Great park near the Redwood trees. Has a swimming pool and a kids run through sprinkler play area. Nice laundry area.
Weekly has a bingo game with some fun prizes. No problem getting DirecTV reception. Verizon cell service was ok. We

We fit here in a 40' motor home, but in a 45' one should use only the end sites. Too hard to navigate the interior streets. Truly. Great park. Nice folks.
Just built for older motorhomes that are shorter. If you are smaller you'll love it.
Lots are very close, and offer some shade. Site surface is asphalt and features a picnic table.
We love this place and have been coming here since 1979. Don't miss it. We

When I first pulled in and saw the grounds I was quite pleased. Lots of trees, grass, very tidy. I have to say though, $60 per night is a bit steep. As I was trying to find my space, I became increasingly aware that the park was built quite awhile ago and not designed for today's larger rigs. Access was fairly tight in a lot of areas. When I finally got situated I found all the utilities were at the far rear of the space, which is fine for electric, but not so good for water, and especially sewer. The worst thing was the sewer. Just an iron pipe with a piece of 4" rubber hose on it and a ring clamp. Plus it was uphill from the trailer. I've never seen this in a GS park! We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean and well-run KOA from the 70's. concrete pads, strip with trees and grass between sites, full hookups. Because of it's age turns may be a little tight for big rigs, our 34-foot Class A towing had no trouble getting into an end site but could be problematic if the park had been full and/or with any larger length.
Very helpful and friendly staff at check-in and for delivering firewood. The pool wasn't open yet (mid-March) but looked nice.
We had a "premium" end site with a larger patio, plus they quickly delivered a portable fire pit for us - they only permit pits with a mesh cover which they can provide for free. Right by the 101 so road noise all night; also right by the stream which was high when we were there so pretty scenery.
You can walk on a landscaped path under the highway to the Benbow Inn; highly recommend a meal there to enjoy the history and the good service.
Overall a good spot to explore the redwoods nearby yet return to full hookups and amenities. We

I have not had good experiences with KOA. They are mediocre parks, in my experience, with incredibly high prices and unsympathetic staff. Today, we are on our way home to Oregon from San Diego and needed a park. This was about the only place in this area with cable TV. So, we are camped at Benbow KOA in Garberville, CA. The park is old and in need of upgrading, which appears to be under way.
So, we have been pleasantly surprised by the friendly, helpful staff, and the fact that, instead of charging us the advertised $57 a night, we were charged $35 minus a 10% discount because I am a veteran! :) Not only that, but the cable service is good, and I can watch my Oregon Ducks as they lead the TCU Horned Frogs 31-0 at halftime in the Alamo Bowl. Way to go KOA. We will stay here again.
BTW, the park has a little golf course and a pool, for those of you who like that sort of thing. The setting is beautiful, in the California coastal mountains. So, I am warming to KOA...at least to this one. Thanks Benbow KOA. We

Benbow has changed to a KOA campground, but little has changed. There are many permanent trailers, that look run down. Yes, there is a good golf and a new kids play ground. The Internet is not useable; INTERNET IS IMPORTANT and they just don't get it. Our site was next to a perm trailer and was not well kept. Not worth the price but park full so guess price not a problem and not much competition. Park now KOA. Park very tight. Sprinklers not adjusted so water ALL over vehicles. Others complained about this also. First impression into park very nice.
Office help nice but know nothing about history of golf course which we understand is of interest to golfers

Had an asphalt, pull through site. Needed 1/2 inch board to level side to side. For $60 a night, pad should be level. Good trees for shade. Sewer hook up raised about 10 inches from ground level. Had to lift hose to drain. Saw numerous RVers putting way too much effort into dumping. Sites are short; 60 ft. max length. My rear slide out on drivers side caused me to move 10 feet past end of site to clear sewer vent pipe. This made truck impossible to park in site, without putting wheels on grass. Not a bad park. Needs major improvements to justify $60 a night. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This can easily be as destination campground. We stayed 3 nights, but certainly did not run out of things to do. Adjacent golf course for those who play. Excellent dinner at the lodge (5star), large pool, spa, playground. Lots of grass, gravel pads, good hookups, excellent cable, good WiFi. In the heart of the Redwoods, this makes a great basecamp for the area. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This campground is right off I-101 so be prepared for road noise all night. Check-in went smooth and park staff was friendly. The roads and campsites are paved; campsites also have a concrete patio with a picnic table, grass, trees, and cable TV. Wi-Fi worked really good. Restrooms and showers were very nice and clean. Laundry room has seven washers and dryers. This park has lots of amenities, plus a golf course. We only stayed overnight. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

As stated, this is now a KOA with all of the add on costs you find with KOA. We had 43' rig and towing. We fit but just barely. Had the tow on the lawn. Streets are very narrow and sites all have these 10' pipes at the right hand side as you try to swing onto the site. If you are not there to golf, at $63 it is a park to keep on trucking.
We said NO to the pet friendly question as they charge for each pet. We

Very well maintained grounds and facilities. Nice showers/bathrooms. Pull-throughs are tight and short. A park in this price range should be perfect. This one was not. Sewer connections are small. Standard fittings don't fit. The restaurant in the adjoining inn is quite pretty, but service was amateurish, and breakfasts were cold. Rate posted was approximate (I couldn't find the bill!). This park recently became a KOA. There is evidence that things are getting better, but there is still a a lot of work to be done. Sites are not level and the place needs to be repaved. Nice pool and water play area for kids. Probably won't stay here again. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We have driven by this park for years and decided to stay since it converted to a KOA. We stayed in a "premium" site on the end of a row closest to the Eel River with an enlarged green grass area and concrete patio. The staff was very friendly and courteous upon check-in. Recent upgrades and improvements are visible and more appear to be in the works. The new splash park (spray ground) for kids and a new playground are a nice addition. A new friendship hall was under construction during our stay. Several new cabins have been added. The cable TV service was clear and provided 68 channels. The park was about half full during our stay but generally quiet with no loud campers, radios or late night parties. The park was safe enough for our son to ride his bike around without much trouble. As others have noted, this older campground still needs physical infrastructure improvements. The interior roads need to be widened and sharp turns should be removed to make the park big rig friendly. The pull-thru campsites are narrow asphalt strips about 9' wide with no room to walk around on the pavement if you have slide-outs. All the sewer connections have 10' high vent pipes located within inches of the asphalt near the rear of each site which can pose a problem if you have a rear driver's side slide out. The sites are generally level but the asphalt is so old that some sites have visible valleys and high spots from the wear of rigs being parked on the pavement and displacing the asphalt over time. It would help if the owners widened the sites, straightened some of the sharp turns, and repaved everything. This place has great potential given the surrounding area, golf course, and nearby Benbow Inn. We will definitely stay again and hope they keep making improvements. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This is an older campground that has been recently converted to a KOA. While the campground is clean and cell service is good the web site is a bit of over the top on the looks of this campground. While this is a pet friendly park our doggy picked up a lot of small burrs in his feet when we walked him. They also advertise a pet bathing area, but the sink was really dirty and there was no warm water. On the morning we left, they must have watered the area and the both sides of the RV and car were wet. We camped at Benbow KOA (formerly Benbow RV Park) in a Motorhome.

You are right on the Redwood Highway and there are a lot of groves to wander around in along with trees to drive through, live in, and even a motorhome made from one. Benbow Hotel is right across the highway and has been restored and has a nice resturant .
