We stayed here one night on our way northward. None of the sites at this campground have sewer or cable/WiFi! Yet, they charge a hefty price. We would only stay here again if there was no other campground availability. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here at the Thousand Trails Russian River RV park north of Cloverdale California in June of 2019 while the husband was attending a Drone Conference for Public Safety agencies. The reason this park was selected was because we were looking for a cost effective location which would allow him to attend the conference put on by Enterprise UAS and would allow Pit bull type breeds of dogs. Though these two important criteria were met, we neglected to determine if the location had 50 amp service for the RVs. Additionally, this RV park does not have sewer hookups at the RV locations either. The roads in the park are fairly well navigable for 40 foot RVs and the sites are also fairly well maintained. The bathroom, shower and laundry facilities are fairly well maintained as well. The water in the showers is hot, though the pressure can fluctuate at times. The camp store has some of the simple amenities that one might need such as soda and marshmallows. You will find however that the city of Cloverdale which is about 10 minutes south of the RV park has all of retail supplies you would probably need. There are a lot of activities for the kids here at this park to enjoy. There is water rafting, a kids play area with an up to date slide and climbing wall. There is also a tether ball for those who are so inclined. The power and water at the sites is generally stable, though the local utility company that covers most of the San Francisco region (PG&E) had an equipment failure in the area one day that we were here which caused us to be without power for about 6 hours. All in all, this is a fairly comfortable place to stay. Due to the lack of 50 amps and no sewer hookups, we would not consider this a 'Resort', but for those that are looking for a camp ground a little on the rustic side, this location will definitely work. We took the trek out to the Cloverdale KOA and getting to that location is much more of a challenge for large 40 foot motorhomes such as ours. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Seems a fairly typical Thousand Trails campground. It's rustic and the turns and layout are tight. I happened upon a nice pull through which had a very private yard. Poison Oak is everywhere! Had good AT&T and Verizon cell service and didn't use the internet at the lodge. The lodge is near the entrance and would be a bit of a walk depending on which section you stay. I think updated sewer and electric would make this place fantastic. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

The sites are narrow and very hilly. The bathroom was old, cold and smelled bad. Lot spacing was very close. Site surface was asphalt and featured a picnic table. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for 10 day to visit family. Most site are used by live ins. Laundry not acceptabe. Was told to go into town. Used the pump man as no sites have sewer. $25, easier than moving to the dump. Over all this is a typical thousand trails park. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

I read the evaluation of other campers and was hesitant to camp at the Thousand Trails....however, they were way off base. Some sites are very cramped, but if you are a Thousand Trails member, there is a section with excellent sites. There are many sites to choose from. Come on Thursday or Sunday late for best selections. Power was 30 amps with no issues. Staff was very friendly and there were several activities for kids and adults (limited mostly to weekend). River was wonderful. I will definitely be returning. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a membership campground and all sites are first come first serve. Although you can book a site to accommodate the size of rig you have, there are no guarantees on check-in. Power is 30A, No sewer hook-ups, the campground is on a hillside in the trees. Roads are narrow and in disrepair. Some sites have no usable space around them. If you just need a place to park it is ok but if you are looking for a place to enjoy your space I would not recommend it. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Park is old & rough. Roads in disrepair and pot holed, with tight turns for bigger rigs. No sewer and requires restroom use, to avoid overfilling tanks. Restrooms are horrible. Dirty, old, scary 30 amp electric and doesn't work very well. Blows breakers and staff don't care. No pool, lodge or hot tub. No stores close and freeway noise. In Sonoma Wine country is ONLY nice thing to say about here. I would only stop here for overnight, short stay. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

This park needs updates, sites are 30 amp and water, many sites blocked off for electrical problems. It is an older park, most sites are very short and all are too narrow. While they are paved they are on a slope and have no place to sit outside. The park is about 3 miles out of town; a good place for an overnight stay, but not a destination. We planned to stay here for a weekend and ended up leaving Saturday afternoon. The grass/weeds were over grown and every site we tried was over ran with ants. We set our pups kennel on the ground while I set up our tent and it was covered in ants. Moved to another site and same thing. We were also warned that the site was heavy in deer ticks. The river access was horrible and really no where to setup chairs or anything for laying out. Basket ball hoop looked like something out of the movies in a run down area. My popup was bigger then the slab for shooting. No pool or playground at this site. Very disappointing since all the other Thousand Trails are so much better. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Tent Trailer.

We were here in the "Off" and "Rainy" season. Many seasonal run-down units on sites. No 50 amp sites available. No sewer available. Water pressure only 30 PSI so not more than a trickle. This park is in need of some serious work. The people were extremely nice but Thousand Trails needs to get moving on this one. Verizon cell and Internet worked. Campground WiFi was useless. Satellite easy to hook up. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Cloverdale is nearby and has an interesting coffee shop and micro-brewery. Wife went to a beauty shop here and was pleased with services. THe area is remote and pretty quiet. Grocery, fuel and supplies all in Cloverdale.

Wow, not 1000 Trails signature campground. Very aged, horrible roads, sites are uneven. Swarms of bees and the river is a trickle. No pool or any activities for the kids.

No sewer connections at the site, one dump station. Many of the utility boxes broken.

We left early. I would skip until they can put some money into this one. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Roads are narrow, no pool, kids could not swim in beach, sites were close together, and the washer was broken. Cameras at the entrance of the bathroom positioned so that they could see the reflections from the mirrors. Will not be returning to this site, checked out early. As with many Thousand Trails Campgrounds over the past few years the facilities have declined sharply. There is little restroom clean-up now and the sites that are available are difficult to get into. More and more rental cabins or long-time campers have taken over the sites. It is tricky to find a site if your rig is over 30 feet and in some cases you must back down one-way roads. We camped at Russian River RV Campground in a Motorhome.
