Agree with others, nice park, the guide to the site needed as the layout of the park can be difficult to understand at first. Chose a back in site because they are about $8 - 10/night cheaper and we would be unhooking anyway. Site 52 is very large and at the edge of the park, however, it had been raining (and a little snow) so it was a very wet site but we stayed because we enjoyed hearing the frogs at night. Both back ins and pull thru sites have large and small sizes to accommodate all rigs. Recommend only for self sufficient units as only restrooms are near office and the cabins. Previous review must have arrived from the south on Hwy 49 - not recommended but Hwy 12/49 from north or Hwy 49/4 is also very doable with our 35' Class A motor home. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

In the scenic Gold Country foothills in Central CA. Narrow, very steep winding roads getting up to Angels Camp. Grades in the 8%+ range. RV park is nice enough. Pretty scenery with lots of trees turning colors in the fall. Roads are paved in the older section, and sites are pretty tight with sharp corners and tree issues. Obviously designed for much smaller RV's. Site surfaces are gravel and dirt with a fire ring and picnic table. Trees block satellite reception and no cable available. Pool is seasonal. Wifi is available, but limited and slow/non-existent if the park is busy with weekenders. Staff seem attendant and roam around on their golf carts keeping park tidy. Very expensive considering limited amenities. Looks like they are building a new section which currently isn't paved, but the sites look much larger and easier to navigate. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a rustic sort of park with about 80 sites of both pull throughs and back in's. The pull through sites are longer. We were escorted to our site, and it's a good thing because we had to reject it upon seeing it. The site was long enough, but the trees between the sites really needed some trimming. I managed to pull into the site, but there was no way to open the slides without pushing them into the overhanging tree branches. Our guide was pretty understanding and called the office on his radio to get us a different site. After a bit of arm twisting by our guide, he led us to a different site that was much more open. The only drawback to the new site was that it was a group of sites that were cut into a terraced hill. The site was wide enough for the rig, but the ground naturally sloped up towards the next site. This made the outside space next to the rig too uneven to put chairs on, so we put the Jeep in back of the rig and sat in front. All the sites are gravel/dirt so there is a bit of dust. We were able to get satellite from this site, and it was FHU with 50 amp power. There were handicapped accessible restrooms available. Wifi was offered, but our on board Wifi worked acceptably. There are some cow grazing nearby, so there was the occasional "farm" smell drift by at times, as well as some fly's and mosquito's to watch out for. One thing I wasn't crazy about was the layout of the pull through sites. Even though the sites were terraced, they set them up "Jack & Jill" style. So that made our up hill neighbors patio face our patio. Even though there were light bushes on the hill separating the sites, we felt like they were in our conversations while sitting outside. This is a decent park. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Dear SargeW
Thank you for visiting and your input. We are just about to complete a major expansion (37 new very large sites) to our resort which will accommodate large rigs, Park Models and Tiny Homes. We strive to provide level, well trimmed sites and your comment will help us rectify the issues you described. Thanks again!
Hope to have you come again soon and see the improvements!

We had site #30 which is one of the pull-thru sites towards the back of the park. It was compacted gravel ... level and fairly quiet even with the nearby the cabins. We were escorted to our site once we checked in. Hookups worked well. WiFi signal was strong but speed slow. Typical campground wifi. Overall a nice play to stay late in the fall. Great park. Advertised as having level pull-thru sites, but it seems we were assigned the only non-level pull-thru site which created leveling problems for our 40'+ MH. The site was sloped excessively side to side, which also made for uncomfortable seating outside. Not worth moving as we were only there a few days. Sites are terraced and separated from each other usually by vegetation. Facility was very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the "back side" of the park and except for the one night music festival at the nearby fairgrounds (all over by 10pm), nights were very peaceful. We'll be back again. Tips for other Campers:

Road from Angels Camp (town) to campground was up, down and twisty, much more fun to drive in our Mustang than the MH. However, it was freshly paved and smooth. Town looked like fun but we didn't go in except for errands. Food at Rod's Grille is good but a little pricey.

I work while traveling so I need good internet. Park WIFI was not good in the corner we were in and my Verizon Hotspot was mediocre. Staff said they had good internet at the meeting room in the office, but I did not use it. The sight we had was a back in site in the far corner. Nice site with some trees. Level and the utilities were within easy reach. We were short a table but a call to the office brought an immediate response and a table. Staff was friendly, site was level gravel, neighbors were great. Hard to beat that. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We are happy you chose to spend some time with us, but are sorry about the pool. We had a pump go down and being a holiday, had to wait to get the part. Without the pump, we legally had to close the pool. We apologize for the inconvenience and rest assured, we were as unhappy as any guest over the problem! Please visit us again.

We had a pull-though site which was roomy enough for our rig, all four slides and the tow vehicle. There was really nice "front porch area" space with a picnic table and a fire ring. It was all gravel. We were in site #30 and we happened to be there during the week so the park was relatively empty. While we really enjoyed this site it was right across from the playground and group dining area. It just so happened no one was in the site next to us. Tent camping was directly in front of us and the cabins were directly behind us. We suspected this site would have been very loud and busy on a weekend. But for our stay it was fantastic. There is another entire area (maybe for longer stays or full time living) which is on the front - lower half of the park and far from the main activities area. The park was laid out well and has a good sized pool area and the playground was very nice, lots of fun for kids and a great place for families and pets! The office staff was very nice and efficient. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We drove into Columbia and walked for a few hours through the historic state park. Be sure to stop in the saloon for a cold one! Local beers as well as sarsaparilla on tap! Close by is also Sonora with beautiful architecture and shops. If you are looking for a great lunch visit "Mi Pueblo" on Washington Street. (in Sonora) You can eat a delicious lunch outside on the patio and watch the creek flowing by.

We recently stayed here, we were in a 37' fifth wheel with 3 slides.

Reservation process worked smoothly. We arrived during their lunch hour, and the office closes during lunch. But they had our information posted right on the front door.

Location was easy to find, but if you are driving a larger unit, roads are very curvy and narrow. Postings on the road that units over a certain size aren't advised on the roads.

Our site was great, very private, fairly level. Water, electricity, and sewer all worked ok. Our particular site had large flowering trees around it, which were great for privacy, but also seemed to attract many, many bees. No big deal for us, but if you a concern about bees, you may want to note that when you make your reservations.

Even though the RV park is closed to the highway, we didn't seem to hear any road noise.

There is a pool on site, small but adequate for a quick dip. No hot tub.

We didn't use the wi-fi very much, but had ok reception with our AT&T cell phones.

Many attractions in the area, including caves, state parks, and many wineries. Also, if you are up for a long day trip, can get to the west entrance of Yosemite.

Bathrooms were ok, nothing special, but they were clean. It does seem to be an older park, roads are narrower, but the privacy of many of the sites can't be beat. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
