August 7, Monday, Banff National Park - Two Jacks Lakeside Campground, Site 4, No Hookups, $36.40 , 74 sites This was one of my favorite campgrounds that we have stayed at in the past four months. It is on the Lake Minnewanka Loop in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The loop has two campgrounds, waterfall, lakes, biking, hiking and the remains of an old coal mine. We stayed at Two Jacks Lakeside Campground, site 4 which was a pull-through just above the lake. There were two other loops - a great tenting area with a short carryin but most were near the lake and private coves. The other loop was for RV's/Tents and it also had ten tent cabins most of them facing the lake. There are free showers here but the dump station is located at Two Jacks Main Campground just up the road. The dump station is very narrow and hard to get into. There are no hookups here but the Main Campground does have some electric sites. This campground is very popular and you need to make reservations. I made reservations last January when they became available and the campground was booked in ten minutes. The lake is great for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding (many with their dogs on board) and swimming. A little trail led from our site down to the lakeside trail where we talked to people sailing by. In the summer, there was a free shuttle around this loop and another shuttle for visiting some sites in the town of Banff. The ride into Banff was free but there was a fee to get back. This is a great place to camp and the nice young man at the registration booth was so informative. Lake Minnewanka Loop is great for a bike ride. We camped at Two Jack Lakeside Campground (Parks Canada) in a Motorhome.

This is dry camping with flush toilets and showers. I have never had such a great set of amenities for dry camping. We are on the lake side of the road. We see the lake from our site through densely populated pine trees. It is a 3 minute walk to the lake. There are numerous launch sites around the lake for our golden retrievers to swim. This is a perfect destination for us.

This campground fills up quickly. You need to book at the earliest possible time. We camped at Two Jack Lakeside Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

The best campground in Banff National Park. In a quiet setting away from the busy town yet still within a close distance to the city center. Clean, warm washrooms. Good wheelchair accessibility. At times at dusk elk can be seen grazing in the campground. If you want to stay here make sure to arrive early because it fills up fast. We camped at Two Jack Lakeside Campground (Parks Canada) in a Truck Camper.
