38 RV Parks near Calpine, California
Jul 2009 - $19.00
We camped here in order to attend an evening concert at the Kentucky Mine, which is 7 miles away. Worked perfectly for that purpose. This stretch of 49 is a good road to travel at night. However, the campground has seen much better days. Sites are not level and are very small, but our RV is smallish and we got our 1 slide out. There is fresh drinking water, but it is not possible to fill RV tanks with it. Too bad we were counting on that. Very good camp hosts. There is a hiking trail within the park, along the creek. Not well-maintained (wear your boots!) but pretty. Note that fee of $19 does not include $9 reservation fee through recreation.gov (ouch!) or additional tax. Fee is awfully high for pretty primitive camping. - JCLC
Apr 2019 - $50.00
This is a campground we visit often and we love it here. The park hosts and the employees who work at the park are all so friendly and helpful. The site we were in this time was not near the river (because we got a new rig and it's too big for the sites near the river) but was absolutely beautiful just the same. We visited the first weekend they opened for the season and they had everything set up (ping pong, corn hole, horse-shoes, etc) for the campers enjoyment. I hate to tell people about this campground as it's a best kept secret, but it's such a nice place I have to give the park kudos. If you just want to get away for some peace and quiet, this is the place. If you want to get out an explore a bit, there are many lakes and sites to see nearby - all within a short drive from the park. This visit we focused on the railways and numerous cool bridges in the area as well as the waterfalls and rivers that were gushing with water this time of year. So beautiful! - ORF

Great Park in a beautiful setting. Spacious sites. Wifi was intermittent. - Maltaman
Jul 2018 - $50.00
We have used this park for the past nine (9) years at least 3-5 trips per season. They changed ownership in 2017. With new management things started to change. Long gone is management that cares to make your stay comfortable. Gone are a reliable wifi internet, weed cleaned dog park, or any of several attributes which has caused us to return each year. The ownership lives in San Francisco and the management is seasonal. Your desires for a generalized site location are ignored to maximize occupancy. So, after nine years, we are gone. - Long Path
Jul 2016 - $44.00
We are happy to report that there has been a change in ownership of this park and all previous issues have been addressed and corrected that I wrote about in my previous comments in July 2006. The park is now owned by those that know what it takes to create a wonderful experience for their guests. We spent several nights last month and the park was very clean and the grounds look refreshed!
They have done an outstanding job clearing dead and over grown trees, upgrading the laundry and game rooms and the general appearance of the grounds are now appealing. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The owners are very friendly and informative.
The eviction of some of the year round riff raff has increased a sense of safety for you and your family. The pool is a delight as it's the only RV park in the area with one!
Feather River RV Park has become the best park in the area. I highly recommend this park for weekend and seasonal campers. - Coastalview
May 2016 - $35.00
We love Feather River now that it is under new ownership, it's like an entirely different place. It's clean, fun, safe, and the people are so friendly. This doesn't count the pool. For our family the pool is a huge plus. I would 100% recommend this camp ground to anyone. - Sam Nolan
May 2016 - $40.00
We have been seasonal campers at this park for over 12 years and have always enjoyed ourselves. We agree that there were issues with all of the previous owners but the park is now owned by a wonderful family that have invested more time and money in the last 6-8 months than all the other owners combined. We spent our first night of the season a couple of weekends ago and the park was as clean as I have ever seen it. The have done an awesome job taking out dead and dying trees, updating the laundry and game rooms, lowered the price for bigger bundles of wood and evicted some of the year round riff raff. The pool is ready to go and we can't wait to start our camping season. Feather River is easily the best value, most natural looking park in the area. I highly recommend this park for both weekend and seasonal campers. Stop by site #25 when you're there. - Dave and Cindy
Jul 2019 - $45.00
This park is under new ownership and is going through a lot of renovations. The new owners are a young couple and are working very hard to upgrade everything. The owners father also is involved and is a good fixit man. When the water spigot and my hose wouldn't connect correctly he came right away and tried to make it work. Unfortunately he messed up my hose in the process but he found a work around and then replaced my hose with a brand new one. - boss49
Sep 2017 - $45.00
We chose this park due to the "9" ratings. After we arrived, I noted that the ratings are 5 years old. I will give the pros and cons here. PLEASE NOTE: the park has just been sold and the new owners have many plans to upgrade this park. New owner gentleman was so super helpful and friendly, a can do guy. They are going to add more sites, remodel the laundry room, partition off the full time area, add bocce ball and other rec opportunities. Also, they will build some cabins, which will be a wonderful addition.
PROS: The setting is gorgeous. We camped under the pines with 30 amp hook up, water and sewer. You could be fooled into thinking you are in a national park. You are surrounded by the forest. There is a nice walk through the forest behind the camp. It was quiet, set up off the main highway. Fire pits and picnic tables. We used site 26 which was very spacious with lots of privacy. The owner guided us to our site and helped us settle in.
You are so close to the Lakes Basin, where we did some great hiking. Also good food in Graeagle and Blairsden. The wi fi worked mostly well and there was a good cable channel lineup which also worked well.
CONS: The laundry room was filthy and only one washer worked, no dryers worked. We used a clothesline at our campsite to dry clothes. The rec room was locked so we did not see what was in there. The full timers: excuse me for saying this, but the area looks trashy. Someone living in a school bus there, for example. The new owners plan to section off this area with a fence and give them their own access road. We will check this park out again in a year or so. I do believe that the new ownership is earnest in their intent to fix it up and make it a lovely stay. So, check it out!
By the way, there is a lovely dry camping campground here as well. - Barbara Lee Tondro
Jul 2012 - $30.00
Our site was nice, level gravel. Water pressure good, electrical voltage good and steady. Sewer hookup is located well for gravitational flow but you will need a hose that is longer than 10 feet. Owners were friendly and very proud of the cable and satellite TV hook ups but we could not get ours to work. We watched CBS and ABC from our bat wing antenna. Verizon cell and Wi-Fi signal (3G only) was good. A nice, quiet location in tall pines with plenty of shade. Not a destination resort, but a nice clean, well-run spot to park and venture out in the area to see the sights. We will definitely stay here again. - Nevadatripin
Sep 2019 - $45.00
Showers are cleanest and nicest I’ve see ! Excellent location for exploring beautiful lakes basin area - Ruthi Solari
Jul 2019 - $55.00
Helpful and friendly staff. They will assist you in locating your site and parking your Rig. We enjoyed the beauty of the area and appreciated the cleanliness of the Park. The Park was shaded by the impressive Ponderosa pine trees. Since it was fire season, be could not build an open fire, but was allowed charcoal or propane cooking. The WIFI signal was strong and cable had a good variety of channels. We will stay again. - NVfaiella
May 2018 - $45.00
We enjoyed our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The site was quiet and away from the road. We would surely return. - matt666
