People are parked beyond the lines all over this park. Spaces are 90 degrees to the road. These two factors make backing in (only option) a test for even skilled drivers. As a CDL driver, this is not a place I would pick again. Having to maneuver around a vehicle in the driveway and into a space made even smaller by a poorly placed power pole, was less than relaxing. The guy with his Jeep came out to offer to move after I was in the space.

The showers are dated and need a good cleaning, but otherwise nice. The shower heads are like gym shower heads with one powerful setting. We camped at Marin Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is our 2nd stay at Marin RV Park, and our impression is that the facility is well-managed, safe, fairly-priced for a Bay area RV park, and seems to attract an ever smaller number of over-nighters and a growing number of long-term residents. It's located a few miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge and a short walk from the Larkspur Ferry terminal - which has direct service to the San Francisco waterfront. The CGs PROs are singular - it has NO competition - if your goal is to secures a safe CG - with direct access by HWY #101 or ferry to SF and less than a 30 minute drive to Muir Woods and Point Reyes. The CGs CONs are 24/7 freeway noise and most sites are so narrow that deploying RV slides may be difficult and sitting outside is a NO GO! Park provided internet was adequate. Our site's cable TV connection did not function, but we were able to deploy our DISH satellite. Surprisingly, our Verizon cell service only had 2-bars. YES, despite the CONs we will return again when visiting the BAY area. We camped at Marin Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very expensive but convenient to ferry to go over to San Francisco (walking distance). Sites are very narrow and close together. Slide outs don't work well at all since sites are so small. The office staff was outstanding and very helpful. Internet worked well. We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here since 2005, usually several times a year. It's gotten more expensive each year. They say because they are so close and have ferry service to San Francisco just a few blocks away, they can charge the Europeans a lot of money. They also now have more long term people. Some of them we have seen and talked to for more than 10 years. It's clean and certainly central, but we will try another park not so close to the city in the future. We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

In spite of paying $85 per night (including ridiculous California taxes), we really liked this park. The office staff was so helpful in getting us orientated for our first exploration of Frisco. Our site was level, cable TV was good, and WI-FI was very good. Even though we had a narrow back-in site, they let us use the whole site next to us to park our towed---kind of like two sites for the price of one. One nice change was we didn't have to worry about damaging our coach from low electric voltage. We had a steady 122 volts during our entire stay. As with every California campground we have stayed in, finding grassy areas in which to walk dogs is a challenge. At the back of the park, there is some sort of bird sanctuary where dogs can be walked. Sadly, most people seem to feel that since this area is hidden by a fence, it's OK to just let your dog sit. This is nothing by laziness and a complete lack of consideration for others. Shame on all of you. Also, after walking your dogs, check them for burrs as they seem to pick up a lot of them in the ultra-dry grass. We would definitely come back here again, if only to enjoy that beautiful morning fog ! We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not drive into the city. Traffic is awful and the local drivers are rude and aggressive. Instead, walk the 0.7 of a mile to the Larkspur ferry. For $11.50 each a big, comfortable boat will take you to the city in 30 minutes.

I picked this park because it was close to the ferry into San Francisco. It is nice gravel parking lot. The people are friendly and helpful and keep the place very clean. The sites are small but the hook ups are easy. Lots of cable channels and the WiFi and Cell service is very good. I would stay here again if coming to San Francisco We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can walk to a Trader Joes and the ferry terminal. Less than 15 minutes to the ferry that takes you right into San Francisco. No driving or parking hassle.

Another plus is there a Vet clinic about 500 feet from the park where you can board your pet if you planning a long day in the city.

This park is just what we needed and nothing more. We needed a place to park the trailer while we went to see the sights. There are no fire rings, picnic tables, etc. The staff greeted us before we got out of the truck and directed us to the parking area. We then returned to finish checking in at our convenience. This prevents congestion at the entrance. I hope other parks catch on to this. The staff volunteered information I would not have thought to ask about. The ferry is close enough to walk to for most people and easy to drive to for others. Parking at the ferry is free on weekends and holidays and only $2 during the week. Ferry fee is $11 to SF and half price for 65 and older. We camped at Marin Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Probably closest RV "park" to San Francisco. North of Sausalito, about 10 miles north of Golden Gate Bridge. Urban gravel RV "park" - nothing park like about it, but sufficient. Next to US 101 and exit ramp, so continual loud traffic noise 24/7. No trees, no bushes, no grass - just gravel and asphalt. Urban air pollution. Narrow sites, gravel = not very level. BUT pool is OK, all the requirements are here - power is OK, water OK, dumps are at back of site but OK, room for larger units. Staff are very friendly and nice. Price median for high-demand California location. And location is pretty convenient to San Francisco. We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

This is the park to stay at if your goal is to go to San Francisco. Nothing fancy. No grass, all stone. We drive a 36 foot motorhome with 3 slides and tow a 4 door jeep and we fit. Normally need around 55 foot long, they say their sites are 50, but the way it's laid out, it worked no problem. No shade. Park road is wide and easy to get in and out of your site. Level. Electric, water were all good, no problems. Neighbors are a little close once you get in and open your slides. All that said, we would stay here again. We did not use the pool, not a super large pool, but looked clean and well taken care of. There are plenty of groceries, restaurants, etc. under 3 miles. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. The staff, all of them, were very nice and extremely helpful. We were totally lost, from the east coast and our first trip here. They provided all kinds of information. This is not the kind of park we would go to, to sit around and enjoy "the views", but again if you're going to San Francisco, best shot! We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.

Larkspur Ferry - an easy 15 minute walk. Cost $11 each way, $5.50 for seniors. The ferry ride is about 30-45 minutes. Compare to traffic and parking fees, that ranged from $35 a day and up! Busses cars run up and down the water front, for seniors$1.00 per ride. Walking on the waterfront is flat. Many locals going to a baseball game, they also use the ferry. You hear a lot about "The Wharf", yes that was a good stop, but don't miss Pier 39! It has everything!

The perfect place to stay to take the ferry in to San Francisco. 0.6 mile walk from the campground to the ferry. The ferry is then 30-50 minutes (depending on ferry) to Port of San Francisco. Then get a muni pass to cable/trolley car all over town. The lady at the RV park front desk (from Kentucky) is one of the friendliest people ever. They are all very helpful about the "how to" aspect for tourists. The showers are OK. The pool is fine. Lots of different cultures and languages here. I love that for the kids. Each night in the pool there were from 2 to 4 different languages being spoken. Vibe was very friendly. Another reviewer said they dog area had fox tails (dog danger). So we didn't use the dog area behind. You can take them out front on the street though. A nice little wetland/walk area in back by dog area is worth an evening stroll. Also runners: go left out of RV park (away from bridge) and head to Tiburon. There is a perfect running path there (towards mall). There is a water fountain and lots of doggie bags along the way. I did a nice four mile (out 2 and back 2) that was quiet and dog friendly. Get reservations early if you can. We got super lucky and got them day of going into the weekend. Super risky but it worked out. We got the last spot for that weekend. A must stay for seeing San Fran. We spent three nights which was perfect for seeing San Fran. Good to note: it takes FOREVER to get anywhere there in your car so build in about triple the time it would take you in the Midwest. We camped at Marin Park in a Travel Trailer.

Location (close proximity to Larkspur Ferry and San Francisco), flat site, and better-than-average WiFi for a campground are the only positives for this RV park. On the negative side, it was pricey ($85) per night. Sites were tight/close together, all back-in. Showers and restrooms were moldy and filthy, plus you have to walk down a narrow, poorly lit tunnel to get to them and then the step up to the facilities is a huge step up, bigger than the biggest Motorhome step. More than half the sites were occupied by locals with multiple cars who blocked your ability to park your tow without sticking out in the street. Laundry locked at 8pm. Stayed only because of location. We camped at Marin Park in a Motorhome.
