Not really big rig friendly. Doable...but not easy. Inexperienced or timid rig operators need to be careful. Double check your understanding of the route in to this park. There are numerous opportunities to get your rig down some ridiculous rabbit holes masquerading as roads. Staff was quite friendly and accommodating. But the sites are cut for a time period 30+ years ago. Also only 30 amp sites. With the perpetually cool weather, a 50A big rig won’t need both AC units, so one can certainly survive on 30A. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The rating is based on the staff. They were excellent, accommodating, friendly, and just all around great. Many of the other campers mentioned it also at a feeding for St. Patrick's Day provided by the staff. It was a little soggy around there after all the recent rains, but that's what happens in a rain forest on the North Coast. I didn't include the price because I don't know how much tax was involved. Very reasonable around $36.00 with tax. The site we had was actually level. This is the first place I have ever found with actual level sites. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

A little early in the year for fishing, but if you like redwoods, you got them. Trees of Mystery with an excellent Indian museum collection. Up the road there is a Miwok site for the Salmon Festival later in the year and a "hidden" radar site from WWII. In Crescent City you can visit a lighthouse when the tide is right and again it was too early in the season for the tours, but we have been there before.

Roads are paved and easy to get around on, sites are gravel, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were clean with ok pressure and plenty of hot water. This is pleasant CG at the end of a not very busy road right on the Klamath river. They have wifi which we couldn't get to work and cable which we couldn't get to work but I'm pretty sure that was operator failure on my end. Verizion cell and Mifi worked fine. They have a little camp store with last minute stuff you might need. This is an excellent place to go check out the Redwoods. The camping rate is actually < $20 with Passport America. Come with your food well stocked as the closest shopping is in Crescent City. We have stayed at other CG's in the area for about the same price at about this time of year, we'll be staying here on our next visit to the the area. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice and quiet park in the woods by the river. WiFi is weak but verizon is receiving well. Very nice people in the office. We got a place c3 and we are very pleased. Park wasn't what I expected and my view may be sour after two weeks in beautiful Oregon State Parks. Drive in was down a narrow bumpy road but nothing bad. Pulled in and lady in the office was very nice, got us checked in quickly. We were assigned spot 10 and she said it was best if she walked me to it before parking since our rig is 40 feet. Basically a grass area with 10 spots that are very close together. I asked if we could get one of the closer spots (like 2 - 5) because I was going to have to jockey the rig to park; she said no. I asked if park was full but she said no...not sure why I couldn't move because only two other trailers during our 4 day stay. Got parked and our hitch was over sewer pipe which was behind rig but we made it work. Sites very close together, luckily nobody else came in or it would have felt like fairground event parking. NOTE: there is an upper area of the park laid out like a conventional park that looked nicer. Not sure how many big rigs would fit. VERY bumpy approach...go slow! Power post was leaning quite a bit but worked. Sewer was slow to drain. No ATT cell, DirecTV satellite worked fine. No wifi though advertised. Went to office when we couldn't connect and was just told it was pretty poor. Good stuff: nice people, band and bbq on Saturday night. Probably would look for other options next time. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed just one night on our way through the Redwoods, but had a lot of fun! We arrived just as the weekly barbecue and country-band music was getting under way. Super tasty, and the band was lots of fun. We were encouraged to bring our own wine to enjoy with the barbecue. Great service throughout - super friendly folks at the store too! The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a slight problem with the power receptacle and they immediately came and fixed it. Wifi never did work for us and the cable tv was fuzzy, but the surrounding nature hikes are amazing. From what we could see as we drove around, this seemed to be the nicest RV park in the area. We would certainly return again. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park itself was a nice quiet place. The staff was friendly. The showers and the bathrooms need some extensive cleaning. I don't mind if things are old, but a good cleaning is needed. Laundry consists of one washer and one dryer. Good price, we used a PA discount. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed every minute. This is our 3rd trip in 6 years and each one is better than the last. There are new improvements each time we arrive. This time they are adding outdoor games such as horseshoes. The playground for children is a nice touch. Management personnel are very helpful, as are the workers. Compliments to the cooks for the Saturday night BBQ. Food was awesome as was the local band that played through dinner and afterwards. The only negative is they don't sell their "Secret Recipe" for the BBQ. Thanks for a great week. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Motorhome.

Kamp Klamath does not have "full timers," only workampers.

The rate is Passport America: Cute small park currently undergoing some renovations due to some flooding in the area - It has been an extremely wet spring here in northern California. So there were no bathrooms or showers available. They did offer an outhouse if needed. The only area open to RV's was the "Mesa" area - so upper level where it hadn't flooded. There are only about 20 sites up here and about 8 are taken by full timers. You couldn't ask for nicer or more helpful management and ownership. The "helper" guy was available when we arrived with reservations and in contact with the owner to guide us to our site - which we could pick from available sites. The owner stopped by as we were headed to our sites to introduce himself and tell us about the area. Later the Manager stopped by to introduce himself and make sure we were happy with everything. They told us about some local sites to see - a loop drive nearby that provided some spectacular views of the coast and the old Army Radar Station on the coast here. The park is above the Klamath River - no access to the river that we could see - maybe in the lower section which looks like it is more for tent camping. The sites are fairly level, the power is good and the cable is just OK but we were able to get a Direct TV satellite signal easily. The Wifi was very slow and sporadic. Mostly I used my Verizon 4G which was good. The water faucet is so low that it was difficult to get my pressure reducer and hose hooked up without kinking my hose or having it dip into the mud. There are some good sites to see in the area so this is a good stop for a couple or 3 nights. In the summer they have a Bar B Que on Saturday evenings that the locals say is fabulous. We are here too early for that. We would stop and stay here again if in the area. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to take the Alder Camp Road Loop - ask the management if you are not sure where it is. Trailers and Motor homes not permitted on the loop. Trees of Mystery are worth the visit - take the aerial gondola - great views. Go south to Elk Meadows and drive the Bald Hill Road to the Lady Bird Johnson Grove of Redwoods.

Thank you for the kind words, Nimo.
Actually Kamp Klamath does not have any "full timers". We do, however have a number of workampers in RVs.
We have recovered from the flooding and have made lemonade from lemons by doubling the size of our vegetable garden with newly deposited silt, adding thousands of square feet of new grasses and completely redoing the bathrooms and showers, including a new roof.
River access [we have 1/3 of a mile frontage on the Klamath River] is through the Meadow below our redwood dining deck.
We have also replaced the flood-damaged WiFi components.
Thank you for the heads up on the faucets...We will raise them in late May.

This is what camping should be. Rustic with, no highway noise, water, electric, sewer hookup. Friendly staff. They monitor who's in the park. = security. Interior roads were a bit swamped with all the March rain. But your in redwood country. & redwoods thrive on rain. If we're in the area again- will stay here again. The staff are great. The manager was the most friendliest manager I have met in my 27 years of camping. They show you your campsite and make sure you have what you need to get setup. They help you find the local tourist attractions. The campground is well rounded with things for the kids and a large open area for throwing softball, etc. Tent camp or trailer camp this is the place to go.

They hosted a Saturday night dinner with fresh caught salmon and BBQ chicken. Also, live entertainment. We made friends at the dinner and had a great time!

We plan on going back on our next trip. We have already recommended it to everyone we know that camps, and our good friends are going there in September. We camped at Kamp Klamath RV Park in a Motorhome.
