Brand new KOA, each space has a picnic table and fire ring, owners are very helpful and if you want to book a tour, BOOK through the office as they get the best discount and can arrange for a shuttle (even though the tour companies says they don't pick up from this KOA, if you book through the office they make the arrangements for your pickup which saves you $10 parking fee in Seward). We camped at Seward KOA in a Motorhome.

Great location! This brand new campground is located on the road to Exit Glacier, and is just a few minutes drive into town. A bald eagle family is nesting in the front of the park, and was fun to watch. Management was very helpful. They booked a Fjords tour for us, got us a discount, and even arranged for a dog walker so we could spend a full day on the tour. Water pressure was strong, electrical service was solid, and there were two sewer connections on the site, making it very easy to hook up without long runs of sewer hose. The only thing missing is a grassy area to walk dogs. We camped at Seward KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice place in a spectacular setting. It's brand new, and has a lot of potential. At present, it's a thick gravel parking lot like we've seen often throughout Alaska. No grass, anywhere. Painted lines indicate where to park, but the lines have already disappeared at many sites. Utilities worked good. No cable. No OTA. No Verizon. Sites are level. Water pressure was good. Picnic table and fire ring. Propane. Very nice laundry and TV lounge. Five very nice private bathrooms, 4 with shower, sink and toilet. Nice spacing between sites. Sled dog rides and puppies for sale equal huge noise at time next door. Gun range on the other side of river with sound reverberating in the canyon. Here's the reason for the rating: Could not get on Internet....period. Five nights. Nothing. Staff said we might have to go to the bath house to get on, which seemed odd since our site was 100 feet from there. Still nothing. I mean nothing. I find this inexcusable for a brand new RV park in the year 2019 not to offer better Internet. We camped at Seward KOA in a Motorhome.

Very new, as previously described. 50 amp, very large sites, lots of pull-thrus, lovely huge mountains on two sides, river across the street, great location on the way to Exit Glacier, eagle nest with eagle in lone tree at front of Park. Wi-Fi very good. However, the place has all the charm of a hairy armpit. Gravel, gravel everywhere and not a sprig of green. There isn't even a weed for a dog to use in the dog run. It may eventually look better. We camped at Seward KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the short ranger-led hike Exit Glacier at 10am, 11am and later. Salmon Bake Restaurant just before KOA is terrific.

This is a brand new park that has been badly needed for a long time. Several of the older parks in the area have gone so far downhill you simply won't go anymore. The city camp is always packed. This be camp is a welcome option. It's on the road to Exit Glacier across from the river and just a mile off the Seward Highway. The lot is typically Alaskan; gravel, but they have landscaping planned. The spaces are twice as wide as most parks in Alaska and very long Big pushers with toads can fit. The spaces are set up at a great angle for easy access. There are full and partial sites (water/power) but there is a dump station on the premises and it's free. Brand new actual RV Park 50/30/20 power pedestals with water spigots. Water pressure is great. Each space has a nice new picnic table and a steel fire ring. There is a spotless bathhouse and laundry as well as a game room. They have a dedicated pet park and are currently finishing up a kids area with jungle gym and slide The main building is built from enormous spruce trees cut on the property when the park was constructed and is lovely. They have drinks and gifts and more is planned. As I said the place is new but they don't seem to be going through many growing pains. The folks running it seem to enjoy what they are doing and couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. If you are sick of fighting for a space at the city park or settling for the other dumpy parks in the area I highly suggest you try Seward KOA out. You can go on the nationwide KOA website and plug in dates and site type etc and pull up availability and book it. Didn't mean to write a novel but people need to know about this park. We camped at Seward KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Keep going up the road to Exit Glacier. Although like all glaciers it is retreating you can still hike up to the face. There is a working sled dog kennel next door where you can meet the dog mushers and the dogs and arrange a dog team tour. Fishing in Seward is usually top notch and there are always charters available except during fishing derbies. The Sea Life Center is always worth the modest price and is fascinating.
