Easy to find, get to attractions and very pretty park next to stream. Would absolutely stay again. Friendly hosts and park service through often. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed this park very much, especially the full hook-ups for such a low price. (Our rate reflects the 50% senior discount.) Our site was a back-in next to the creek and was paved with a picnic table. No fire pit, but there was a grill. Good location for exploring the town and nice hiking up the hill right from the campground. There probably would be some road noise, but with our windows closed, we heard nothing. One bar of ATT LTE, but it was pretty unusable with out boosting. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a wonderful national park campgrounds. The sites are first come, first serve. The campsites are very close together and very clean. ATT phone service was very good. There were 3 or 4 OTA tv channels available. The problem: everyone goes to national parks for the beauty of the park and desire a peaceful scenic setting. That did not happen during the five days we were at the park. The leaves were just turning and some were falling off the trees, not many. The park management had the employees out with leaf blowers everyday all day long. The employee would blow the leaves out to the road and then a street sweeper would drive by to vacuum up the leaves. Again, all day, five full days. Not only did we have to endure the hours of the noise everyday but the dust and air particles forced us inside our camper with the a/c turned off. All this noise and dust was just a waste of time because the leaves would be falling off the trees for the next month. Very sad that management has forgotten national parks are for the peaceful enjoyment for all. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Since you can't make reservations at this campground we decided to come a little early to check it out. Upon arrival which was a Thursday we founds several empty sites and we styles in for a 3 night stay which ended up being a 4 night stay. We chose a site on a running creek with shoe trees. It is perfect. The site is spacious with a concrete pad with all the amenities - electric, water and sewer. The site is level and comes with a cool breeze. From this campground you can easily access the downtown bathhouses which we soaked it for $20. We took a ride up to Mount Ida which is the quartz crystal capital of the world. You can go into the mine or field and keep whatever you find for the senior rate of $6 each. Everyday we were here there were camp sights open even over the weekend, so don't worry about it being filled. This might change on the summer, we camped in the second week of May. I highly recommend this campground, it is beautiful, clean and very peaceful. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

A nice park with lots of trees, asphalt site pads, full hookups, and very convenient to downtown Hot Springs. The sites are not as large as the Arkansas State Parks but larger than the KOA. Except for a high traffic road, you will think you are camping in the woods. A hiking trail leads to downtown Hot Springs. Parking a tow vehicle is a little tight. There are some overflow & visitor parking areas available near most sites. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We loved staying at the Gulpha Gorge Campground. Our full hookup site was a nice size and we felt like we had plenty of room even during the July 4th weekend. We did arrive early and scope out a spot where someone was leaving since the park was full that weekend. We ended up staying about 5 days and hiking the trails. I wish we'd been able to get a site on the river...maybe next time.

The sites didn't have fire rings, but did have grills. The bathrooms (no showers) were serviceable and smelled clean enough, but the wall could have used a good scrubbing to remove dust, mold and cobwebs. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is first come, no reservations and a holiday, so site selection was limited. Our site was downhill slope but we were good. We like the quiet here; our second stay. We had full hookup which to us is unusual in a National Park. While sites are close, we did not notice. Some road noise. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

This park does not take reservations, but once you are there you can stay up to 14 nights. Beautiful location and a good place to wade in the river. Lot spacing is very close with some shade. Site surfaces are concrete pads featuring a picnic table. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

What a gorgeous spot! Campground nestled in a ravine with a babbling creek. No reservations accepted here so you arrive and hope for the best but it is possible to get a lovely campsite backing up to the creek. There are two really wonderful hiking trails over the creek. The creek has both shallow areas and deep pools. It was too cold for swimming when we were there but we saw a lot of wading. We will be back! We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Hot Springs is a lovely town with all the major historic sights in a small central area making a walking tour of the promenade a pleasure. If you are really into hiking it is feasible to hike to the town over the ridge as there are well marked trails. Blacksnake road drive is a wonderful challenging drive if you like curves and switchback. (Don't even think of trying that with a trailer!) Another great drive is up to the viewing tower.

The proximity to downtown Hot Springs is a plus for this campground (5 minutes). Due to sequestration, there is no longer a Park Ranger on site, so there is no access control and transients were a concern to us with young children playing outside. You pay using a machine and while were there it was cash only. There are no showers and the restrooms needed cleaning, so we were glad to have full hookups. Sites are paved, level and are well spaced. No fire rings, but each space has a grill. The large trees and clear spring create a nice ambience, but there is some noise with large trucks downshifting on the nearby road. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and would return. The check-in machine wasn't taking credit cards (it seems they never are). Otherwise this is a very nice campground. We were a little rushed when we checked in and chose a site that wasn't very level. We should have taken a little more time to select a better site. The park host told us she was a little surprised we took that spot because of the tree at the back corner. The sites are pretty close together. The host was very nice and offered us a lot of information about what to do in the area. She also told us that parking was free in the lot near the visitor center on weekends. We really enjoyed our time here. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful campground close to Hot Springs. Only negative is on the right side of camp there is a lot of road noise. Arkansas campgrounds are beautiful and immaculate. The host here was excellent (from Wisconsin). I thoroughly enjoy camping in Arkansas. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park. Close to everything. Large campsites, some by stream that runs through the campground. They don't take reservations, but we didn't have any trouble getting in. Sprint cell service marginal. Our cost reflects National Park passport price. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

I'd say this is one of my all-time favorite parks. I visit often and have never been disappointed. Convenient, beautiful, and the camp hosts are invariably great folks. The rangers are quite vigilant, and camping solo I feel quite safe. Great stream behind some of the sites, this is my favorite hot-weather campground due to abundant shade and water. The only downside to this campground is no showers, but there are full hookups. We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Absolutely the nicest little park I have stayed at. The sites are beautiful and have lush grass and huge trees very shaded and tucked into the valley. Just a short drive around the mountain to the hot springs or hike if you're up to it. I couldn't be happier with this park. It is so pretty. Was only planning on spending a night ended up staying 3. If you come tour the bathhouse museum it's a must do and the restaurant Andrews across the street is amazing too We camped at Gulpha Gorge Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
