This is a very reasonable and clean park especially for this part of California. Provides for easy access to San Clemente, Laguna, and connected areas. The park staff was friendly and helpful. The sites were large and included power and water, no septic. We were in a 37 foot Class A with tow and tow dolly and had plenty of room, back in site. Over the air television is adequate but there is NO WIFI at all. Cellphone coverage was good 80 dBm or better, AT&T. We were visiting family so did not use many of the park's amenities but there is trails and sponsored activities available. This is a local county park so is frequented by locals for weekends. We were in Ortega Flats which is kind of close to the main road, Ortega highway. This road is pretty well used, especially by the local motorcyclist as it is very curvy and hilly and they love to race up and down the road. All in all would stay there again but there is one really big caution. This park is unusual as it has a pretty strict pet policy. The policy is NO PETS. Pretty unusual in my experience. They justify this by saying there is a danger of pets attracting cougars that are in the area. I guess I can understand this with dogs or animals that are allowed out of owners RV's but animals that are never allowed out it seems a bit restrictive. If you miss this in their information you could be sadly surprised. Since we had traveled all the way from Florida and prepaid we were given an exemption. We have camped all over the country including cougar country before. Never seen this strict of a rule before. - gargoyle

Be sure you're aware that no dogs are allowed here! Several campers were turned away at the gate. Only a small number of sites have electric, and that loop does not have restrooms, only a porta-potty. The restrooms are about 10-15 blocks away, in the larger, non-electric loop. Also a bit uncommon is that the electric sites do not have water hookups. Other than that, it was a pleasant park to spend a few days in. - Searching4America

My husband and I were going to stay here based on this site said "pets OK", but if you go to the website for the campground it specifically says "pets prohibited" except horses! So beware if you travel with a pet, so we could not stay here and never did. I have passed by here several times and it looks beautiful. - joycejack
Jun 2018 - $55.00
Sites are close together, I measured 25 ft., I had plenty of room front to back on hard packed dirt, but neat and clean. No phone service and wifi is OK but not for Viber. The biggest negative for me was crazy speed bump in a V that made the back of the motorhome do extreme contortions when the doolies hit them at almost no speed. - CGNRG
Sep 2015 - $32.00
Nicely maintained park. Note: there are only a handful of 50 amp sites. Roads are paved with sites being hard packed dirt. Some large trees throughout park but we were able to use our satellite dish. Our space was long enough to hold 40 foot trailer and truck easily. Decent spacing between sites. Our site did require some leveling. Quiet area yet you are close to Temecula and the wineries. There is no cell service at the park so they provide a free landline phone for you in the lounge. Great value and place to stay if you want to do some wine tasting or see Old Town Temecula. Wi-Fi is free but very slow. - mcharland
Mar 2015 - $20.00
Very remote park with trails and lots to do in the surrounding area. Did a long term stay and was very happy with the management and park hosts. Weekends can get crowded during peak times and wifi is poor due to it's location - lucky if you get cell service or text. Go there to relax and enjoy nature, site-see. - PixieStardust
Nov 2018 - $40.00
Excellent. Unfortunately they were removing some trees due to pine beetle infestation. . - Leisure Travelin Lockes

This was our first stay at this county park and we were not disappointed. Nicely kept facility with spacious sites and good hookups. Located east of the city of Yucaipa in an area of rolling hills, the views from within the park are very nice Only negative for us was that we were unable to get satellite reception for news and other programming due to the many trees that block satellite reception. There are a few open sites without trees where reception would be received but the park was full up when we were there for a two day family visit. We are not big TV people by any means but we do watch the morning and evening news when traveling so this was a negative for us. Spaces are asphalt as are the interior roads and the scenery is very nice all throughout the entire park. Family friendly and no doubt a great place of kids as there is fishing and hiking, etc. and other fun things for them to do. We would stay here again as this is the best bet in in the general area.................. - BankShot
Aug 2017 - $35.00
This is a county park, campground. There are separate areas for RV', tents, and day use. Very clean well maintained with lawns and many sites have shade This is an urban park but very quiet and does a great job of separating and blocking view of nearby housing while offering great views of wild lands and mountains Park staff are knowledgeable of their facility and friendly. The park is within a few blocks of all kind of businesses, stores and restaurants There is a senior discount during the week. - Old Detective
Nov 2018 - $25.00
Excellent value at the PA rate, which is only valid weekdays. The RV park is very nice and maintained well, with ample sites and a little grass at each site. No picnic table at site. Most of the resort amenities are over at the hotel, but there is a pool and spa at the RV park. Free shuttle to hotel and casino. Very good wifi, good Verizon, fair selection of cable channels. Great options for dining at the casino. Beautiful golf course, though pricey and crowded. However, RV park guests are entitled to use the golf practice facility, including a very large short game area, for free, which is a great bargain. - KAP99
Oct 2018 - $50.00
Very clean park with nice, level sites, grass pads on each side, lots of trees and hedges for privacy and great security visible in the park throughout the day and night. Off the road, so very quiet, with a beautiful pool, nice laundry facility and clubhouse. They also provide shuttles to the casino, firepits and gathering areas. One nice feature: they have fee-graded sites, depending on how many amenities you want on your site, up to and including a nice grill, gazebo and chairs, picnic table and a large grassy area. A very pleasant stay. - Tee Gysin
Oct 2018 - $56.00
Had a $20 discount from an earlier stay, so paid $36. Lovely park. Quiet, well-maintained. Wi Fi is weak. Otherwise a 10. - Doogiesmom
Jan 2016 - $25.00
Toilets and showers reserved for events. RV's are expected to use their own toilets and showers.
Entry road is dirt with lots of potholes but no problem if one goes slow.
As mentioned reservations must be made at least a week in advance and only online. This was not a problem for us. - itsmee222
Jul 2014 - $25.00
This was our worst camping experience in two years. Frankly, I am surprised that there are so many positive reviews. My wife and I found this campground to be very dismal. The RV parking on the upper level is dirty and has almost no aesthetic appeal. It's like a big dirt parking lot dug out of the side of the hill. There are no views to speak of, just a big wall of dirt out back and construction out front. The picnic tables for each site appear to have never been cleaned and are covered with stains and debris. There was no Wi-Fi or phone service in the RV area so you had to walk down the hill to the community center for any services of that sort and even there it was spotty. We were scheduled to stay one week but left after 3 nights - as soon as we could locate an alternative park. I certainly would not recommend this location to any RVers. It is a difficult drive in though a poorly maintained road and the park itself is dreary at best. - Sheridan

Now this is not your usual RV park. But by far the cheapest place offering full hookup sites in Orange County. A Christian event center runs this park which is located on their premise quite a bit outside of any town in the area. It is meant for longer stays, but travelers (and you don't need to be a religious person) are welcome. You have to go through the somewhat unusual reservation process though. Online only through their website and at least one week in advance. It took me a couple of follow up calls to confirm our reservation. Driving there you can use your GPS with the adress stated on the website. The last mile to the gate of the event center is a very bumpy country road. We wondered why the six speed bumps on the way were needed. The gate code was provided with the reservation confirmation. Checking in at the office was a bit different then with other parks. Little room to park the rig. Photo ID and insurance papers needed to be shown and photocopied. Once that was set and the credit card slided we could drive the last half mile up to the RV sites. Very bumpy indeed. Mostly gravel, some enormous potholes and a few low branches skirting the roof. You have to drive to the upper level of the park and I would recommend to take the left way when the road forks at the lower level. There are more sites on the lower level but these are not for public use. The sites are all back in and in #35 we had just about enough room to maneuver with our 34' RV (51' combined length). The sites with lower numbers provide more room and longer rigs would not have problems there. The sites are gravel, provide full hookups in OK shape, even cable. We needed no leveling equipment. The WiFi was OK, not the fastest, but good enough for emails and web browsing. Our Verizon worked on the lower level but not up on our site. Very friendly and considerate neighbors. The place is very safe and very quiet, especially at night. Be prepared for some christian events on and around the lower level from Friday night to Sunday afternoon including early morning music and singing, prayers and more music and singing throughout the day. No noise after 10 pm. Overall, this is an off the beaten path option to park your RV. I would not recommend going there if it is for less than at least three days. The reservation and check in hassle along with the long and bumpy drive in and out is not worth it if it is only for a night. We stayed for six nights, enjoying the remoteness, safety and quietness. We also enjoyed the low rate and did not mind the somewhat long drives to the L.A. and Orange County attractions. We will come back. - TheSchweitzers

If you enjoy residing in an RV Park that resembles Sanford and Son Junk Yard...Then Welcome Home! This Park is infested with flies, no cable/no wifi, overpriced and a waste of time! - Windman69
Jul 2017 - $45.00
To be honest, we were afraid of arriving after reading all the bad reviews. Which goes to show you....gated RV park AND the gates work. I asked the manager if he was are of all the bad reviews, and he said, yes, however, he has addressed many of the issues and will try to improve even more. The park was very clean when we stayed there - a week. Laundry, and bathroom facilities were very clean. Yes, the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy, but they were not getting into the park. Management and custodial personnel were very friendly and nice, and helpful. I'm not giving a 10 because of the surrounding neighborhood. However, we did feel safe inside the park. No WiFi, no cable tv. The only channel we could bring in with our antenna was PBS. :-(
For the price, I think WiFi and cable tv should be included. If you wanted WiFi, you had to go near the office. Our pickup barely fit on the lot...neighbors were awfully close - we could hear their conversations, as I'm sure they could hear ours. HOWEVER....we never had problems with any of the neighbors - they were all very nice and it seems like they look out for each other. - CampinAZFamily

Ghetto park. Drugs, thieves. They should close this park down. Has a bad reputation in the visitors center. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone. Owners don't care about the park just want money. REALLY!!! Can't keep managers long. Some are rude. Dirty park. Old trailers alot of strange people in and out at night and in the daytime. Need to close this PARK!!! - G Holloway

Not really a full review after only 24 hours here, in the winter, but the campground is quiet and looks clean and well-maintained and I'd definitely return.
There are some things I wanted to mention because I did not see them elsewhere:
(1) Verizon service is good throughout the whole park.
(2) This park is not really in Banning itself, but 12 miles up the winding mountain road toward Idyllwild. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is not slightly scary to get to.
(3) Dig out your jack pads before you come, because the sites are asphalt (wish I'd planned ahead!)
(4) The sites are laid out in an unusual pattern, with groups of both back-in and pull-thru sites in short "nodes", with lots of grassy spaces between nodes. It strikes me that this is one of the best arrangements I've ever seen for family groups with multiple RVs, or small groups traveling together.
(5) The sewer connections are exactly 3" in diameter and threaded on the outside. I had nothing - including my 4-in-1 slip adapter - which would fit these. I guess you need a rubber seal connector and that's the only thing that works? Just come prepared.
As with Thousand Trails parks, you pick your spot. But when I called the office to give them my site number, they refused to take it over the phone. She said I had to give them that information in person?!
I have no toad and it's a long walk back, so I guess they'll have to live without it. That's been my only negative experience here. - Karen On The Road
Aug 2015 - $40.00
Very clean park with over 800 camping spots, two pools one for children and one for adults, bar, resturant and snack bars at each pool. I dont recommend camping here in August due to the heat. We will be back. - snarlin
Jul 2014 - $10.00
This is a membership park. It's in a great location, a huge campground, plenty of area for walking, lots of trees and grass, plenty of birds if you like to put out feeders, nice sized spaces with good wifi (for a fee). One of our favorite spots when in California. It's steep and winding getting to and from the park, but worth the trouble to get there. - NoPlaceLikeRoam
Oct 2017 - $55.00
Typical KOA, long enough , level site so we didn't have to unhook the tow. Dog park was ok but we thought our smallest dog might be able to get under one gate. Everything worked. The trains were noisy but typical for RV parks next to train tracks or highways or between them. I would stay there again - Go often
Mar 2017 - $45.00
Stayed here 2 nights in March. Nice park , well kept , on the edge of town , but very convenient for food and shopping. Nice folks with a great staff. Excellent sites that will only get better as the shrubs mature between them. We will definitely stay here again ! - DalenDeb
Oct 2016 - $45.00
We've stayed here before. It is located adjacent to a high school, on Friday nights you may experience football games. But it was not objectionable. When I called for the reservation, I was given space 70. Upon arrival (after the office was closed) we were switched to site 73. Arrived at site 73 to find it previously assigned to another RV. To solve this issue, we pulled into the best suited open site for us. I'm sure we took someone's assigned site. This location was quiet and a very few children running around. Utilities were acceptable, didn't try the pool, cable or WiFi. Our site didn't have large trees but most sites do. The sites are packed gravel and somewhat level. The streets are asphalt. The grounds were neat and tidy. The are was windy but not that bad. Just windy to not extend awnings.
We did enjoy sitting out in the evening and watching the wonderful sunsets and sunrises.
For a pull thru, the site was just long enough for a 30' TT. Had to park sideways and barely made it.
Overall, it was quiet and will return again. - SD75mac
