Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is a National Forest Service government campground. We camped off-season in March, and all nearby NFS campgrounds were closed, except for a small part of Lupine (a large campground). The reservation link incorrectly listed it as closed.

We had a level site in an area with large trees - very attractive. Most other sites in the loop were deep and reasonably level. Our truck-trailer total length is 39 feet and we fit with some room to spare. We have an 18' travel trailer, and larger RVs may have difficulty finding a space to park their truck or towed vehicle. Logs and very low fences prevent off-road parking. Rest rooms were clean with flush toilets. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

Bass Lake (March, 2015) was very low, with maybe a hundred feet of dry land between docks of lakeside homes and water. The host said water may be added to the lake later, but was not sure because of the drought.

First timers: Be careful to go to the South side of the lake. The North side (Road 274) has only one RV campground (per RVParkReviews), and there are few places for RVs with a large turning radius to turn around. Go to the Visitor Info kiosk in Oakhurst and get a Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau Visitors Guide for a local map. One approach is to drive East on Road 426 from Oakhurst, veering left at the 426/223 intersection, and then veering right at the 426/222 intersection. Road 222 and adjacent roads were not displayed on our late model top-of-the-line Garmin GPS.

We spent one night at this campground, and would stay again. There were no hookups, but there was a nearby water faucet. I don't remember if we had a picnic table or fire ring as we arrived late and left early, but assume both are available. Cost was about $23. I forgot the exact amount. A tax was added, so the cost is not an even dollar. Bring change with you. We camped at Lupine-Cedar Bluffs in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

I was a member here for a couple years. Read all the reviews. Agree with most. Our take is Bass Lake offers a lot of activities. A lot to do: trails, fishing, take the boat out, Pines Village. If you have a car go to Oakhurst and Coarsgold, and Yosemite. The campground can be noisy and what the other member said, the staff can be really rude. They really try to sell you a membership if you are not a current member. Wish they would spend the due money on improvements. It is true sites can be hard to back into. Lots of trees and a small hike, but it's scenic. The manager can be rude and direct at times. You have to come right back at him. It is a nice campground and we would go back. Gets real crowded during the holidays, but what campground doesn't. Have to book way in advance. We camped at Lupine-Cedar Bluffs in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

I would give it a 10 if the site has hookup. Beautiful and clean. Bass lake is 100 yard away. I've been to many lakes and Bass lake is definitely up there. The road to the campground is very twisty so drive slow. Site is on asphalt with generous space. Lots of trees. The only thing I don't like is they put rocks around the campsite which make it hard to navigate around. This campground is 40 minute from Yosemite Valley, which makes it an ideal location if you cannot find a campsite in Yosemite. Dump station is 5 minutes drive from the campground. We camped at Lupine-Cedar Bluffs in a Motorhome.
