This is a great state park campground. The park was full but did not feel like it due to the spacious sites. Great place for bicycling whether it's mountain biking the trails or road biking Tucson's loop around the city. Both are easy and safe access. We lost one night due the road into the park being flooded out. It appears the road is now lower than the wash basin which indicates to me it will happen again and again. Something to be aware of since you can get caught inside. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping close by. Try Parish restaurant. It's a ways down Oracle (5-6mi) but worth the drive. Can't say enough about the great cycling here. I could have gone further with the mountain bike if I had the proper shoes/boots to cross the water traveling down the washes.

Wonderful State Park with roomy sites. Would definitely stay here again. Only down side is that there are no septic setups. Also can stay for only two weeks. Great location and lots to do here. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice state park. 50 amp and water. No sewer - dump station only. We stayed in campground B in a long pull thru. Lots of space between sites. Great location at the base of the mountains. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

I was apprehensive about a State Park, but this one was great. The spaces are paved, long, level, and far apart. This is a place that I could spend some time in. It was quiet and peaceful. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

One of the best State Parks we've visited; with good, paved interior roads; paved, level sites with plenty of room in between, and views of the Santa Catalina mountains. Great park for bicycling and hiking, or just walking your dogs. Campground is quiet with a rural feel, even though shopping and restaurants are minutes away. Reserve well ahead to get a site, at least in the Winter months. The only improvement I would suggest is that they mark the campground loop roads with the site numbers, instead of just "back-in sites" and "pull-through sites". We weren't the only ones who made several trips around the loops looking for their site. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Blue Goose Thrift Store, about 5 miles north on Oracle, is a find. Very clean store with lots of "treasures" and no yukky thrift-store smell. Run by volunteers, its only open 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Almost every review we read about this park was positive, and this one won't be any different. It's close-in (major shopping directly across from park entrance) but still wild enough to feel secluded. Its popularity during the winter months usually requires booking up to a year in advance. The RV sites are paved, spacious and level, all with picnic tables and fire rings. (no ramadas) Although the park was full, the noise level was negligible. The park offers free wifi (spotty) and there is great OATV reception. The restrooms are clean, showers have plenty of hot water, but shower houses aren't heated, so stepping out is a bit chilly! The major attraction, in my opinion, are the numerous hiking trails within the park. They offer a great variety of terrain, difficulty, and length -- what more could you want?! It's simply a beautiful park. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

We made reservations 6 months out reserving a specific site. Upon arrival, the site was in use. After 2 hours of waiting, the rangers located another site for us to use for the duration of our stay. The site and location was wonderful with gorgeous views of the foothills. The sites are spread out and private. No campfires were allowed. A grill and table are provided at each site. WiFi did not work for us. Hiking trails within the park are fantastic. Canyon loop trail is a fun 2-mile hike within the park. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We've camped at Catalina State Park several times, and we rank it as one of the best state parks in Arizona. It's campground is huge, safe, well-kept, and offers access to miles and miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails. Yes, the CG's spacious sites only offer water and electric service, but that's a small price to pay for sites with unobstructed sunset views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Notes: (1) Once inside the park, it's unlikely that you'll notice any noise from busy Hwy #77 that borders its entire western border. (2) Surprisingly, our Verizon cell service was just 2-bars inside the CG. And, (3) the park recently added free internet, but expect access to be slow and limited. Dump Station is on site. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice place. We had site 48 in the B loop. It was long and level and very spacious. We had a great view of the mountain and easy access to the hiking trail. It rained one whole day while we were there, but we didn't really have any issues with mud or puddles. They have wifi, but we didn't use it because the cell and data on Sprint was all we needed. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Top notch. Catalina State Park is in a beautiful location north of Tucson, close enough to Tucson to go into town, but far enough to be in nature. Many of the sites face wild country and have great views of the desert and mountains. Sites are spacious and level. Sites had grills, but didn't have fire pits. Everything is clean and well maintained. Showers and restrooms are nice. Quiet. Good hiking and biking inside the park. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a well-maintained park, extremely clean and quiet, but only 12 miles out of Tucson on 77 North. Water and electric at all sites, large and spacious. Many trees, but not tall/thick enough to give much shade. Paved roads and pull-thrus/backins, most capable of large RVs. In early May, beginning to get very hot during days and park is mostly empty--sure it fills in cooler months. We camped at Catalina State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Most all shopping needs close by--Walmart directly across Hwy 77 in new shopping center. This is AZ, was starting the 100+ days while we were here in early May. Would not consider staying here any later in year until Sept. Hiking trails around.
