We spent four nights at Saddle Mountain and really enjoyed it. This is a small park and sites are close together but the views are beautiful. It is up on a hillside looking out over the Carmel Valley. We enjoyed sitting out by their sparkling pool. There is a playground, comfortable fire area and badminton. This park is not for the very large rigs but if you are in the area, we highly recommend it. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 2 nights, it was a very beautiful location, clean and well maintained; they assigned us a spot and we asked for a different one and they were very accommodating in allowing us the change. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back again. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This RV park is a hidden gem in the foothills above Carmel. It's a 5 minute drive up the gentle hill from Hwy 101. The park has a "communal" feel with multiple gazebos with gas fire pits and comfortable seating. They have a huge swimming pool which I am sure is enjoyed in the summer. There is no wood burning at the camp sites, but I really enjoyed meeting other campers by the fire pit. The staff is amazing. Great people that make sure your stay is comfortable. The sites are good size and the roads in and out are good. When you are driving up the gentle mountain it is "one way" so you don't run into other trailers coming down. When you are driving into the campground, you will be in a rural area of horse farms. Gorgeous views of the mountains and stars so bright at night it was crazy. This campground is exceptionally "quiet" at night and very peaceful. It was full when we were there and there were kids and dogs. But at about 9:00 pm you would never know there was anyone there but you. The park is really clean and has lot's of trails to hike. It is located less than 5 minutes from grocery stores, Starbucks, etc. I would highly recommend this RV park and look forward to going back. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is an older campground on the side of a hill overlooking the Carmel Valley. The staff are great, very helpful. It is an easy drive into Carmel-By-The-Sea and to Carmel River State Beach which is dog on a leash friendly, chiefly used by the locals. The website says 28' RVs, but when we called, we were told they can handle at least 30', but that we needed to be confident with our maneuvering of the trailer to get around a tree at the top of the loop where RVs may go. We are newbies to the RV world, but I have done a fair amount of backing of trailers, so we went for it. We managed, but exited via the road in because of the way I was pointing once I got the trailer positioned. The takeaway here is go for it. Call and talk to them if you are unsure. They are very nice and helpful. When you are heading in on Schulte road, the road will get narrower and narrower, but you will get there. Wifi signal was good, but internet did get bogged down in the evening. Using my phone as a hotspot filled in just fine. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very unique campground up a windy hill surrounded by a forest of trees. We pulled a 28 Ft travel trailer with an F250 and I wouldn't want to be up here with anything much longer because of roads and sites. Very quiet and peaceful surroundings. Verizon 3G working well. Couldn't connect satellite because of trees. Full hookups. Nice office personnel. Would definitely return. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful mountain views. Closest RV/Camping/Cabin stay to Carmel and Monterey and all the attractions they hold. Clean, lots of trees and flowering plants. Communal firepit in gazebo, large pool, very nice playground, hiking trails. Friendly staff. Very quiet. Clean and nice bathrooms/showers. No rigs over 35 feet. One mile off Carmel Valley Road. The entrance narrows and is steep for the last 100 feet but you won't have a problem.

No wood burning fires, but charcoal and Duraflame logs are permitted.

You can rent a portable fire pit if you forgot yours, or if your site does not automatically come with one.

Great place for families....

LOVE the beautiful cabins. Will return to stay in those at another time. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice campground in the middle of trees and above Carmel. Has swimming pool, rest areas, badminton, bbq at each site. Looks nice! Showers are restroom are limited (one of each) and quite dirty and old. Costs quite much. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice small campground close to Carmel and Monterey with full hook-ups. To address some of the other reviews issues: The campground is tight and steep to access and stay in, but this should not be a surprise if you have researched Saddle Mountain prior to your arrival. We camped in a 30ft TT and had to move our tow vehicle to parking after we were in (not a major issue since parking was only 50ft away). The management did move campers around when they could not fit in a site. The bridge has been rebuilt to two lanes and is no longer an issue (the road is still tight as you get close to the campground). The management has also changed in the last few years and comments from 2010 or older are not relevant. The campground was very clean and the gardener / handyman kept a very neat and clean campground. The sites are very close, but everyone seemed to respect other campers and kept the noise to a minimum. The pool area was clean and provided excellent views. The bathrooms are small and you may need to adjust your schedule to use the facilities. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed this campground after reading some of the reviews (we generally dry camp and Nation and State parks). If your unit can fit and you don't mind taking your time and getting into a small spot, this may be a good location for you. It provided a great camping spot close to Big Sur, Carmel, and Monterey. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We got in on a Friday evening after dark. The road in is narrow and is just above the Carmel River RV park. If you have a large rig and are towing this could be a tight squeeze. We got to our site and found out we had to go nose in. Sites vary from spot to spot. Some you can back in others you can't. Also, hookups are at the end of the site so will need to think about longer water and sewer connections. The area isn't very big and sites generally will involve some maneuvering to get into. They also have tent sites. Probably not a big rig site; we are 30' and seemed to fit fine. Also some sites have more room than others. Ours was tight and no room for our awning. That said, it is a beautiful location. We did a 4 mile hike up the mountain and enjoyed the views. If you go I would be very specific when reserving your spot on what you want. We will go back now that we have seen the layout and know where we would like to stay. Very quiet campground; almost zero road noise during the day and at night also very peaceful. Nice place just recommend being specific and ask for what you want. Pool was cold and only being maintained at this time of the year. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Has good pool. WIFI--might not get it at your site. Different prices for different spaces. Very narrow road in. Dry sort of Western theme. Good base for Carmel and Monterey exploration. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This park is uphill on a steep, winding road from the Carmel By The River RV park, where we also stayed. We arrived late and struggled to get into a small space with a vehicle parked right across from our space on the side of the narrow, steep driveway. There were numerous kids running around in the driveway on the way in, which was unnerving in the semi darkness. There was only one toilet and 2 shower stalls in the main bathhouse. There is a second restroom up the hill which evidently had 2 toilets, though I did not use it. There is a large tent area and the sparse restroom and shower facilities were in constant use, so I never tried to get into the shower. On the positive side, the manager was quite pleasant and helpful when we met her the next day. The setting was pretty, though extremely crowded with a very confusing layout. It was very pricey at $75, like all the area parks seem to be, and I would not want to try to negotiate the drive up the mountain, parking, and set up in a larger rig. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

The road to this park is off the main road by over a mile on a winding, narrow, and bumpy road. The entrance is tight and very hard to maneuver any unit around. We nearly hit a low limb as well as a wall at the main entrance. The sites themselves are very narrow and don't accommodate slides on both sides. I would definitely not advise a 5th wheel or big rig up here!! We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Friendly, great staff. Not much room for the kids to roam except at the pool and in the playground. Pool was nice with beautiful views, but cold! Playground area was also nice. WiFi worked great. Our space was tight - once our 32' RV was parked there was no room for the picnic table and not much to park our car. One word of caution when I read the other reviews about the bridge and narrow road I thought no big deal. The bridge is currently under construction and there is a temporary bridge. It is very narrow and hard to approach squarely. I blew out a tire when I hit the curb. My bad as many here warned me, but maybe you can learn from my mistake. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

A few people have written about the road being bad to get into this park. That's really not the case. It's a one way road at places and the driveway into the park is a bit steep, but there's plenty of room to get a rig up to 40' up there. And the drive is WAY worth it! The scenery, peace and quiet, and nature is fantastic and the management and residents are really friendly. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.

Access to this park is a nightmare, at least in a larger rig. I did not expect the extremely narrow bridge nor the extremely steep incline to reach this park. I scraped my tires going across the bridge and was very nervous considering I had a brand new motorhome. Once you get across the bridge, the road to two RV parks and many homes is basically one lane. No way to turn around if you change your mind. My 32' rig fit into the spot, but with some help parking. One positive was that kids enjoyed the pool, but not worth it otherwise. I would not come here again, no matter how scenic it is supposed to be. We camped at Saddle Mountain Ranch Campground in a Motorhome.
