Pretty campground with FULL hookups, sites of various sizes, pretty stream. We arrived around noon and were able to find a large site in the middle. Our site was not level front to back, but most were. No road noise inside our camper. Sites were filled almost as soon as someone pulls out, so have a plan B in place. Pick a site, then use the kiosk at the registration building to pay. Concrete picnic table, grill and fire ring. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Diligent camp hosts, made their rounds frequently. Met us as we came in and escorted us to show us available sites. No reservations accepted and park filled up most nights (Saturday night had vacancies, go figure) by mid afternoon. Sites a bit close. Marginally big rig friendly. Back of rig sits pretty close to space behind. Length of pad was not quite long enough for truck, parked at restroom, was fine. But we would come back, pleasant park. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very nice hiking trails accessed from campground. Bathhouse row was impressive. Must have a "real" swim suit and flip flops. Observation tower had great views and historical displays, $5. Woodbine Race Track /casino interesting. Public water fountains in area where locals and tourists fill water bottles, many water bottles.

We arrived on a Thursday and there were about 15 sites to choose from. I think we got one of the best, right on the creek and by a little water fall too. The camp hosts call into the rangers at 10 and 4 and give them the number of open sites left. We called on our way in and got the good news, though I would recommend having a plan B just in case they are filled in. All the sites are full hook up and paved. The kiosk where you pay is simple to use and takes credit cards. The camp hosts saw us walking around looking at the available sites and gave us a lift and tour in the golf cart. We played in the creek. We hiked the 4 mile round trip trail into town several times. We had only planned to be in the area for 3 nights, but loved the campground and the hot springs area so much we kept extending our stay, which is a great advantage to a no reservation campground. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Start at the National Park visitors center and take ond of their free tours. Also the city's visitors center is worth stopping in for more local information too. Parking is free in town at sites with meters after 5:00 and on weekends. There is also a free parking garage in town too.

This campground is located in Hot Springs National Park and is all FHU sites. It is a really nice campground although some of the sites are a little close together. We had a perfect site (#27) that had shrubs on both sides for privacy an backed up to Gulpha Gorge Springs. It is first come first serve, so we felt fortunate to get the spot we did. Our site was level, we saw several of the interior sites that needed many blocks to level. I've read some reviews about the homeless using this park. We met one person that said he was homeless but he had a tent on a campsite so I'm assuming he paid. It was in the 30's several nights so he said he was going to go to Walmart for the night. A single lady told us one of the tenters came knocking at her door asking for coffee, so she ended up moving sites to be closer to the camp hosts. Probably our biggest complaint would be that the park is not secure and it does have a lot of people coming through it. We did see a ranger drive through a couple of times a day, but evidently the camp hosts are only there to keep the facilities clean. It was a self-serve check in. All utilities worked well. AT&T coverage was good as was Verizon. We were able to get a satellite signal at our site. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground, all sites are FHU sites with 50AMP, there are 44 sites but only 39 for the general public. All sites are back in sites. There is a dump station and water fill site. I wouldn't call it a full big rig campground, there are many short sites, big rigs can get around the campground, be carefull. All streets and sites are paved, this is a nonreservation park, all sites are first come first served. Verizon has a great signal, over air TV is good, dish may work in some sites. Plenty of things to do in the area. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Gulpha Gorge National Park Campground at the suggestion of the bar man at the Heart Break Hotel in Memphis. We were planning on staying at Little Rock however given his knowledge of the area decided to go with his recommendation. We were so pleased we did! We arrived to the friendly smile of the newly appointed camp volunteers who guided us to a well elevated site with full hook up. Once we were settled they came over to make sure we were settled in OK. The payment at this campground is via a vending type machine in the common room, something we hadn't encountered before. The campground is also open to day visitors with picnic tables along the rivers edge. The township of Hot Springs is an easy hike up and over the mountain, or you can obviously drive there as well. The friendly volunteers invited us to join them in the hike on the second day we were there. Being visitors from Australia we had been dreaming of a white Christmas and we certainly got our wish with 8 inches of snow falling on Christmas night! The only downfall was that the power went off due to trees falling across the power lines further up the road. Once again the volunteers checked in on everyone staying at the campground helping out where they could. After three days of no power we decided to pull up stumps and head off somewhere were we could dry out! The park was beautifully maintained and we would definitely recommend staying there. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent park! Quiet and lovely and very close to the main attraction. Interior roads and site pads are paved with very good spacing and all are partial to fully shaded. Verizon coverage was good. Patrolled regularly be Park Police and camp host was terrific. We arrived around 5 pm, just after a violent micro-burst thunderstorm. Power was out and a couple trees were down in the campground. Host was very helpful in getting us a clear site. One downed tree was removed before dusk, the power was back within 3 hours.and the other downed tree was completely gone the following day. Great work! We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate with Golden Age Passport. This National Park CG is outstanding in all respects. There are no showers but restrooms are clean. Sites and roads are all paved. Sites with minor slopes, 30/50, sewer and water. Lots of trees for shade. The stream is picturesque. Self service check in & no reservations. Volunteers do most of the maintenance and cleaning plus man the Visitor Center sign-in desk at Fordyce Bathhouse and conduct the guided tour. Trails are in good shape and the hike from CG to Hot Springs & Fordyce Bathhouse takes under an hour. Parking in Hot Springs can be a problem so the hike is a good option. Cell phone signal & Wi-Fi signal not great but okay. On the air TV reception marginal. AR 7s runs past the CG entrance and there is some truck traffic during the day, not so much at night. When one thinks National Park CG this is not what you expect. Lots of sights to see in Hot Springs & history back to 1832. We would definitely stop here again. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate was with Golden Age card, so half price. What a find! A NP cg with full hook-ups on a beautiful little stream. We loved it here. The volunteers were very helpful and friendly, the part was spotless. We happened to get a site where our satellite worked, our Verizon wireless worked, beautiful sites--what more could you ask for? To us Hot Springs National Park is a very good park. Some of the sites are sloping to the front of camper quite a bit. Self check in, after selecting site enter all your information in machine which will take cash or credit card. No showers. Rate is with Golden Age Passport. No showers available. Short cut road next to campground and very noisy for a national park. No security. Camp sites are not level and require extra extension and blocks to level up rig. No one available to register you or to help with anything at all. All done by electronic machine that requires only cash to function. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.
