This park has mostly permanent units with some being very old. Some had lots of stuff around. They had six sites without permanent units they rent to overnighters. We were supposed to have cable but it did not work. We were next to the road but they have a tall sound barrier wall so the road noise was not objectionable. Lots of trees in front part of park so satellite did not work. Most of the units were unoccupied during our visit but on summer weekends probably more people around. We were visiting family in the area and would likely stay here again as there are not too many choices close by. Our site was long enough for the mh but not with car connected. We had to disconnect. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Payson is a summer get away for people from Phoenix area. Not much to do in town unless there is a festival.

This is a well maintained RV park with friendly office staff. Many are permanent sites which lends for a quiet, safe RV park. All utilities worked well, WiFi is only available at the Clubhouse. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in our RV so we could visit our friends that have a park model. They located us up front in the older section of the park and the pull-through site was very difficult to get in to. We did have some shade trees which made it nice. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Not much of a resort. 95% full time residents. We requested a pull through but had to back in because of a large tree blocking the rear of the space. Spent two days listening to the Hwy noise and looking at the junk trailer next to us. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

The last review pretty much says it all. I'll just add a few things. Utilities worked well. The park is not well marked from the highway. There is a big, very tall sign across the street (north side) right at the entrance. Coming from the east there is a big block wall that blocks seeing the entrance until you are on top of it. Coming from the west look for that big sign across the street. We had a pleasant stay and would stay here again. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Good place for an overnight stop. While the camp has many permanent residents, everyone was extremely friendly front office as well met a few of the perms and they were nice. Park 55+. Lots are double wide. Cash only. Verizon 4G excellent. No park wifi. Many, many clear cable stations. Paved main roads. No dog run. Laundry has many machines good place to catch up on laundry. Also has hooks outside to leash your dog. Sites level packed gravel/dirt lots are double wide plenty of room for parking tow. No dust problems tho because the main roads are paved. Quiet, no road noise. Would have given it a 10 if it had wifi. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

My Garmin GPS did not find this campground. This is one of the friendliest campground we have stayed in. Arrived pulling a trailer, manager found us a site that we did not have to disconnect. Upon parking, other residents came over to welcome us. The sites are large with small gravel and flat. We would stay here again. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We returned again to this RV park, which is largely for permanent, full-timers. They maintain very few transient spots, and offer very few amenities. But, they are convenient to visiting family, and we will return again. The park is quiet, with good utilities but no Wi-Fi at the sites (available in the clubhouse). Satellite access can be problematic because of the abundance of tall, mature trees. But on the other hand, they do provide nice shade. Roads are paved, sites are gravel, level, and large with easy in/out access. The fuel station across the road has the best diesel prices in the area. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here about 4 years ago and the park has changed dramatically in that time. It is essentially all park models now, with very few vacant sites for transients, all of which appear to be back-in sites. The roads are paved; it is very neat, clean, and quiet with a large number of mature trees. It was a lovely park in which to ride our bicycles. It was very close to our relatives in Payson, so we will probably return. The park was not willing to reserve a site for our 4-day stay, but our Payson relatives were able to arrange for our site in advance. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

There are not a lot of options in Payson for large rigs to overnight. When we made the call to this park to overnight we were told we don't really do that. They did find a spot for us and we stayed 3 days. The previous poster is right this is a park designed for park models. The residence are very friendly and the park is clean. There is a nice dog walking area. The park is really located in Starr Valley but still close enough to Payson. Payson is a beautiful mountain town with wonderful views and a great climate. We highly recommend breakfast at the Payson airport. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is really a park homes site with RVs on vacant lots. Entrance wide but limited area to park and register. Office staff friendly but not that efficient. Access roads to sites paved, well maintained, but tight particularly on corners. Sites are flat and very wide with full-hookups. Quiet. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.

Large level and wide sites. The streets were a little tight for a 40' motor home - especially with a "decorative" tree circle in the middle of the road and the other route narrowed by orange cones. Great people though and management. The park consists mostly of park models and fifth wheels/trailers that appear to be here most of the year. I do not think that many spaces are available for overnighters. We would stay again. We camped at Lamplighter RV Resort (55+ Park) in a Motorhome.
