Need to remember this is a county park so amenities are slim. Pretty much nothing to do in King City. Cork and Plough is about the only good sit down restaurant to eat at. Our stay was mid week in early spring. Most of the time there there was only a couple of other campers there. It is a good place to stop for the night or meet some friends for a day or two. At this time of the year you pay on the honer system. We had reservations but nobody checked on us the 3 days we were there. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

This is the kind of park we like. Well kept up. Very few other visitors. Quiet. Not just a parking lot. Space in and out of the park to walk the dog. I'm sure that being off season was a big factor, but that is partly why we travel in the off season. While this is not a destination for us, we will certainly stay at this park again when our travels bring us down 101. In fact, we will likely plan our stops to hit this park since it seems a lot better than the ones to the north and south. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The museums in the park are definitely worth an hour or two. You can't miss them, you pass them on your way to your site.

Beautiful grounds, lot's of trees, but, still many spots in the open for sat. Only twenty five spots for full hookup, and full on the weekend (we took the last one) but many more electrical hookup, and free dump for campers. Right off the freeway. Roads need work, but, keeps people from driving too fast. Even when it got a bit windy (trend in the area) the trees blocked the wind. A few museums around to look at in the park. Picnic table and bbq pedestal have seen better days. Best option in the area inmo. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice county park situated in the Salinas Valley. The sites are narrow, but shaded and the hook-ups are good but only 30 amp. Sat TV may be difficult as most of the FHU sites are shaded. The posted rate is a weekly rate and during the "off season" which is Oct 1 to May 1. The park is used by many groups but much of the time it is empty. Difficult to find a Ranger and you pay at the CG entrance via an envelope and Pipe deposit system. Nice Ag Museum on the property and lots of space for day users near the CG. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A county park with RV hookups. Great old mature trees offer shade on many but not all sites. Some paved, some grass sites. Barbecue grills at each site plus picnic table. Biggest negative is that sites are really close together, unfortunately. However, this park seems to not be full most of the time so you can probably spread out if it is not a busy weekend. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Ok for a stop over, but pricey for a county park. Sites are level asphalt but dirt in between makes it very messy. More like camping than RV park. Large trees make nice shade but make for bad satellite reception. No cable. Tight for big rigs, but doable. No Wi-Fi, but there is a booth for Ethernet cord. Water and power good. Not much in way of shopping in KC. Safeway and some mini marts. Salinas and Paso Robles are closest big towns. Relatively safe and quiet. Would only stop here again if a necessity. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The rate is Good Sam discount. We have stayed twice at this park. No reservations needed unless a fair is going on nearby. The restrooms were dirty in the PM from heavy use with Boy Scouts camping in the tent area. The showers are adequate, but not much more. The park itself was clean and very pleasant in the RV area. Our site was not quite level, but all the trees and shade made up for any other issues. Easy access from the 101, but no traffic noise. Both times we have stayed here, it has had many empty sites, even on a Saturday night. We like this park, especially because of the many tall trees at each site. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice Monterey County park and very convenient. It is very quiet, but with some visitation by the locals. There is some noise from the highway but not bad. There are some nice short biking/hiking trails. The utilities are solid. Our Verizon cell phone and data package worked well. It is a bit hard, but we found a site with satellite access. Many of the sites have trees and satellite would be difficult. We did not see a lot of official presence. We would definitely stay here again if passing through the area. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

+8 San Lorenzo is self-serve, but nice: asphalt pull through, $30 [and Visa is accepted]; level [front sloped slightly, but no need for leveling blocks], well treed; quiet. Walked the park and really enjoyed the antique farm and irrigation equipment displays, including a meal wagon, plus a caboose and an 1880 schoolhouse, with signs explaining it all. -2 The downside: The utilities are at the far back of the site, so the Jeep, in this pull through, extended slightly into the road. The other downside was the unceasing shotgun blasts that could be heard until maybe 7:30 pm and again starting at 7am. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

Rate shown Good Sam discount. Site was a paved pull-through. I drove towards the back of the pad to get level which stretched out my water and sewer lines. All utilities worked fine. No cable TV, but around 3 or 4 off the air channels. No Wi-Fi, but there is an internet shelter with some telephone line connections for dial up. The surrounding park has trails, farm and mining machinery exhibits, and a couple of museums. It was very quiet during our visit and we would definitely stay here again. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

For a County Park it is a very nice CG. Mostly pull through sites. No pool and no WiFi. Lots of old large trees for shade but can be a problem for roof satellites. A great collection of agricultural equipment. Near town and Hwy 101 but no noise. Definitely worth a stopover. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Fifth Wheel.

All of the utilities are towards the back of the site - again made for people with 5ers not motorhome. Also the map doesn't tell you that the outside ring sites that just water/electric are all grass. And once you get on the inside ring there is no way to get back to the outside ring without going out of the park. Payment is self-serve and they do give a senior and Good Sam discount. There are also several full hookup sites for those staying longer. Price is high for a county park, but this is California. Looked like a nice place for longer stays in the area. We would stay here again. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

I was impressed with this park. Nice, clean, quiet place to stop for a night. Spaces are roomy, level and mostly empty this time of year. Clean restrooms. Agricultural displays are worth a look. Rate is for E&W, FHU is $5 more. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

Not cheap ($38/camping +$2/dog) but this was a good place to set-up camp while driving from LA to SF. CG was pretty much deserted in February. Pretty plants on sites. Some of the tree branches might be low for a big rig: so watch while you park. Lots of level pull-through sites with full hook-ups. Utilities were good. Park has dirt walking trails. We did not have time to visit the museum but enjoyed seeing all of the old farm equipment on the roadside. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We spent three very quiet and pleasant nights at this park. Our site (25) was full hookup and in partial sunshine. Our roof top satellite dish worked fine which was good as there was no cable TV. This park is very dog friendly, except for the two dollars a day per dog extra charge. And the park is exceptionally clean. There were only a few other travelers staying there and we practically had the place to ourselves. There are old farm equipment on display and a nice small museum about early life in King City. We would stay here again. We camped at San Lorenzo Park in a Motorhome.
