Strictly an overnight layover right off I-5 about 10 miles south of Harris Ranch. The campground is populated by a couple dozen permanents, who keep their area relatively clean, although there were lots of barking dogs kept in outside corrals. The sites are dirt/gravel and are ridiculously close together, neighbors FHU literally 3 feet from our front steps. Wouldn't be horrible as the transient side of the park was half full, but instead of placing people in every other, they cram every new arrival in adjacent sites. We stayed 2 nights so saw this phenomenon repeat. Pretty aggravating with sewer hose in front yard and no place to sit out due to neighbors with empty sites visible all around. There is a pool and dog run. WiFi exists but too slow to use. Bathhouse was clean and close. - Todd Hancock

Just needed a place to stay- Paso Robles is crazy $$$. Adds a hour to our run to Morro Bay tomorrow, but well worth it. Simple, night stay...good power & clean bathrooms. For one night it worked well for us. - Tredguy

Stayed here to visit family members. The park is convenient if you have family members that live on base. Very hot in the summertime so be prepared since no shade is available at the campground (back of camper will face west so add some reflective sunshades to windows in camper). Nice level pads to park camper. The wifi worked great. There is a cable tv box, but we were notified that Directv is not longer available. A few over the air channels worked. - Gtown

Really nice base and campground. No trees at campsites but a decent amount of space between sites. The rec center has a lot to offer: movies, video games, swimming pool, tours. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again if in the area. - Colorado Trio

We stay here quite often since our kids are living on base. It is not much more than a paved parking lot, but if you have a dog or dogs, it is great. There is a huge dog park right next to the FamCamp and our dog loves it there. The camp is within walking distance to the base movie theater and bowling center. There is also a nice brew pub within walking distance. - KathyK

The Taachi Casino is an out-of-the way casino in central CA. You can park in their lot for no charge. It is well lit and patrolled by jitney cart security. They seem to welcome RVers. The only problem is that it is located in the middle of farmlands and there is nothing to do but gamble. We only stayed one night. The buffet was re-opened Mother's Day 2012 after total remodeling. They must have brought in a new chef because the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the custom-made pasta dishes. My wife, who is a food snob, thought the buffet was more than acceptable. I, on the other hand, can eat anything and I loved it. - olygene

The huge parking lots had plenty of room for RVs with excellent lighting. Casino was nice, staff was wonderful with shuttle to and from the casino. No charge for 3 night's stay. But, the buffet in the casino was absolutely the worst we have ever encountered in any restaurant. Not only did the food look terribly, but it tasted worse. We understand why they had us pay first. We would stay in the RV lot again but don't eat the food! - Beas1979

Dirt lot behind lodge. Hookups are adequate but several large rigs at the same time will make close quarters. Some small trees narrow the sites. Town is close by. The large bright glow to the northeast is a solar steam plant providing steam to the many oil wells nearby. It's well worth the 5 mile drive to see the set up. - Bucky Beaver
