The fairgrounds has hundreds of sites - all long, wide, gravel pull-throughs with plenty of room for toads. Full hook-ups, security, vending, propane. This is basic RV parking - nothing fancy but certainly adequate and easily accessible. There is much to see and do in the Tucson area. No reservations accepted, so be certain to check the fairgrounds website for events which may totally fill the RV park. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 5 nights after the Escapees annual Escapade at the Pima County Fairgrounds. Fairly new park with good utilities. Plenty of room. The spaces are long and wide. Plenty of room for slide-outs, awnings and room to park your toad or tow vehicle alongside the RV. The weather was great so we didn't mind the lack of shade trees. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Some of my favorite places to stay are fairgrounds because of the space and laid back atmosphere. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a campground of any kind. The woman in the office was rude and pushy, the site we were put in had to be the worst in the entire system. It was super short and narrow, rutted, littered with thorns, posts on both sides and literally 5 feet from the busy road leading in and out of the fairgrounds. There are two small areas for walking dogs but they are dirty. Gardening crews were using weed whackers immediately behind my trailer and shooting rocks into the back of it. Generally noise doesn't bother me but this place has the trifecta! The motor speedway is nearby so beginning very early in the morning you are treated to the sounds of drag racing. There is a shooting range nearby also and the shooting goes from early to late in the day. Being parked right on the entry road just pushes the noise level over the edge. I would never stay here again. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

My kind of RV Park. All spaces are 45 ft long and wide enough to park beside your rig or set up your patio. Very clean and very quiet upfront here on the gravel lot. There are spaces on the side and in the back on the grass or in the dirt. Large and small off leash dog parks on both sides of the fairgrounds. Propane available on site. Location is excellent with no traffic issues. $150 a week includes electricity and full 50 amp hookup. A great price compared to other RV parks in the area. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This fairgrounds is easy to locate, access, and maneuver around in any size RV and has a plethora of spaces. The park offers the gamut of hook-ups, from dry to full. There are restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities which were all well-maintained. The place has two fenced dog runs, and there is a 1.5 mile fitness track with strength stations and a cactus garden at the back of the park. There was plenty of OATV and free park wifi. The Cantina opened during event weekends, serving up typical bar-type fare. It is a busy place since events are held every weekend, but if you're staying there you can often take advantage of the events, many free. A variety of racing tracks are located outside the fairgrounds (and can be heard during the day, but never at night.) If you leave during event weekends, be prepared for a possible line to get back in. We had mail/packages delivered several times with no problems, and the park hosts often brought it directly to our rig. Shopping and restaurants are 10 minutes away. It is an easy drive to Saguaro National Park, Mt. Lemmon/Santa Catalina Mountains, downtown Tucson, Tucson Mountain Park, and the Arizona Trail. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

At $30. This place is overpriced for what you are getting. Gravel lot, a long way to the facilities, packed in too close, no wifi but when you get closer to the office (1/2 mile away) there is sporadic. Very noisy (drag racing, RC planes and long timers working in the area). Office staff aren't very friendly and there was lots of complaints from other RVers. We've stayed here 3 times in the past and it was a lot more RVers. This will be our last. The only good things about is proximity to Tucson and places to visit. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night passing through the area. We had originally planned to boondock, but with hard freeze and winter weather advisories, we preferred to be able to plug into electric. This is definitely a no-frills big open parking lot with hookups, but the $27 GS rate was well worth it for what we needed. Especially when we woke up to four inches of new snow. Painstaking check-in process and escort to our site, which I suppose is helpful to some people but it's a big open parking lot. Wifi was down and wasn't going to be fixed for a few days. They weren't full when we were there, but sites look like they are packed in pretty tight. Interior "roads" very easy to navigate. It's conveniently located off the interstate, yet far enough away that we didn't hear road noise. Very quiet at night. Gravel lot, level site. Strong Verizon signal. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

The park and the surrounding fairgrounds are great and we're planning to stay again when we're in the area. Yes, it's a big gravel parking lot if you want the modern 50-amp FHU, but it's very clean and you can't beat the price. Laundry rooms (2) are small but they are open 24 hours. Packages were delivered to our trailer and dumpster emptied every day. Dog runs kept clean and stocked with bags. Our semi truck didn't fit on the site with our 5er and the other vehicle, but we were allowed to park it on the edge of the campground, just 75 feet away. The best part was the ability to walk the dog throughout the fairgrounds, including the 1.5-mile nature trail in the NW corner. Events at the fairgrounds may impact your stay (horses/cow trailers & smells), and cars could be heard at the speedway nearby. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great base of operations for exploring Tucson, although it's a long drive to get to Catalina State Park and the north side. Take the narrated drive up Mt. Lemmon. There's a large Fry's grocery about 6 miles north on Houghton Road, and a new shopping area just north of the I-10.

Daily rate is based not the weekly rate of $150. The regular daily rate is $30. Easy access to the highway. Full hookup sites are all in a gravel area which needs to be re-leveled based on many storms. Good size sites when the park is not full. Might we tight if it were packed. The only showers available after 5:00 pm are near the Horse barn which is inconvenient. The campground shower house is locked after business hours which seems odd. The fairgrounds are about 25 miles from downtown Tucson. We choose this part at the last minute because other parks were either full or cost over $320 per week in season. We will stay here again in our Big Rig motorhome. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Thank goodness for Pima County Fairgrounds. We had hoped to get onto the Davis-Monthan FamCamp, where they didn't take any reservations. However, it was full, and we were in the area too long to want to dry camp there. Then began the perplexing search for an RV park that took a family under the age of 55, that was affordable. We found the fairgrounds and were so happy that there was room. Upon arrival, we found that the fairgrounds has a ton of sites, with room even during the weekend when there was a fair on-site. Additionally, they have a reasonably priced storage lot, which we took advantage of when we decided to do a quick side-trip without the trailer. The campground is really just a big gravel parking lot, but the hookups were excellent, the hosts very friendly, and the price extremely reasonable ($50/night less than one of the other "family-friendly" parks). The park has a security guard that monitors each vehicle's entry, so we felt safe at night. It is far enough out of town that we could see the stars, and hear the haunting songs of the coyotes. Easy in and out--the roads are simple to maneuver on, even with our 42.5' fifth. The office has a book exchange, which I always appreciate. We gave the park a 7 (versus a higher rating) based only on the lack of aesthetics...otherwise it was a great park. We would definitely return. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed the Tombstone gunfight and lunch at the Crystal Palace. In Tucson, we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, hiked in Saguaro National Park, and attended Mass at the San Xavier Mission. Do not miss out on the incredible food from the vendors at the mission parking lot--the Indian Fry Bread Tacos, the handmade paper-thin giant tortillas cooked over the fire--all absolutely delicious. Finally, do not miss the DeGrazzia art gallery.

We stayed here during the Tiffin Motorhome Rally. This is a wonderful facility. Though the wifi and the county roads leave a lot to be desired, this facility is great as far as critical infrastructure for RV's. Also, they don't have any breed restrictions so we felt very welcome with our large dogs and we also appreciate the dog parks for both large and small breed dogs. Each site has full hookups which was greatly appreciated. Though the sights are a little close to one another, there is plenty of room for slide outs. The Cantina on the grounds is wonderful. They have great food and a nice bar. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be staying here! We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This was the first time we stayed at a fairground lot, but we'll look for these going forward. This was a great value. The spaces are basically set up as a large, open parking lot with hookups at each site. Sites are close, like a parking lot, with no foliage/privacy between sites. We only spent one night there and didn't use water/sewer, but our site was level and we used the electrical hookup. I can't speak to the wifi. Restrooms were clean, but many of them were locked (including the one by our site), which wasn't convenient. Maybe they're all open when they're busier? And there is only one shower facility, located in the restroom by the show arena. The showers were clean and had good hot water and water pressure, but there was a dog show the day we were there, so there was a lot of traffic in the restroom while we were showering. Park hosts were friendly, and there are some fenced dog-walk areas, which is nice. There is a racetrack nearby, and you could hear cars as they raced, but it wasn't intrusive, and the park was very quiet in general. We would camp here again. We camped at Pima County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Signage could be improved; pull all the way through to the back (past the Host camper) and the office is on the right. Well-marked once you get to it. Wi-Fi would make this place perfect!! AT&T & Verizon hotspots worked well, however. We absolutely plan on returning.

We spent almost a month here between 2 rallies and some private time. It is all dirt/crushed stone. We had one of the new spots out front and it was a back in. Not spacious but ok.
