This is a very nice and very clean campground. we stayed in site 48 and had a huge site! it was very nicely outlined with rocks in a clover shape and raked clean. there is a nice picnic table an fire ring. the asphalt pad was level and had plenty of room for out trailer and truck, with room to spare. The pads are spaced far apart and the natural brush, trees and cacti provided privacy. the views of Superstition mountains and the incredible sunsets were spectacular. The water pressure was excellent, as was the power. (small gripe; both 50a and 30a receptacles were somewhat loose, no heat problems though) the dump station was clean with dual lanes, and had rinse water and potable water available. There are nice easy trails throughout , great for walking the dogs, who enjoyed all the new smells... Overall, this is a very nice park and we will return. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

a five minute drive to Goldfield ghost town, a fun touristy place with stuff to see, eat and do. halfway there is Mammoth Mine Gift and Rock Shop, which, if you like rocks and dinosaur fossils, is one of the nicest shops we have been in. Clean, well organized and filled with quality fossils, unique gems and petrified wood artifacts. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable. They also have horses for rent if you fancy a ride.

Stayed at Lost Dutchman as we visited family in the area. Because of the extreme danger of wildfire there was a ban on any outdoor fires. Daytime temperatures were in the 100 degree range each day but the nights cooled off enough to have the windows open to enjoy the fresh air. Area was well maintained and employee's were very helpful. Stayed in site 100 which is in the first loop and is a moderate walk to the restroom/shower. We camped in a 22 foot travel trailer We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park with good trails and very nice camping facilities. Our space (16) was large and level; the restrooms were cleaned at least once or twice per day and were always in good shape. The showers were individual, with an outside lock on each. The power and water worked well. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There is a good grocery (Fry's) about 5 miles away in Apache Junction. The campground firewood was excellent- no need to go elsewhere for firewood.

Another really nice state park in Arizona, I can't think of any reason to give less than the max stars. We checked in just before noon and didn't have any issues at all like the previous poster mentioned. Our pull through site had 3 steps that led up to a large yard area with a picnic table, fire ring and grill. The hookups are on the inside of the site, so if you want to park so that your door faces the mountain, you'll need to run the electric and water under your rig, like we did. But that wasn't an issue. We had such an incredible view. And there are so many trees and bushes surrounding the site, it was very private. We'll definitely be coming back here. Stayed one night to help a friend learn how to set up & use his new tt. (was mine) This is a very nice, scenic park, very well kept, mostly by workcamper/volunteers. . . the only problem we had was low voltage electrical service, which I had noticed previously. 108/109 volts into your rig is hard on a/c etc. Using an adapter 30 amp to 50 plug usually helps, but not this time. .. & the park was nearly empty ( it was 106 out). . In milder weather when a/c is not necessary it's a great place. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lost Dutchman is one of our very favorite campgrounds. Water and electrical hook ups, but no sewer, although dump station is in campground and easy to use. Older part of the campground has best sites with lots of space, desert plants, good views. Newer areas better for large RV's but spaced closer together. Good walking/hiking trails within the park. Pet friendly. Lots of wildlife including quail and coyotes (serenading us at night.) Many sites with no utilities are available with no reservations. 5miles to Apache Junction. Close to Mining Csmp Restaurant, with live entertainment several nights a week. Close to a museum and a touristy mining town. The campground is located in a very nice state park with good trails, some scheduled programming. Folks in campground office are very helpful with tips for things to do.

This is probably my best ever camping experience. It was my second visit and this time we stayed a week--longest we have ever stayed at one place. The views are beautiful. The state park is well run. The employees as well as the volunteers are helpful and they are oh so proud of the park. There is a dry camping loop which serves as an over flow area. Most of the electric sites are large and private. The newly renovated loop (75-104) was originally the overflow loop. Water and electric has recently been added. This loop, and only this loop, is tight and crowded. We were so disappointed when we saw our site. However, it had a wonderful view and the site was still much bigger than most private park sites. Next time we will reserve earlier and get a more private site on another loop. A bath house has been planned for our loop but has not been funded yet. It was a long trek to the bath house. No place is perfect but Lost Dutchmen is about as close as it gets. Hiking is wonderful in the spring! We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You can now make reservations up to a year in advance. Feb-April is the busiest time. You definitely need to make a reservation even with a tent for the peak period. Bathrooms can be a far walk. On weekends there can be a long wait at the dump. We dumped the night before we left.

Been coming here for years. Some of the nicest people we have ever met. Sites are clean, level, and looking at the Superstition Mountains are just great. The town of Gold field is within site and people may not like the train whistle that they blow when the train pulls out of the station but it doesn't bother us. Will stay here again We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful setting in the Superstition Mountains. Spacious sites with picnic table and fire pit. All sites with hookups had reservations. They have an overflow area, dry camping, no reservations there. Clean showers and bathrooms, but very busy. Lots of hiking trails and close to Apache Junction shopping. We would come back. We took our family for a night of camping to check out our new trailer a bit closer to home before traveling out of state with it. Lost Dutchman was very nice, with the base of Superstition Mountain campsites, it would be hard to go wrong! We loved it! Nice location, looks like a little stream or streams may run through (when it rains in AZ right). Views of the City at night are truly beautiful and the mountain lights up deep red in the sunset - reminding me of the Dolomites in Italy! Beautiful country. We will definitely be camping here again. Family and pet friendly, Clean facilities, nice people! We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful setting! Our view was of the Flatiron that was exactly like the postcard I bought. Nice sites, not on top of each other. Pull-through sites are nice and wide. The extensive trails in the park are very clean and nicely organized. We will be back again. We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is just a State Park with most of the RV spots in a pull off the roads. Very few back in spots. Also no sewer although there is a dump station here. Not much privacy, a lot of the sites have the picnic table against the road so you pull into the sites going the wrong direction if you want your RV door to open out to the table. . We originally planned to stay here for 3 weeks and paid for that in August through the reservation on line service. We are only staying 8 days and that is only because Christmas falls during our stay here. A lot of this area around the park is Tourist mines and such. Lost Dutchman is fantastic desert camping. The view of the Superstition Mountains is incredible, and at night you have the Phoenix metro area lights. Plenty of activities in the park and nearby. Sites are flat and many are pull through. Park is big rig friendly. The only negative is that like other AZ state and county parks, they do not offer sewer hook ups. We look forward to visiting again soon! We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.
