Love Arkansas State Parks! We were just passing through and called on a Friday night and surprisingly the park was very empty. This park is off Interstate 40 a good 10 miles or more, not bad roads but it is a drive. They were changing their computer systems and apparently that diminished their usual volume of campers. All the spots in our area were back-in but we saw a lot of pull throughs on our way to our section. They have all the amenities and the spaces are long with extra space for cabanas or tents and a concrete pad with picnic tables and fire rings, very spacious and shaded. The cabins at the park are lovely and most were booked. I can see bringing a non-camping friend along for a great experience. The beach at Lake Dunn was a work in progress but it wasn't inviting. They had just graded it with heavy machinery - before and after it rained. There were fisherman there but no swimmers. We didn't see the Beach at Lake Austell, maybe it was better? Very good experience we would definitely stop again! You rock Arkansas Parks! We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Was very hot and muggy, so we did not see as much as we would have liked. Site 51 is easy back in and generally good. T-Mobile signal not existent. Loose, small crushed rock around pad not so great. Boat ramp nearby drive and good kayak lake (no gas motors). Sites do not have direct water access. Beach was washed out, but the lake was still enjoyable in the very small swimming area. Quiet and peaceful. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was my first time RVing . I was very impressed with the park and the space for the RV. The spot we had was very quiet and private. There are a lot of raccoons and they got into our trash. Still learning about all this! We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were in 46 which was a back in site. We were there 4 nights and in December you are pretty much alone there. Occasionally another camper there for one night. It's very well lit. 46 is by the bathrooms there were not locked for the winter, by the playground and swimming area. There is some drive through traffic and some fishermen. We have Verizon and we had mostly one bar sometimes two but until we were at the visitor center we always had a little service. We also had a few TV channels by antenna. Had the major stations, had to turn the antenna and re-scan frequently. Lots of deer so drive carefully. The park is very scattered out. From where we were it took about 1o minutes to get out of the park. We are from the area and knew we could take the Hwy 1 bypass to Colt then 306 (I believe) to the park turn off, less curvy, much better route. It's very quiet (again it was December, two weeks before Christmas). I wouldn't camp in that spot in warm weather, we don't have small kids so the playground being right there might be a bit much. Most campsites in the B loop have lake views. Lots of dumpsters in the lower campground, just cans in the B loop. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat @ Mike's in Colt - steak or catfish It's the Delta - in late spring, summer & fall mosquitoes will be one of large challenge. Visitor Center @ the park is ok but the one @ Mississippi River State park is very nice, new- nice park to check out & within less than an hour from Village Creek. Plenty raccoons at Village Creek, don't leave any food out.

Overall Rating:

Similar to our other encounters at Arkansas State Parks, Village Creek SP is terrific. The 13 miles from I-40 were very slow due to narrow, winding, freshly graveled roads and a surprising amount of traffic. The interior roads are in excellent shape but long and winding. Our site, B46, is a back-in with full hookup and 50 amp service. It is a cement slab with plenty of length, but required some side to side leveling. Be advised that the sewer is at the back of the site, so an extension may be needed depending on your rig configuration. This was an overnight stay only, so we didn't get to enjoy all this park has to offer. So peaceful and quiet. Can you believe tennis, golf and TWO lakes? There is an impressive equestrian loop that we toured due to a wrong turn. No AT&T cell service. Our only real negative would be the aroma of an animal carcass near our site. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park. 13 miles off I40, at Forrest City, between Memphis and Little Rock. Park sits in a valley between two ridges. Absolutely NO CELL service, and it was wonderful! We talked and played cards and had a good time, knowing it was for a short time. Restrooms were new. They are rebuilding all the cabins. Sites with sewer are $10 more. Small lake, but access is down steep hill. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We got in late and had to leave pretty early the next morning. What we were able to see, we liked. We stayed in space 47 - a FHU Pull through site that was within 50 yards of the lake. There looked to be nice hikes in our campground, as well as at the Ranger Station. OTA was OK, Cell coverage was poor and there were too many trees for the DISH. Lots of space between sites. CG is a decent drive from I-40, but worth the trip. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

This park is fabulous. Peaceful with NO outside noises other than nature itself. Lots to do and if you have a horse you can trailer in, stable, and stay in your own rig and then go riding on the trails. Makes me want a horse! The restrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. I did notice there wasn't a heater and as others mentioned no ventilation. Lots of open spaces and we enjoyed watching the deer come out to graze. The lake was pretty with the trees changing color and I wondered about the "beach". Not good for laying on but it didn't matter at this time of year. Just a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the sites and sounds of nature. No cell phone service and no satellite. Perhaps another more open site would give you some reception but not where we were. Very nice staff at the front desk. We look forward to returning. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park, and surprisingly empty for a mid-June weekend. Other reviews are accurate. There are great trails and two lakes. Our site was supposed to be 37' long, but I think it was more like 30', so if reserving a site, choose a slightly longer site than you normally would. Tips for other Campers:

I just wanted to reiterate that there is NO CELL SERVICE in this park, even for those who have Verizon. You might get an occasional signal in some of the higher elevations in the park, but do not depend on it. The Verizon store in Wynne told us that they are building two additional towers in the area and that the signal might get better after they are built but that won't be until mid-2018.

Beautiful park and sites. Helpful staff. We rated it down due to lack of ANY ventilation in the restrooms. Excessive heat with NO exhaust fans or A/C! Also very limited/unattractive swimming/beach areas. Ask to see excellent videos in visitor center where you register. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Village Creek Park is a very nice state park with two small lakes for kayaking/fishing, plenty of trails for hiking and/or trail-running, tennis courts (a bit old and cracked, but still servicable) and lots of roads to bike on. There is a huge horse camping area with great stables. Guests can reserve camp sites online Staff members were very friendly and helpful. We did have an issue with high voltage tripping our surge protector a few times. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed attending one of numerous nature programs offered at the park. The Park Interpreter was one of the most enthusiastic we have ever met! We also found it fun to bird-watch at Village Creek, and spotted our first Mississippi Kites there. We visited in mid-May, and were not bothered at all by mosquitoes. We understand they can get quite bad later in the summer though.

We found this campground very quiet and relaxing. We camped in the lower loops and found all the sites very level. The campground was clean, had water and electric. We had a great bike ride down to the visitors center/store. The ladies down there were extremely friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do at this park from boating, bike riding, horse back riding and hiking. It is 13 miles off off I-40 but worth the trip. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautifully spacious, level, wooded campsites nicely spread out w/ excellent paved interior roads. Spent three nights on the way to Paducah, KY. Have only visited two Arkansas state parks, but both have been very, very nice. Would certainly recommend and stay again. We were in a 27' C-class MH.
