Access to the park is excellent via an overpass. The road through the park is paved and in good condition. There are a few spots that look tight but while were were there we saw a 45 footer towing a car hauler and a 47 foot triple axle pass through easily. Sites from the low 60s look to be the longest and widest. Check in was quick and easy as it was a self check-in. Payment is either cash stuffed into a provided envelope or by Credit Card info printed in the appropriate boxes. This park has been newly renovated. We were here last in 2011 and it was rough compared to now. The sites are all back in, hard packed gravel with a picnic table, fire pit and a power and water pedestal. Power is 15 and 30 Amp. The water had not been connected during our stay. It is scheduled to be turned on late September or early October so it should be all active for next season. The nearest potable water source is at the Canmore Information Center about 10 minutes west where there is a free dump station as well. Our site (26) had a beautiful view of the river and mountains. Let it be known that the riverside sites are the most desirable. We had people waiting in line for us to leave. Sites in the 30s and 40s were closest to the highway. Traffic noise can be heard at all sites though. Most of the forest undergrowth has been removed so the sites are not as private as they used to be but there is still a good bit of distance between neighbors. The camp hosts do a really good job maintaining the sites and making sure rules are followed. They also sold firewood, delivered to your site. We paid $33.00 per night and we feel that we received good value. W.e would return. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow River Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is probably the best place to use as a base for visiting Calgary as well as Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise. There are no restaurants or services within walking distance but the good sized town of Canmore is a few minutes away.Lots of bicycling nearby. Pedal the Legacy trail to Banff. Amazing!! Rafting trips available in Canmore. Hiking etc. So much to do nearby.

Overall Rating:

This was the first Canada Provincial Park campground I happened upon enroute to the Alaska Canada Highway via San Antonio, Texas and I wasn't more pleased, impressed and happy to see that Canada camps so much better than my fellow countrymen and women. This rustic, diamond in the rough was just what I expected my East Access Route to the AlCan would be and Bow River Camp Ground nestled in the forest with the Three Sisters on one side and the Bow River on the other, Delivered. I guess I was so worn out from driving and marveling at the great sights of the country I was passing through and hiking, biking, jogging through the woods and splashing around all the cold, clean water I was finding...I slept right through the highway noise other reviewers refer to. Thank you Canada. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow River Campground in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

Fish, swim, wade, splash, tube the Bow River. Nature walk, jog, walk, bike up the mountain through Three Sisters Mountain Village...where you can get your retail fix.

This is boon docking. There are no facilities other than "out houses" and a hand water pump available. The vistas are spectacular. Very quiet and serene. There are sites situated very close to the river. Also some site that are very close to the Trans-Canada Highway so these will be quite noisy. Not big rig friendly at all. The park road is narrow and winding. Lots of low hanging branches and large trees to maneuver around. Just a few miles to Canmore where there are all amenities and plenty to see and do. The best part of our visit was a Black Bear wandering through our site in broad day light. We would stay here again. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow River Campground in a Motorhome.
