Overall Rating:

This park is no frills. It's right on the Trans-Canada Highway, so there is a decent amount of peripheral road noise. They have several different options for power (50 amp, 30 amp, 20 amp, and 15 amp), though we were not able to reserve a 50 amp in summer due to high demand. It's decently close to Calgary. It has a mini golf course and a nice little store, but not much else. The office is staffed from 9am to 10pm, which is pretty nice. Cell service was quite good, and the park WiFi worked decently enough, though it was a pain to set up at the beginning. Some sites have fire pits and some don't. There are two community fire pits as well. The bugs came out pretty well in the late afternoon, though that's somewhat to be expected in the summer given that it's in a more rural area. There were some tree branches near our site that made the entry into our site a bit more difficult. We had a spot overlooking a garden they were planting, so that was pretty nice. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

I would like to rate this park higher as it meets the criteria. It is delivering most of what it advertises. It is easy to find. The access is good. Reserving was easy. Check in was quick and pleasant. Interior roads are paved and wide. It is laid out well. There is a good mix of back ins and pull through. There is a small store on site. No cable (that means no damned cable box) but a good number of Over the Air channels. Cell service was good. Landscaping blase'....a few sticks that will be trees in fifty years. Services are well placed (Left rear). This is not a new park. It has been here for years. There has been no attempt made to beautify or clean the place up. There is a private residence on site (separate from the office building) with a yard full of junk. Another compound with a very tacky fence...full of junk. Road noise is not very noticeable. There are some long term units here but none are tacky. (One wonders how you can winter here when it hits -30 and the water is shut off.) This is one of the better parks in the Calgary area (and that's a sad fact). Prairie sunrises and sunsets are very nice. You are about 15 minutes to all services including big box stores. There are no restaurants within walking distance. Calgary has plenty of restaurants and a few that stood out. We would stay again if we had no other choice. We paid $46.66 Cdn inc tax. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping inc big box stores about 15 minutes west at Sunridge inc a Hospital. Try an amazing hamburger and milkshake at Peter's Drive-In on 16th Ave and Edmonton Trail. The fries not so much but the burger was a messy delight and the "real" shake was sooooo thick! Easy to get to from the park. Good Italian can be found at Chianti's in Willow Park Village. Nothing fancy but good service and great food.

This was my 3rd summer stay and I have generally been satisfied. My last site was the best as I had a treed site where the pad was level and there was a good slope for the sewer inlet. Some sewer inlets are too high for proper flow. I have found the staff mostly friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi unfortunately is very undependable and is shared making it almost unusable at times. Could definitely use an upgrade as I think Wi-Fi is becoming more important to RV'ers. Clean washrooms. This nice country location has very good access to Calgary, and is close to Chestermere. Easy access to main highways. Will stay here again. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Motorhome.

Good place to stay for Calgary Stampede. They run a bus twice a day each way to Stampede Park for $12 round trip - a good deal. Wi-Fi terrible when park is full. No water pressure in am so fill your water tanks if you want to take a shower. Try and get a pullthrough site. They have the most room. I would stay here again. Overall Rating:

This campground offers proximity to Calgary with ease of access to major highways. While it's situated off the TransCanada highway, we weren't disturbed by any excessive noise. The facilities are clean and welcoming as was the front office staff. The laundry facilities were very clean and certainly affordable. The only negative comment was the lack of site cleaning between site users. Ours had beer bottle caps on the gravel pad and several doggie messes on the grass between sites. Other than that, we plan to return to this campground when in Calgary. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

The town of Chestermere is only 6 kms east on TransCanada for quick supplies. A brand new Costco is only 4 kms south on highway 201 (Stoney Trail South) at 17th Ave.

Cara Lee, owner at Mountain View Camping responded to this review

Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to review Mountain View! We've seen many hurdles and changes in the past few years and we are glad to hear any feedback we can!

It is certainly a priority to us that sites are cleaned out between check-out and check-in times (and all other times in between if necessary!) - I will be stressing the importance of this at our next staff meeting and will be sure to spend more time on checking these small but important jobs are completed daily. I sincerely apologize for this.

Thanks again for your input, and I hope we will see you again soon!

Safe and happy travels!

Cara

Staff was excellent and very helpful the problem was the site we ended up in and the size of it. Your picnic table which was tiny was right next to your neighbour's sewer pipe. The site we were in was so close to the neighbours we could not have a fire, rings were not allowed in that particular area. The view from our site was a parking lot and shed that the staff had lawn equipment in. Not pretty......The grounds were just OK. The location was fine because we were going to the stampede and they did offer a shuttle for 10.00 per person to the stampede but left at 11am and did not come back until 6ish.....we decided to drive down and pay for parking. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Motorhome.

The staff here are lovely, friendly, helpful people. We had a bit of a hiccup with one of our slides and they did all they could to help us out. They accommodated our need to stay an extra day even though they were busy. We've stayed here before, a couple of years ago. I will say, the park has declined some, which was disappointing. It used to look a lot neater, but this time we found deep ruts in mud in some of the sites (which could be a problem if it continues raining!). For us, the nice young lady at the desk didn't seem to understand that we're a 40' motorhome with 3 slides. She put us in a narrow site (trees on both sides) and I had to run back to the office to request a change. No way could we fit into the one she'd assigned us, and yet we'd told her in advance what our unit was and it's size. There are quite a number of what appear to be long-term trailers in the park - not all of which are maintained. This park has a LOT of potential. We'll stay again, but only if it doesn't decline any further than it already has. I'm hoping they do a little maintenance! We had power, water, sewer. No pull-throughs that we could see. Sites are adequate, but not overly spacious. The location is great - easy access to Calgary or Strathmore. Laundry and restrooms available, although I've never used either. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The only thing this campground has going for it is its convenience to Calgary. We stayed here during the Oil Show and though we knew it was not a wilderness campground we were stunned to see how they pile units in. We could not walk behind our trailer as the unit behind ours was no less than 12 inches from our back bumper. Fire pits are at the front of lot right along side of road. No privacy at all. Sewer hookups are set up so that you have to run your hose into your neighbour's lot to hook up. It is also a major flight path for the airport and and is on a main highway, so quiet it is not. Would stay here again only if it was were last resort. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Old park not well kept. A mud pit after any rain. Tight roads and sites with lots of long term trailers and their extra vehicles parked all over the park. Anyplace would have to be better than staying here. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We arrived towards end of October on a Friday. Staff wasn't really rude, but not that friendly either. Sites are sloping so you have to bring the front of your RV quite a bit up, left right is ok. Some grass between sites and wide enough for slideouts and awnings. Hookups are in the middle of pull throughs, where always two RV's are parked back to back. At the end, you are very close with your neighbor. Hookups are dated, I only hooked up to power. Wi-Fi is provided by another business, Can $5.00 per day or more depending on bandwidth you want. Didn't bother to buy. Washrooms are poorly designed, old fashioned, dated and could be cleaner. However, once a day they really smelled of bleach! And you have to pay for the showers. The price charged is outrageous for what you get, the looks and feel just doesn't justify that price. But that is Calgary, no decent RV park available and the few ones can do whatever they want. I will not return. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

When we got to our site it had a foot of snow on it, we had to wait `till someone brought out a tractor to clear our site. The tractor didn't clear all so I had To go back and get a snow shovel and finish the job, I wonder if I should charge them $38/ hr labor for the work. Sites are not level, and muddy. No water hook ups so you had to drive the RV to the water outlet. That's the problem with Calgary RV campgrounds they don't have many, so they can over charge you and give you lousy service. Overpriced for this time of year. A bit crowded with back to back rigs. Sites are not very level. Bathrooms were clean but old. Have to pay for showers and the internet was extra. Catering to travellers coming in from airport and full time workers. Time to spend some money upgrading this place. Not much choice in Calgary!! Would probably not stay here again. They did not have water running in May 2009. What is disconcerting is that I called when making the reservation and asked specifically if they had full hook-ups. Now mind you, this place is about 10-15 minutes away from other parks, so once you get there, you pretty much have to "put up with it" for the night lest you run around finding another park. I would not have stayed two nights at this dump. So I give them a rating of 1 for lying, otherwise I would give them a 6. Also, they charge $5 per person over two people and $5 per pet. I wouldnt mind the $5 per pet, except there is dog poo everywhere. If you are going to charge $5 for pet, then put the money to use and get someone to pick up the dog poo. You will step and/or smell it. One neighbor had a leaky sewer connection (a small puddle of black water on their site) and nobody minded or cared. This seemed to be the norm with this park. The sites are very tight and the place seemed to have a lot of full-timers (lots of other vehicles, some sites had up to 3 vehicles, meaning you had to ask them to move their vehicle so you could move in and out since they obviously are parking where they shouldnt be). Business is good so they dont seem to care. If the place is full, why should they bother seems to be their attitude. They did credit us two dollars when I complained about their lack of water services even though they said on the phone they had full hookups. The owners run the park and work the office, so this behavior is unacceptable. We camped at Mountain View Camping in a Motorhome.

It has handy access to Calgary, but is noisy due to adjacent highway and planes flying overhead en route to Calgary airport. The washroom and shower facilities were very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi works very well but is expensive. It is certainly not a "destination", but an adequate place to stay while visiting Calgary.
