Banbury is located on beautiful Skaha Lake, and if you are lucky enough to get on the south side, its an amazing stay. We have camped here a few times now and while our stay has been OK, it has left something to be desired. The facilities, such as washroom, showers, and laundry room, are sadly outdated and not cleaned often enough. At the rates Banbury is charging, they should be able to give the facilities a makeover and clean more often, especially during peak times. From what I can see this is the highest rate for a campground and for what they offer, its too much. Add on that the customer service is terrible. We recently attempted to book a site for next summer, despite the facilities falling short of meeting basic needs, but was spoken to extremely rudely on the phone. I emailed at 12 am on Sept 5, the day the woman who works in the office said they would begin taking reservations, but was rudely told that all the sites I requested were already spoken for. Which leads me to believe that she is doing favours for other guests, as I find it impossible that that many people were also emailing at midnight and got their requests in before us. Overall the customer service is non existent. We wont bother spending money at this campground in the future. We camped at Banbury Green in a Tent.

The rating regarding the shower could have been just when I used it but it was full of hair and dirty. If you are a family camping just beware that campers can come and go into all hours of the night. It was an issue the second night when the parties showed up in the next two sites beside us. They were coming and going well past 1am and were up drinking until 3:30am. Not a lot of sound proofing in a tent trailer so, needless to say, we didn't get a lot of sleep. We spoke to the manager in the morning who said her son comes by until midnight but never saw him either night and he would have seen what was going on if he had. Wouldn't stay there again because they don't seem to enforce any sort of quiet time or have much of a presence. We camped at Banbury Green in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Skaha Beach. It's really pretty and our kids loved the shallow water.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed many times at Banbury.

The good: the location - some spots are right on the lake, amenities are great - showers, washrooms, watercraft rentals, dog friendly, playground, close to town if you need anything.

The bad: We paid $55 a night last June for Father's Day weekend. We are locals. This is just too much money. Also - the management is rude. The customer service is poor. Nobody wanders around to check on things or see if people need anything or how their stay is. Once that office is closed, they are gone. We camped at Banbury Green in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Try to get a spot on the lake - but when you can swim in the lake. You might as well get good use of the lake if you are paying $55 a night.

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This was the most expensive Park we stayed at out of 8 during this trip. If towing, don't take the southern access via Ash Ave. It is a twisty one lane gravel road with a hair pin turn to the entrance. Take the northern access off the Hwy onto Pineview Drive. Approach this access from the north but if towing go past and use the turnaround and approach from the north. If it wasn't for the uneven sites, large tree roots, overgrown weeds, and tree branches, plus the sewer connections that are raised above ground level my rating would have been higher. Wi-Fi is only accessible right at the office. It is a beautiful setting right on Shaka Lake. Very dog friendly park with the Kettle Valley Rail Trail right at your doorstep. Watch out for the poison ivy. Beautiful night views of across the lake and quiet. Yes we would stay here again. We camped at Banbury Green in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Full hook-ups right in front of Skaha Lake, how good is that? Wi-Fi is at the office only. Sites are natural grass and sand with some tree roots to make leveling a bit of a challenge. Good 30amp and good water. Long hill down from the highway with narrow road. Right turn off of the highway from the south is NOT recommended as the entrance is too narrow for even a car to make it without backing up. Turn left from North is safer but still a bit tricky because of traffic volume. Pet friendly. Right on the KVR for walking or cycling. Great lake for boating (boat launch at the end of the campground). This park can be VERY crowded in peak season but was quiet in mid-Sept. 10kms from Pentiction south on Hwy 97. We camped at Banbury Green in a Motorhome.

It is a busy place with people packed together side by side. It is a beautiful spot on the lake with beautiful green lawns and a lake view. The facilities are old but clean. We have stayed in most of the RV parks in Penticton and this one is the quietest with a very nice staff. Rowdy people are encouraged to camp elsewhere, which we are thankful about. The drive in is tricky down a steep slope. I am not certain we will return because we enjoy the TV and Internet which were lacking. But there is a Wi-Fi hot spot at the office. We camped at Banbury Green in a Fifth Wheel.
