Great location inside Grand Canyon NP. Convenient park bus service from campground to all park bus routes. Restrooms were heated. Our electrical power surge protector indicated an open ground (hazard) where voltage between neutral and ground is greater than zero. Park attendant came and said several people with surge protectors had this problem. He said request a site move (none available) or use the electrical power connection at your own risk, which we did since we had no other choice. So, while lightning storms occurred each evening, we could not use our surge protector. RV site was sloped in two directions; had to use leveling blocks. Showers and laundry facilities were about 2 miles away by park bus. Very inconvenient. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

As campers we should take responsibility to clean up after ourselves (and maybe walk into the woods when you want to smoke a cigar). But, maybe this park could use a staff member to walk around and inspect each site and 'tidy up' before the next camper arrives. It would be nice if the concessionaire would use a quieter non-gas vehicle to drive around the park. 45 ft MH just fit, we had to back out of the pull through due to a tree being in the way. Not a big deal. Tow vehicle had to be parked on the stones. Great use of shuttle busses to take you anywhere. Beware! We had 2 inches of snow fall overnight the first week of April! We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

The only advantage to staying in the park is avoiding the long lines at the main entrance. Sites are very close. Our site was filthy with dog poop and cigarette butts. The people at check in was satisfactory but it is a slow process and the line can get long and the parking for rv's at check in is ok if you are the only one. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are big rig friendly, level enough for levelers to work. 50 amp full hookup even during freezing temps. When checking in, pull all the way forward, way past the check-in hut so shuttle buses are not blocked! Shuttle service great when there is no parking due to crowds. No cell service at campground, but there is cell service at Verkamp's Visitor Center! The Market Place grocery store next to campground is actually a huge full service grocery store, no need to grocery shop before arrival. Prices are decent too. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

The ONLY great thing about Trailer Village is that it's inside Grand Canyon. We've stayed at other National Parks that had friendly and helpful staff, propane service and showers/laundry right in the trailer park. This Trailer Village is poorly maintained, staff uninformed and you have to drive or take a shuttle to the showers [and PAY to take an 8 minute shower]. If the amenities aren't within the RV park itself I don't think it should be listed as an amenity. When ask where we could get propane, the staff directed us to Cameron, which is 50 miles away! We did find out the next day that was incorrect, there was another place much closer. Left a day early due to no propane service and that's when we discovered a much closer town that sold propane. I thought the staff should have had handouts they could give campers that highlighted all the services one might need. Although we paid extra for a "concrete pad" it was in need of repair. There was a place to hook up to TV, but no reception. We arrived prepared with two full tanks [30lbs] of propane and due to a cold front went through most of our propane in two days. Be aware that there is a propane service less than 10 miles away, unlike the 50 miles we were told about. And also that you have to leave the Trailer Village to take a shower and do laundry. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

If you want hook-ups this is a great place to stay. We were in the full hook-up section (not the classic, which did not look very appealing). Sites are pretty level. They are all pull-thrus and angled so that you are not looking into your neighbor's RV. Sites are long enough that the picnic table is well separated from the sewer. The campground is dark. Only lights are at the restrooms. There are lots of trees and grassy places around the campground although most of the sites are asphalt/gravel. Staff at check-in was friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle stop at the entrance if you don't want to drive. Your sewer hose can only be hooked up when you actually need to dump because the ravens poke holes in them if left unattended. Both 30 & 50 amp available. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

The "General Store" nearby (in the park) has a good selection of food with produce, meat, and dairy. One section of the store has clothes and camping items. Gas/diesel is available right outside the park and is pretty pricey.

We've stayed at Trailer Village several times over the years, and this time there was something new; they've removed several rows of the derelict park models from the far area of the RV park and call those "classic sites." They charge $10 less ($41 + $3 tax/fee) because they are gravel instead of paved pads, have no grill, and no cable TV (however we were informed the cable TV is frequently down in the main $51+tax section anyway). We have Dish so TV was no big deal for us, but since there's no antenna signal here it is a bummer for some who get put there. We had no T-Mobile signal and had to go 1/2 mile to Market Plaza to get internet (10 minutes on a bike trail, best signal near Chase). We didn't mind this "classic site" with its nice wooden picnic table and liked the $10 savings. We are a 30 ft 5th wheel but larger rigs had a bit more trouble maneuvering around some trees here. Row M is next to the forest, with a front row seat to watching the elk during rut season, which was very enjoyable. The elk also roam the campground and seem very mellow, but stay away from them for your safety, especially the bulls. Check-in is bizarre. They require you to pull up past the office, to the school bus loading area so the park shuttle bus can make the turn here. However the National Park has not allowed them to put out a big sign explaining that, there's only a sign on the door that you see after parking, so virtually no one does the right thing. When you go in to register, they tell you to go back out and move your rig. For us, staying here is all about the Grand Canyon experience, and this time it was a 10+, with 4 days of perfect weather. We like to bicycle and from this campground you can bike all over (see tips). If you don't bike you can hop on the free shuttle bus that stops at the RV park entrance to get around. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Bike on paved trails in two directions: To the Village, and from there cycle the closed West Rim Road near and along the rim to Hermits Rest (21 miles RT, 1100 ft total elevation gain on gradual hills, free shuttles available to make ride easier), or ride east to the Greenway Trail along the rim and out to Yaki Point (10 miles RT), a much easier ride and very scenic with a lot of it along the rim. A bike rental/tour concession is at the Visitors Center.

Better than I expected from a concessionaire-operated NP campground. Still, lack of friendless on check-in and scare tactics about parking and wildlife were unnecessary. If you want to stay in the park, this is your only option for trailers or motor homes. Make reservations far in advance (we made ours 5 months ahead). It was sold out the entire time we were there. Paved sites mostly level. Nice spacing in the area we stayed on K row. Picnic table and grass all around. Be prepared for grazing Elk to wander through your site. Original site so steep that leveling was impossible; we had to ask for a different site, which was done. No convenient place for dumping trash, which was particularly inconvenient for those of us who clean up after our dogs. None of: fenced dog area, pool (although we saw people in bathing suits?), snack bar, playground, WiFi. No A T & T signal. Also no store, but the market is only one shuttle bus stop away. All sites are 50 amp; the registration desk has converters for units needing 30 amp, but we couldn't tell if there was ever an issue of their running out of those. (Bring one's own?) Staff person at the desk talked about charging us a half-day for leaving late but then did not do so. One can walk to the rim or use the very convenient shuttle. Despite its minimal provisions it really is the best way to visit the Grand Canyon. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

We had much higher hopes for Trailer Village before we arrived but, from the moment we parked, it was one disappointment after another. 1) The site was so out of level we never could get our 42' rig level front to back; 2) the 50 amp power had a weak leg (their own maintenance guy measured it at 104v) which kept triggering our EMS to shut down the power to protect our appliances from under-voltage; 3) The only good thing about the park is its proximity to the canyon itself, and we found a half dozen perfect boondocking spots on forest roads in the area that are far prettier, just as close and a lot more level than their site, so we'll be staying there instead next time. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

If you've never seen the Grand Canyon you must see it. Our third time. Stayed 3 days in a 43' motorhome. Access park from the south on HWY 89 from Williams. Check-in at the front booth was fast and easy. Big Rig friendly, paved roads. Our site was level, some shade. Utilities worked well. No cable, no ATT service poor OTA channels. Lots of wildlife... mornings you'll see Elk walking around CG. Good bus system to park areas. Use the buses instead of car to get to where you want to go. Be aware, rude drivers, saw several instances where groups were separated because once drivers close doors they leave. You'll stay busy, lots to do and see. This time there was a fire restriction so no campfires were allowed. The visitors center has good info movie. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

$51 for a full service 50 amp pull-through site Trailer Village is a typical concession operated National Park campground with RV's lined up side-by-side-by-side. There is, however, enough space to have a picnic table and BBQ/fire pit between each site. A few sites even have trees that offer some privacy and shade. Most of the interior roads and sites are paved; despite this leveling blocks are a common sight. They are expanding the campground into an area that previously housed staff and contract workers. At this point these sites are gravel. I was surprised that cable TV is also provided at each site. Restrooms at Trailer Village do not have showers. Showers and laundry facilities are located a short distance away at Mather campground. And their hours of operation are much improved since our last visit in 2012 with both now open until 10pm. The grocery store at Market Plaza is extremely well stocked with fresh meat, produce, dairy, etc., and prices are quite reasonable, with the exception of ice at $5 a bag. WiFi is absolutely terrible at the hotspots within the park. However, the library has half decent WiFi - slow but MUCH faster than the advertized hotspots within the park. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

Clean, well-run, well-maintained park. Spaces not on top of each other. Scattered shade. We used full hook-ups. Wifi was not operational. Managed to get local news. No AT&T coverage. Employer reports that the only cell phone towers in the area are Verizon. We stayed in site 61, which had an area close by for dogs to walk. Shuttle will pick you up at the entrance to Trailer Village and take you wherever you like along the rim for free. Market PLaza (grocery, beer, ice, knick knacks) is within walking distance. My favorite campground so far of our five week trip. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

We always eat at El Tovar. Somewhat pricey but it's nice to have a sit down meal with a white tablecloth from time to time when camping. The kennels at the Grand Canyon are clean, well-run, reliable. Our dogs survived one night with no problem. The people -- Maswick Lodge, Security, and Kennel Attendant we are all easy to work with.

All the sites that I saw were pull throughs. It is very close to a shuttle stop. You never have to drive anywhere. The picnic tables are chained to the ground. Ours was placed in a weird spot close to our neighbor's utility hook up on big rocks. Luckily, I had a set of wrenches to remove the chain to get our table under our awning. Fire rings have been removed and the grill wrapped in plastic due to high fire danger. Big elk wander around water hook ups looking for a drink.
