We went in under no reservation system and was very happy with site 71 for our 28 foot trailer and truck. (Total is 52 feet) Park has since changed to reservations accepted. Dry camping. No cell service with Verizon. The bigger sites mostly on main road in campground that had a lot of traffic. Beautiful rock formations all around. Great hike to Barker Damn. Closest town about 12 Miles. Try and bring in all you need. Area is definitely something that shouldn't be missed. - smitty12

Indian Cove is reservations only and you must reserve 48 hrs in advance so we went to Jumbo Rocks on the advice of the rangers at the Oasis Visitor Center. Beautiful spot! As we were driving in, some people recommended site 26 which had a long parking area. Both 25 and 26 were good as you don't share parking with other campers. The picnic table and fire ring were a bit further away in site 26 but we didn't mind. Keep in mind this CG is at 4400 ft elevation so it might be a bit colder. Also kind of windy but great sunset and sunrise views. There are no hookups and no water here; plan accordingly. Generators can only be used from 7-9 am, noon-2 pm and 5-7 pm but we hardly heard any. - MSSW

Fee envelope dropped into box, ie: no service, have exact change. Sites are too small for anything more than 25 feet even with "large site" list provided by NPS staff at visitor centre. Avoid camping down wind of pit toilets. Toilets ran out of TP. Close to many trails and viewing sites. - Sasquatchewan

We reserved our site online. It was difficult getting the trailer in due to the angle of the road to the spacious site. After that feat was accomplished we enjoyed our stay there. I would definitely come back to camp here but choose a site that works better for our trailer. The location can't be beat. Loved the break from the heat being in the mountains. - arteacher

We were only able to be here one night while traversing the country from Orlando to LA. Very pretty place to be. We intend to come back for a week. The town of Idyllwild is just outside the park and looks like great place to check out. It took us an hour to get up the mountain and an hour to get down. Fairly steep with a winding road. The road provides turn outs every couple of miles so you can allow the faster vehicles, not towing a trailer, to pass. - Pietrzyk

Awesome park. Walk to downtown Idyllwild. Stayed in Sp-26, now a full-HU site w/sewer. The other electric sites are being upgraded and most are now 30amp. Lots of shade and growth, well spaced, semi-private. Very pleased, will stay here again !! - Nevada Nick

This was an adventure! It was difficult to navigate the road up the mountain to get into with a 28'. I would definitely suggest daytime driving. The problem is the whizzers around the curve. We drove through Idyllwild on the way back and this was a lot easier to maneuver. The park itself is a challenge to find easy spots to get into, but it was worth the challenge. It is an interesting park being tucked up in the mountains and the trip to Idyllwild is definitely a must. The people are so friendly and dog friendly shops. We did lose the top of our fridge vent so be remember where you go go into you must come back out of. No internet except for the laundry areas. Take plenty of quarters. - ralinda

I was one night at this park. It happened to be fogged in so I did walk the area, I could only see about 200 feet.
My site was nice, and spacious in the woods. I was next to a long term renter.
This entire park is nestled in the woods, among trees and boulders. Driving through here in a big RV or with a big trailer is not for the faint of heart. My 24 foot van was no problem.
The road in is a pretty steep hill.
The Rangers that checked me in were very friendly and offered plenty of good advice about navigating the many roads in the park. - StormRunner

Nice wooded park. We were up top near the pool in a nice 50 amp site. Park was fairly empty because it was starting to get cooler. Many things to do in the area and casino's aren't too far away. We enjoyed our week long stay. - acampingfan
