Access to the park is easy from Highway 1. Parameter roads are gravel, wide and Big Rig Friendly. Check in was easy (self registration). We arrived very early in the season. Water in the park had not been turned on as the ground was still frozen. The Dump Station was open but again no water. A spigot at the main washroom was live so one could fill their tank. The section of the park that was service with power was wide open. The sites were close together, level, with only a table and a small patch of grass but the surrounding scenery was breathtaking. We noticed that it can get windy and you will hear road noise. The park is quite spread out. The lower loop is forested and the sites are spaced nicely but they are un-serviced. We would have preferred to have stayed there but it was cold and we needed the electricity. We had a herd of elk wander through and lots of deer as well. There is a 16 day maximum stay so there are no long term users. There are no services within walking distance. Weekends get busy with Calgarians visiting the mountains and this is a first come first served park. We felt the cost was a little high given that we were there off season but I'm sure the use of our electric heater balance the cost. We would return. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Willow Rock Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The closest fuel and some groceries are in the little town of Exshaw about 10 Km away. For restaurants and full amenities, Canmore is about 30Km west. Canmore is a pleasant town to visit. Lots of small shops and restaurants. Great hiking, scrambling and climbing in the area too.

We stayed here for one night. Close to TransCanada highway with some highway noise. Beautiful setting and easy pull through. Nice playground and lots of space for kids to run and play. Self pay or host will come and collect. We were here during the week early in season so nobody else here. We are 30 amp and no problem with electricity. We would definitely stop here again We did see a lot of RVs going to other Bow Valley Campground We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Willow Rock Campground in a Motorhome.

Not being able to get a reservation in any serviced campground in Canmore, we stayed at Willow Creek, which has 15 and electric. The area with electric hookups resembles an open overflow campground, however the other loops are quite nice, being mostly shaded and private. This is a first-come-first serve campground with self registration (CC accepted). Firewood is available ($10, or 4 bundles for $35), and there is a freshwater spigot at the dump station. Sites are quite narrow and short, making it necessary for me to detach the truck from the 5th wheel. There are laundry facilities (wash and dry $1 each) and communal fire pits. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Willow Rock Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the "overflow" campground for Bow Valley Provincial Park. No reservations are accepted. We stayed for one week, including a holiday weekend when the campground was full, often with two units in a site. There were two pay ($2 token/5 min) showers for Men, 2 for Women. Only one day did both showers work in the ladies'; a couple days on one worked in the men's room, and one day neither one worked. In addition, there was one toilet out of order the whole time in the ladies' room. The rest rooms appeared to be only really cleaned when a complaint was made - otherwise the guy kind of wiped the sinks and added tissue - not much more - he didn't even refill the hand sanitizer by the door, and there was no soap or towels. There was no employee on site, so I reported these issues every other day when I went to the store/office at Bow Valley to get tokens. There I was told there was a "Host" at Willowrock, but could never figure out who it was. If this is a typical Alberta Provincial Park Campground, I am sorry for the local folks; $25/night is a lot to pay for no services. We camped at Bow Valley Provincial Park, Willow Rock Campground in a Tent Trailer.
