Needed a place to tuck in for the night between Little Rock and New Orleans. Not much to choose from on US 65. Saw reviews weren't bad so thought we would try. Had rained very hard in area the night and morning before our arrival. Should have gone past! Place was a mud hole! Asked for a concrete pad site (they only have 4 of them). But, didn't realize you need to drive across grass to get on the pad. Came very close to getting stuck in the mud! They need to get a semi or two full of gravel in here. Roads are dirt, so huge puddles of water everywhere. Cable didn't work, and wifi was non-existent. Most everyone in park are living here, and most are pretty shabby. Woman in office was very nice, which was about the only good thing about this place. We won't stay here again because of the conditions. - Mnvb
Oct 2018 - $32.00
If you have a bigger rig, the interior road are very narrow and turns are sharp. Our site was just grass but very close to dead level. The view of the lake just across the highway provides a great view. However, the highway (US 65) is well traveled and the big truck are LOUD. Have earplugs or a white noise machine if your site is the one closest to the highway like ours was. We chose it because it offered room enough for us to turn the 54 feet of our rig and towed. The management is very friendly and helpful. The park is kind of rustic with some nice very mature trees at its west side. Utilities were fine, but the water hookup was difficult to get to. WI-FI has a few hiccups but otherwise was fine. There is no cable but OTA offered NBC,ABC, and a few other less watched channels. - dhaney1944
Jul 2018 - $32.00
We needed to find an overnight stop traveling from Mobile to SW Arkansas. This park fit the bill with grassy sites and easy access from Highway 65. The grounds are mown and maintained. There are numerous full-time units but plenty of spaces for those staying a night or two. We would stay here again if traveling this route in SE Arkansas. - gbburgess

Nice county RV park on the banks of a beautiful lake. Spacious level sites and easy to navigate park roads. Recommend. - User2063
May 2010 - $15.00
We stayed here one night in a 40' 4-slide motorhome and would stay here again. We were in site #2. Not a long site so we had to unhook. Back-in site was not quite level. This is a city park that caters to people/families who like to fish on the weekends. Lots of open grassy space. Has a nice lake area. This is a pleasant place. We stayed on a week day, weekends are probably very busy. Good value for the price. Nice friendly camp host on site. - woodallmd
Nov 2009 - $15.00
This is an older county park. Large paved sites with plenty of space between you and your neighbor. Nice concrete picnic tables on a gravel patio. Sites on the lake have only water and electric. All others are full hookups. Water pressure not very strong. Nice camp host and laid back attitude. Said she would be gone the afternoon we arrived, but to just pick a site and she would find us in the morning to settle up. Only 30 amp electric, and I think not always full 30 amps as we tripped the breakers several times in spite of being careful. Located on the inside loop of the oxbow lake and it takes 20-25 minutes to get into town for any services as you must drive around the lake. You MUST eat at Rhoda's in town. Looks scary from the outside, but the best road food we have ever had. Awesome fried chicken and catfish and homemade pies. We would not only return, but go out of our way to come here! - Wandering Wishnies

Aug 2018 - $25.00
This park is right on the Mississippi but a little out of the way to get to. Good views of the sunset over the river and amenities for kids. But most of the sites are not level, and messy when raining. They advertise FHU, but only at 30 Amp sites. So, 50 amp rigs will need to use their dump station. No cable or internet. No one there to greet you, employee shows up later on to collect the $25 in cash. OK if you are a fisherman as they have a boat ramp. Good value for an overnight stay only. - aw2fortheroad
Jun 2018 - $25.00
We love the view from this park the sunsets and love watching the push boats and the barges. We think at $25 it is a bargain price. Really big RV sites and really close to the Mississippi River. We like traveling the river road and we think this park is the best on the Mississippi River far as view and price. We ended staying here twice as long as we was and hope to come back thru in the fall. We add this parks to CG we love going to. The site was really big. I would recommend this place we plan on coming back. - JustDon
Jun 2017 - $25.00
We were disappointed because we called ahead to ask about availablilty and were never told there had been a rate change. According to their website, the daily fee is $15, $12 for seniors. When the park employee came around to collect the fee, we were charged $25. When I asked why it was so much I was told the fee changed on June 17 and the website had been changed to reflect that. Well, it hasn't. It's a decent park and had we been prepared to pay $25 ahead of time we probably would have stayed more than one night. As it was, we felt robbed since the website indicated a much lower price.
All sites are back in only. Nice view of the river and barges going by. Interior roads are narrow and some corners are tight because of trees on either side of the road. Interior roads are only wide enough for a single lane of traffic. - FnEJ

Nov 2018 - $28.00
We stayed five nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. We loved this park. Spacious sites, great hook up, fantastic location, excellent location. The "A" loop is full hookup 50 amp sites with views of the water but not on the water. The sites are long, appear level, and most have an adjacent parking pad for your tow vehicle or toad. The "B" through "E" loops are smaller sites with electric and water but no sewer. The "F" loop where we chose to stay is full hookup, 30 amp, waterfront. While we would have preferred 50 amp due to the weather we really wanted waterfront and had, in my opinion, the very best site on that loop, site 114. The "F" loop sites are shorter and most will not have room for your tow vehicle on the pad if you are in a rig like ours. However, sites 112-114 are quite long and would work just fine if you are ok with 30 amp service. The restrooms were pretty standard campground type with the exception of the newer one marked on the map as "heated." This one was very modern, with eight individual stalls that each include toilet, sink, and shower. Very nice. We say plenty of deer. The lake was once the main channel of the Mississippi before it was dammed off. Now it is referred to as a, "natural oxbow remnant." We didn't fish but it looks like the fishing would be great. They only have one official hiking trail and it was closed for some reason. That was a shame because it looked like it would be a great walk in the woods. - Moe and Flo are on the go
Oct 2018 - $30.00
We are well seasoned travelers to the Arkansas State Parks. We have visited 44 of the 52 parks, and we have RV camped in all but 3 that have campgrounds. So when we invited friends to have their first AR State Park camping experience with us at Lake Chicot State Park we thought they were in for a treat. How sadly mistaken and embarrassed we were. First the encounter at check-in was unpleasant. A park ranger in the visitor center was helpful after seeing the woman working the desk seemed all but irritated we were there interrupting her day. I ran across one other friendly park employee who was not a ranger...and that was it. Then we headed to our site. The roads in this park are abysmal compared to other AR State Parks. The sewer connection was at least 8" ABOVE ground level. We paid extra for the convenience of a sewer connection for that? I assure you we found no pleasure in working our sewer hose up and down to work our waste UP the grade to dump it. I honestly thought, perhaps, the park was getting set to close down for a complete overhaul. But not so. It is simply horribly maintained. The condition of the dock and rental watercraft was terrible. Another thing that would have been nice would have been had the unfriendly people at the visitor center check-in warn us of the utter infiltration of fire ant colonies all throughout the park. Not that they have the ability to eradicate the fire ants, but a warning that every site, the fields, trails, and all along the road are infested with fire ants would have been nice. I pity the person who comes in after dark to hook up his RV and he or his dog stumble across one of these many mounds. In summary this is the absolutely worst Arkansas State Park experience we have ever had. We had high hopes here, but they failed at every turn. Considering I have NEVER given an Arkansas State Park a negative review of any kind, I can state for certain we will not be returning to this park. Too bad...the lake was very enjoyable for kayaking and fishing. Avoid this park. The Arkansas State Park system has far too many other fine parks with beautiful, well-maintained grounds. - Jeff and Melissa 1105
Jun 2018 - $34.00
We stayed here for 1 night as a stop over for our trip back to Florida from Utah. I got tired of the private campgrounds that were basically a parking lot. This state park is a few miles off of the highway down a 2 lane farm road. It was a nice drive to the park. We did not have reservations but we were able to grab the last pull thru campsite with full hook up. The campsite was level with lots of space between campsites. It was mostly an open grassy area between campsites. The restrooms were dated but clean. Very quiet night in the park. No cell service in the park with either ATT or Verizon. Very nice park that I wish we had more time to visit. - On the Road Again with Dave and Christie

Did not stay at this park, but drove by on the way to Lake Chicot State park. I called to get some details. 6 sites have 50 amp service. They were booked up as most sites are yearly rented. Some sites are available for weekend fishermen. - easydoesit

This overnight site was selected because of its proximity to Greenville, MS. High water made walking along hiking trails impossible at the time of our visit. This very small, remote park attribue was it was soooo quiet during our visit. If you like being alone, well, you've found your park. Enjoy the deer, enjoy the squirrel, but be wary of the alligators in the small nearby lake. - Norton Wine Traveler
Mar 2016 - $23.00
State park with 2/18 sites full service. The rest have the appearance of full service but apparently don't have sewer. The place as clean, lawn mowed. Pads was level. Well worth the price/ - Judy Birchland
Apr 2015 - $20.00
Very old but nice park. Had reservation arrived at 11pm after office closed checked in next morning. Only sites 1, 14 and 15 have sewer and are $2 more per night. Dump station is by site #1 and at a strange angle. Only 16 RV sites total. First night only 8 taken including us, second night 7 one camper we never saw. As mentioned in previous reviews no Wifi and Verizon signal extremely weak. This normally would not be an issue as being disconnected was nice! Except the thunderstorm at 3am that was rocking camper, advise having a weather radio with you as we had to idea if it was severe or not.
Water appears to be well water and has a slight tint but no odor and the pressure seemed low but used my water regulator anyway.
Restrooms are old but clean, previous review said disgusting to which I have to disagree. The latex paint on the walls in the showers has peeled off but is only cosmetic everything is functional and clean. No AC in restrooms but windows open and there is heat for winter campers. Laundry area only one washer and dryer but there are connections for three of each. We did not utilize the laundry facility but I could hear the dryer running from my camp site.
I was unaware of the cafe and snack bar we packed plenty of food so had to need to venture over there. - Nizzy

This is just a parking lot with water and electric hookups. They do have 50 amp and water pressure is good. The sites are paved and level. It was adequate for our week stay. There are not other parks in the area that we would consider. - zrxh14
Mar 2010 - $13.00
There are numerous back-in sites on pavement with scattered covered picnic tables. Two dump stations are available but there are no sewer hook ups. No frills, but for the price it was a really good deal. Verizon worked well. We would stay again. - BigRigTravelerUSA
