk to the office, but very peaceful, great grass for our dogs, and lots of room between sites. We highly recommend this campground just north of Anchorage. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are interested in a day trip through Hatcher Pass, this place is perfect because it is near an entrance and on the highway if you go through and come back from Wasilla. It is also very close to Eklutna Lake which is great for kayaking and hiking...but there are bears there...one in the parking lot when we stopped.

Very nice office personnel, quiet and close to shopping and sightseeing. The sites are easily accessible and allow a big turn. The dog walk is all grass and is supplied with bags and a dedicated trash can. Even though the park is close to the highway, it's pretty quiet. The park is well maintained and the utilities are easily accessible. The sites are fairly level and have some grass and shade trees. There are two areas of the park, we stayed in the one with the trees away from the playground which had less grass but was closer to the dog walk. We stayed for three night and then came back a week later for another two night. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a Wal-Mart close by as well as other stores. Good starting point for the musk ox farm, Hatcher Pass and Itidarod center.

This is an excellent campground we would recommend to anyone staying in the Anchorage area. The campground is extremely well-maintained. The laundromat is the best we have seen in Alaska (we've been here for 8 weeks). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were here because of truck problems and the staff made sure we had a place to stay even though we kept extending. I really can't say enough about this campground. The buildings, picnic tables, etc. were freshly painted, the grass was mowed and the fire pits were cleaned. Plus, Wasilla is just down the road for shopping, restaurants, etc. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access from Parks Hwy.; quiet, yet close to shopping, restaurants, etc. Good gravel roads and level, gravel sites. Back row "super sites" are long, wide pull-throughs. Pet-friendly; plenty of grass to walk our dogs. Cable and working WiFi. We would stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects a premium site with the Good Sam Discount. Nice enough park. Adequate room between rigs. Check in person nice. Did not try their WIFI has have our own. Laundry expensive. $3.00 to wash/ $3.00 to dry. Highest we've seen in 5 years of fulltiming. Would stay here again if ever in the area. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is hidden off the Parks Highway but has a nice setup. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Their facilities are clean, and the grounds are cared for. There is lots of room to walk the dogs. Wi-fi was good, and there was nice space between sites. We would definitely recommend this campground and would stay here again. We stayed at this park on two separate occasions. One of the best parks in the Wasilla/Palmer area. Nicely spaced sites, far enough away from the road to not hear traffic noises. Beautiful view of the mountains. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. No charge for showers, laundry very reasonable. If in the area I would definitely stay here again. We stayed here close to two weeks. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a week after staying three nights another park in Anchorage. This location was much better. The host was great even allowing us to borrow some gold pans to try our luck on Hatcher Pass. The newer area was spaced apart and the back in circle was not close parking. The park had grass between sites. A rare thing up here. We were in a 38' fifth wheel with dually truck and had plenty of space. We would return. This is a nice campground with some space between the campers. 30 amp service and had no problems. Free internet (fast and reliable),TV 10 stations using our antenna with good reception. Good location to shopping. Would recommend and will stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a typical Alaska park, a gravel pull-through, but they are super friendly. The washrooms are very clean, the laundry is also. The hosts certainly do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable and take time to greet each person that enters their park. I would certainly stay here again.
