Access to the park is easy from the Trans Canada each direction via highway overpass. Parameter roads are wide and paved. There is no check in required as until mid August this park is reserve only. There is an off site host that periodically checks on the park, sells firewood and cleans/services the sites. I suspect that you could arrive and wait for the host to stop by to pay for your site as the park was never full while we were there. You will hear road noise as the park is next to the highway. You will hear train noise as the valley is narrow and the track is a main east west line. We got used to the noise after a day or two. Our site consisted of a hard packed gravel base with a table and fire pit. Very basic. There are shelters with wood stoves in the park that would be handy during inclement weather. There are no flush toilets just vaults that were quite clean (we didn't use them). The only reason we stayed at this park is because we spent the summer in the Bow Valley and the Provincial Parks have a max stay of 16 days. There are no amenities near by. Dead Man's Flat has gasoline and a small store about 5 miles west. About ten miles west is the good sized town of Canmore that has full services and good restaurants. There are nicer parks in the valley but this one did work for us. We would return. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Lac Des Arcs Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

A very easy hike up Heart Creek was very nice. A more energetic scramble up Heart Mountain is well worth it for the views. There are areas where you can get into more serious climbing very near by. Plenty of day hiking in the area.
