This is the 4th year I've stayed here. It is well wooded for shade at almost every site. Full hookups, back in and drive thru available, great owners who also manage the place. Very helpful for local activities. BYO drink happy hour every afternoon, really about an hour. Very pet friendly, walking distance to Sitgreaves Nat. Forest, 20 minutes to ShowLow for shopping. No pool and communications can be "iffy" but a wonderful spot for overnite or a couple of weeks. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A great park. If your looking for a place that is rustic this is the place for you. But if you're looking for a pool, hot tub, or a rec room, then not. Sites have shade and a lot of people that have been coming back for years. Owners will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. If you want to view the stars at night and hear the elk in the fall then this is the park for you. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

If you are looking for a smaller adult orientated park with lots of shade and newer utilities (50 amp, sewer, and water), that is located right next to National Forest: this is your lucky day.

This quiet park is privately owned by a nice and very helpful couple who will assist you in any way they can. The sites are spacious, contrary to what other unreasonable reviewers have written.

Seriously, this is rim country. If you are expecting a huge flat parking lot because you don't know how to drive your rig, don't blame it on the park. Go to Kansas. We have stayed here three times with a 33 ft 5th wheel with no problem maneuvering into and out of sites.

There is good spacing between most sites. The gravel roads in the park are well maintained. There are shower and laundry facilities.

Happy hour at 4pm nearly everyday (BYOB) where good folks, including the owners sit and relax and talk about another beautiful day in the high country. The prices here are reasonable. Stay for a night or several months, you won't be disappointed. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Please keep this hidden gem a secret. :)

Show Low for shopping is 30 minutes away.

Bring your OHV'S and ride right out of the park into miles and miles of trails in the forest.

The rate of $15 is the nightly average of $350 per month plus electric. We stayed one month to be close to family and Forest Service for off road riding. Older park, very VERY tight sites, most are more appropriate for tents than rv's. WiFi did not reach our 1st site so we moved to the only other place owners would let us stay. So small I had to cut tree branches and move rocks to fit my 25' 5th wheel on the site. Other sites available but they would not let us have one. Owner was busy so handed me a ladder, a hand saw and pruners & told me to cut whatever I needed, & move rocks (boulders) if I needed to. (I did). (I should have given them a bill for my hour + 1/2 labor!) Park sits in a valley so Verizon mobile didn't work. If we had not prepaid and locked into the month we would not have stayed. The laundry machines are in need of replacement. The owners are nice, but nice people do not make a comfortable park. In 25 years of RVing, this was the hardest place we have ever been in for parking the rig on the site. The sites are so tight there isn't even a good walking path unless you walk Out of the park. Even the sites for the "big rigs" were cramped with barely room to open slides. Caution to you if you like to be able to "spread out", set out your awning and chairs and move around your RV. (Our awning would not open all the way. Not enough room) Upon leaving we were given our electric bill, which included a $7.00 "hook up" fee. Really? The electric bill seemed excessively high, since we didn't use our A/C much at all. As you can see, we were not happy campers. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Spent a few days here and it was very relaxing. The main highway is about 1 mile away so it is very quiet. The town of Clay Springs doesn't have much if anything to call a grocery store so fuel up and shop before you come. It is equally between 2 towns that have gas, stores, restaurants and noise. Other than that the campground is great. It is under new ownership and the sites are wide and easy to get around in. The staff is very helpful and the Elk population is plentiful and also seasonal. I will comeback again and will tell all of my friends about it. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park is extremely difficult for anything over 28' to maneuver! Has bad slope from entrance to back of property with some kind of lava gravel roads. It was the first time I used 4 wheel drive in a park. Utilities were good but on wrong side of rig. Wi-Fi was strong. My space was level & clean. New owners are very straight faced. Previous reviewer is correct about food, gas, and barking dogs at night. Overpriced in my opinion. Can't recommend even for overnight due to tight squeeze. The park entrance is smack in the middle of hard 90* left hand turn. Try not to surprise the vehicle behind you. Would never stay here again. We camped at Arizona High Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed. Lava and gravel roads and sites with lots of trees with more planted. Sites level and fairly wide, no problem with our slide out with nice, sturdy picnic tables. Very clean restrooms, showers and laundry and the entire campground spotless. Dog area and next to forest at 6400 ft. This is a campground and not a resort and is very nice and quiet. Open April through Nov. Will definitely be returning.
