Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Big Bear 4 different times over the last 2 years for a total of 10 nights. In 2017 we stayed in the deluxe pull-thrus, and then one night in site 17 in July, and super site 46 for 5 nights earlier this month. Site 46 was the best, but the other sites were fine as well. Check in is always easy, and the staff is friendly and helpful. All utilities were fine - water pressure and WiFI were average. No cable TV but some OTA channels. No DISH service - satellites too low on horizon and blocked by trees. All sites were level, and road are easily navigable. Pet friendly but no enclosed dog park. Very easy on and off the Parks & Glenn highways. The park setting itself is quite nice, with grass everywhere and a pavilion in the middle with a hammock, plus a kids playground and horseshoes. Very nice campground. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A very nice, comfortable place. Made even nicer with lots of grass, something we've missed as we've traveled the AlCan and Alaska with one gravel parking lot after another. Huge registration area. Pleasant staff. Dirt/gravel roads and sites, with large green grass patio areas. Sites are level. Spacing is good. Utilities worked fine. No cable or OTA. Verizon cell signal was good. No trouble getting satellite reception. Restrooms were fine. No charge for the shower and strong, hot water. Group pavilion surrounded by more grass. A little overkill throughout the park with the signs about what not to do. About 8 miles from Palmer and right off Highway 3. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed the first night at site #41. Only electric 30AMP. For $31.50. Very soft ground. I couldn't level my motorhome even with pads. Left some deep holes where I tried. Next night I was able to move to a much better site, per this review We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Its a pretty standard campground but good by Alaska standards and a good value. Closer to Wasilla than to Palmer. Parks Highway nearby is a very busy four lane highway. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 nights with a 40 foot Motorhome. Gravel site long enough for disconnected car and coach with adequate space between sites. Used our own WIFI due to number of users on their WIFI which made it too slow. Good power and water supplies. Some road noise from freeway. Our mapping program did not send us with correct freeway exit. Recommend using the instructions sent with email confirmation. Nice park. Would stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Level pull through electrical only site. Dump station and water fill available. Wifi worked most of the time. Large clean laundry room. Restrooms and showers were clean. Signs everywhere stating speed limit 5 MPH yet the young camp workers sped around everywhere in the off road vehicles. Spun tires taking off and slid to a stop every time stirring up dust. Was a bite annoying. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our site was a pull through with 50 amp. We were in site #15 which was close to the road. I found the traffic noise sometimes bothersome late at night or early in the morning. There are pull through on the other side of the park if you can get them. Sites were big enough so I didn't feel like we were stacked on each other. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Open, level sites, with an unusual layout that may present a challenge to larger rigs. We managed to back our 36' motorhome into a site on the circle while most sites were unoccupied. Had the two sites either side of us been occupied, we could not have maneuvered our way into the site. If you are over 36' and cannot get a pull-through, suggest you go to another campground. WiFi was excellent, 30 amp power was stable, no TV, AT&T phone signal was excellent. Staff was friendly, but a bit disorganized. Still it was a very nice place. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed a total of 4 nights at this campground - 2 nights in July on the way to the Kenai, and 2 nights in August on the way back. Nice campground, the staff is friendly and helpful. A bit close to the Parks Highway and the Alaska Railroad, but not really an obtrusive noise. It's a bit of a drive into Anchorage, but the RV parks there are not great. Pretty easy on and off from Parks Highway. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

RV parks in Alaska seem to be a lot like the state itself...rough around the edges. In a month travelling here I haven't seen anything I would consider a "class A" park. That being said, this one is as close as we've come. The pads are gravel and at least they don't have a bunch of weeds growing in the middle of them like the last park we went to (although there are a bunch of weeds around the picnic table). The site was relatively level and the line of pull thrus near the office are fairly close together, but not as bad as a lot of places. We had an E & W site, both utilities worked fine. The rest of the sites in the park seem to be more generously spaced. The restroom/shower room is bright and clean although the shower stalls are quite small. I used the handicapped one which was excellent. The shower head was adjustable which is nice and the pressure and hot water were good although a bit hard to regulate. They get high marks for having hair dryers in the washroom though, something I've never seen anywhere else in 16 months on the road except Alaska. I could've lived without the earsplitting loud piped in rock music though. But, whatever. My only complaint was that there are big signs everywhere saying the building is closed from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., so I went to take my shower at 11:20. Nope. The girl "started early" with the cleaning so I had to wait an hour! There is a very nice looking laundry room that I did not use but it has quite a few machines and several bit folding tables which I really appreciate. It's overpriced at $3 per load, but so where the other places I went so I guess that's the going rip-off rate here in AK. The Tengo wi-fi was free but didn't work the first day. Worked ok day two. Verizon signal was strong. Front desk staff was friendly and professional. All in all, even with a few complaints, the price is right and the value is good, especially for Alaska. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Truck Camper.

This is a pleasant park with spaces fairly close together & nothing to separate you from your fellow campers. A little more grass than most Alaskan parks. Utilities worked well, laundry & bathrooms were clean, and the people were very nice. One confirmation from them had a Wasilla address, one had a Palmer address. Apparently they are right on the line between, but actually much more Wasilla. We would stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Easy access from Parks Hwy.; quiet, yet close to shopping, restaurants, etc. Good gravel roads and level, gravel sites. Back row "super sites" are long, wide pull-throughs. Pet-friendly; plenty of grass to walk our dogs. Cable and working WiFi. We would stay here again. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The site are tight, but well kept. I they have the best bathroom and shower. They separate male and female bathroom and shower and lock with a pass code. They even provide hair dryers. Although the sites are very close to each other but they maintain the quietness quite well. Children play ground is available. We camped at Big Bear Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
