Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second summer spending a month here. The $32 rate reflects $1,000 including utilities. We like it here. Very friendly management and staff make you feel welcome. Sites have ample room between them, though not private, and some are a little tricky to get into for big rigs. The sites toward the back are quieter but have no view except into the forest, while the sites near the road are noisier but have more of a view across the valley, which is nice for watching the summer monsoon storms, so those are fine if you are an early riser anyway and don't care about road noise waking you up. Some sites are treed, while others are open, with a paved pad, mostly level, surrounded by dirt with sparse vegetation. Each has a picnic table and most have fire rings. The loop road was repaved in 2018. We don't use camp facilities but restrooms seemed very clean, as did the laundry room (2 washers 1.25, 2 dryers 0.35). The 50 amp utilities and camp wifi worked well; our T-Mobile and Dish came in great (some may have issues in treed sites). It's about 1/4 mile from the lake, which is probably why it fills up after the lakefront facilities. As a cyclist that's not a major issue since I can get to the fabulous 3-mile Alpine Pedal Path along the lake in just a few minutes, cutting through the elementary school across the street. It is so pretty I ride it at least once a day, and can also easily access the bike routes through the rest of town. This is ride BB1 (and BB3) in enCYCLEpedia Southern California. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The map for the bike routes connecting the Big Bear Lake campgrounds is available on line for enCYCLEpedia book owners... Bring your CRV cans and plastic bottles to the bins at the Elementary School across the street for their fund raiser; it's a shortcut to the lake as well for peds/bikes.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice, if rather small, RV park. The site we had was a good size overall, with a somewhat narrow - but very level - asphalt vehicle pad. With no bushes or anything right next to the pad , there was effectively unlimited space for our slide-outs. As shown in the park's web site photos, there isn't much in the way of privacy between spaces. But that also lends a fairly open feeling to an otherwise small property. Except for the pads themselves, the sites are mostly dirt with gorgeous mature pines scattered throughout the park. We were near a WiFi repeater that provided enough signal and bandwidth to stream 1080p movies. The bathrooms & showers here are pretty much the cleanest ones I've ever seen at an RV park. The park is just a couple minutes' drive to Big Bear City, the Discovery Center, hiking, skiing, off-roading, etc., so there's plenty to do nearby while visiting. Park utilities were all good, though a bit more water pressure would have been nice. Overall, I think this is a great little campground to stay at while exploring Big Bear. I look forward to staying here again! We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pine Tree is clean and fairly quiet despite being close to the road. Small park - only about 20 sites. Wifi is spotty and there are no other amenities other than the very clean bathrooms. Tight for for big rigs. A bit pricey, but we would use it again. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Pine Tree Park, owner at Pine Tree RV Park responded to this review

Thanks for taking the time to review Pine Tree, Suzanna. We're not sure if you visited our laundry facilities with coin washers and dryers, table and chairs, maps of the area for hiking and biking, and books, magazines, and area information for our guests. While the site you stayed in, #6, would not be optimal for big rigs, we have others, such as 5, 9, B, and C that can accommodate rigs up to 45 feet with 50 amp. Our website, www.pinetreervpark.com, describes each site. We look forward to your return visit.

We needed a spot for 4 nights and everything else was full up. The price was good for what we got but this is a small park with limited open spaces and most are take with summer full timers. Most of the spots are in the sun. We lucked out and got the only fully shaded spot (site 5). Only bad thing about this site is because of the trees there is no fire ring but they will allow the propane fire rings. Fire rings are in all other sites. They allow dogs and just ask that you keep them close and on leash but are not anal about it. Friendly staff but was told business is selling so don't know what the future holds. Although they are on Fawnskin side of lake they are close to main town but away from the crowds. Not a lot of walking area unless you cross the highway to lake then there are lots of trails. I would consider staying here again if no changes in management and if I could get a shaded spot if it was warm again. I was told that they have the best WiFi in the mountain but we didn't try it. Slabs were paved and perfectly level side to side. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pine Tree Park, owner at Pine Tree RV Park responded to this review

Thank you for taking the time to review Pine Tree RV Park. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. As new owners, we want to assure you that we are not changing our management - they are one of the reasons our park is so nice. We are improving the park with new paint and bathrooms that are available 24 hours with a new coded lock system. Hope you come back another time soon to enjoy the upgrades.

Quiet! Mostly long-termers and full-timers. Best park in Big Bear area for the money. Seven rating for narrow sites and no amenities. Great internet; best ever in an RV park. Lots of cable TV channels. Good dog walking nearby; a block from the lake. Utilities worked. A little tight backing in for 30'+ rigs. Restrooms and showers showed deferred cleaning. Easy drive up from Hwy 10 through Yucca Valley. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Plus: Location is in a quiet neighborhood fairly close to the greater Big Bear community. Asphalt interior roads and parking pads. Mature pine trees scattered throughout. Picnic tables and fire rings. The few permanents appear clean and respectful. Large level sites - many are deep enough to accommodate the longest rigs and all are wide enough for slide outs. Extra space between sites (50 feet or so) adds a feeling of privacy. All hookups are easily accessed. Cable and Wi-Fi have good reception. Bathrooms are clean and relatively modern. No charge for using the shower. (Didn't see the laundry room if they have one) Minus: Older very plain RV park having no frills and no pull through sites. No grass or any attempts at landscaping. No office. The manager works out of her RV. Nothing of interest within walking distance. When asked, the manager had no maps of the area. The owner told me Hwy 18 up from Lucerne Valley had lots of switch backs but failed to tell me how Very Steep it is - up to 16% according to the California State Hwy sign. That is a factor that would prevent me from pulling my RV via that route again. Final analysis: Pine Tree RV Park is okay but if returning to the area I would check around to see what the competition had to offer. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Amazing little park with only 20 sites but it is close to town with nice cable and as decent a Wi-Fi as you can get at an RV park. Paved sites but not perfectly level. Sites have nice new benches and free fire pits at the site. Easy walk to the lake. Quite a hidden gem. We camped at Pine Tree RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
