Felt fortunate to find a creek side site here! Yes, spaces here are tight, close together & most are not level but park has just upgraded all sites to full hook up including sewer & auto pay system NOW accepts credit cards. Each site seems to have a grill OR fire pit, but not both. A wonderful mix of campers made our 2 night stay most interesting. Used the 1.4 mi. hiking trail into town since we travel in 26 ft. Class C without toad. Trail into town is well maintained, with moderate inclines. That said, only steep incline is just as you are entering town by the Fordyce Visitor Center. On the way home, there are stone stairs & a steep uphill climb on the trail that was a challenge for this 70-year old short legged lady! Just wish we could have lingered another couple of days here .... We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to tour the Fordyce Bath House. We did the self guided but there are park ranger guided tours at 11:00 am & 2:00 pm. Highly recommend the Superior Bath House Brewery lunches! Had great panini sandwich & tomato bisque soup! Best tomato soup I've ever, ever had!!

Great park for a National Park. We got a new site stream side. Helpful Rangers and camp hosts. No reservations accepted, so it's first come first served. There were plenty of open sites when we pulled in. No showers available. Restrooms were very clean. Park is just a short drive to downtown Hot Springs. We would stay here again. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We loved staying at the Gulpha Gorge Campground. Our full hookup site was a nice size and we felt like we had plenty of room even during the July 4th weekend. We did arrive early and scope out a spot where someone was leaving since the park was full that weekend. We ended up staying about 5 days and hiking the trails. I wish we'd been able to get a site on the river...maybe next time.

The sites didn't have fire rings, but did have grills. The bathrooms (no showers) were serviceable and smelled clean enough, but the wall could have used a good scrubbing to remove dust, mold and cobwebs. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is first come, no reservations and a holiday, so site selection was limited. Our site was downhill slope but we were good. We like the quiet here; our second stay. We had full hookup which to us is unusual in a National Park. While sites are close, we did not notice. Some road noise. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

$10 for site without hookups. Great NPS campground with easy access to the trail network and downtown Hot Springs. There were two hosts alternating shifts during peak season, plus regular patrols by rangers. As others have said, no showers on site so use your rig or head to Bathhouse Row. Both hookup and tent sites are available along the creek, and they are also the farthest back from the highway. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

RV parking is limited around downtown Hot Springs. There is an hourly lot with three pull-through spaces at Spring Street and Central Avenue. Tons of free parking for cars along Exchange Street. The public lot had a 9' height restriction, but smaller Class B's and vans still fit in the spots.

This park does not take reservations, but once you are there you can stay up to 14 nights. Beautiful location and a good place to wade in the river. Lot spacing is very close with some shade. Site surfaces are concrete pads featuring a picnic table. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

What a gorgeous spot! Campground nestled in a ravine with a babbling creek. No reservations accepted here so you arrive and hope for the best but it is possible to get a lovely campsite backing up to the creek. There are two really wonderful hiking trails over the creek. The creek has both shallow areas and deep pools. It was too cold for swimming when we were there but we saw a lot of wading. We will be back! We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Hot Springs is a lovely town with all the major historic sights in a small central area making a walking tour of the promenade a pleasure. If you are really into hiking it is feasible to hike to the town over the ridge as there are well marked trails. Blacksnake road drive is a wonderful challenging drive if you like curves and switchback. (Don't even think of trying that with a trailer!) Another great drive is up to the viewing tower.

There is a lot of things to do in Hot Springs. We fill up our water jugs with the local water at the various water stations. Some are cold and some are hot.

Well maintained campground located right on a creek. Nice hiking trails and views from the mountaintop. The only issues would be no showers in the bathrooms. Only a few sites are open sky enough for a roof mounted satellite antenna to be effective. And, the trees were of some nut variety similar to walnuts or pecans and when they "dump" on the roof, it sounds like shots fired, all day and all night. Camp hosts were very nice and informative. We would not hesitate to stay here any time. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects half price for senior citizen. Pay at an automated machine, which is easy to operate and which is inside a building. But it takes cash only. Most sites are water and electric, fairly well-spaced, and most are level. Some are pretty close to the road, but traffic is light (almost non-existent) at night. We were there for the weekend and almost all the water/electric sites were occupied. Many of the non-hookup sites were available. Nestled in an attractive gorge at the base of a mountain with a pretty little stream next to the campground, and there is a hiking trail (about a mile) which goes up and over to "bathhouse row" on the other side of the mountain. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Gulpha Gorge is a urban campground next to a highway that takes you into town. The highway has a lot of traffic, but you get used to it. This park is a first come first serve. It has a long walking trail, almost 1 mile long. They have a automated machine that checks you in and takes your money. You need to make sure you have the correct amount when you are paying. There are no showers, but nice bathrooms. Our Verizon works great here. If you are using satellite make sure you dish is mobile. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.
