Site was paved, level & long enough, pull-thru. Power & water worked fine, though I found it strange that "seepage was normal" in a state where drought is legendary. Closest restroom was a dump. Shower was a dungeon. Others in the park were much nicer. Loved the area. Gorgeous views. Lots to see & do. Nice County-Mini golf course next door. Museum on site no longer accepts CG ticket for entry. Campers now pay the same as everyone else. Will find somewhere else next time we're in the area. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Chamber of Commerce on N. Harbor St. Gal there was a hoot & really new her stuff. Great wi-fi at the Library next door. If you're coming or going from 101, use Ca 46 instead of 41. A little farther, but much easier road for RV's. If you're into antiques, check out The Good Flea on Main St. Amazing stuff. Loved the squirrels at the base of "the Rock" & the sea-otters in the bay.

Made reservations 6 months out. Very nice state campground that is well managed. Sites are fairly roomy, with decent privacy between sites. Water/electric utilities are in good shape. Dump station on site. Lots to do around here. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, golf. This park is very quiet with almost no road noise. Definitely a hidden gem. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like to walk, downtown is 25 minutes away. The easier choice is a 10-minute bike ride. Plenty of good restaurants, use Yelp to pick some. If you drive, there is plenty of parking downtown. Hiking and mountain biking nearby. Kayaking down at the harbor, easy to set your boat in the water. Went rock-cod fishing with a few friends on the Avenger and caught our limit within four hours. Great place to hang out as a couple or with friends.

We have been here several times. Love the onsite restaurant and golf course. Local hikes and shopping is great. We stayed in the dry camping sites. Sites were clean and well cared for. We will be back. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Great place to stay with the most amenities nearby (see tips). The campground is getting updated with new fire pits etc. Toilets and showers are constantly cleaned as well as trash picked up regularly. The park is very dog friendly as long as you keep them on the lease including hiking trails. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is so much to do here. You have the excellent park golf course next door, the Marina and wildlife, Morro Rock, downtown and the Embarcadero. If you require hook-ups, make sure you make reservations way in advance. Since our rig is solarized, we can dry camp much easier and reservation are not a problem.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in the front part of the campground with water and electric hookups. Even though this was a set of parallel pads, the spacing was more generous that the other state parks we visited the same week and we enjoyed sitting outside with a fire in the evenings. It was the best of the 3 state parks, and we plan to return. There was WiFi but it was not too usable but Verizon 4G was fine. There is a dump station but we managed to arrive at checkout time so we had a wait. The attendant told us that check-in was 2 pm but she said she could let us in at 12:30 which was better than at another state park where they made us wait, but not as good as another with no worries. The picnic table and grill were made by the CCC and it was fun to see stone columns for the table legs. There were CG hosts circulating with firewood to purchase so it was very convenient. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is about a mile from Downtown so very convenient. Downtown was very relaxed and we enjoyed it. The Museum of Natural History was small but informative. We liked the Black Hills, and nearby El Moro Elfin Forest and Montana de Oro State Park.

We stayed in this campground several years ago in a smaller rv and were eager to return. This time the rig was bigger and the sites seemed smaller. Overall the campground is showing serious neglect with overgrown bushes crowding the campsites. I have many new scratches down the sides of the rig just from trying to pull into my site. I can't imagine there isn't a CCC crew that wouldn't love to spend a few days there. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The marina is just across from the campground along with the "Bayside Cafe" which has good food. Kayak rentals are available there too. Several good nature walks are in the vicinity and a beautiful golf course is just next door. The Embarcadero, (waterfront shops and restaurants) and Morro Rock are a short drive away.

Being a campground, and not a park. It's a great campground, you golf, mountain bike, hike, kayaking, cafe, all in the park. Bathrooms are your SP standard, rangers are all lot of help with suggestion in town. I will be back. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Morro Bay is a great little town with beautiful beaches and lots to do in the area. This state park is older, as most are, but decently kept up and located in a great area. Just across the street is the marina and a wetlands trail. The town of Morro Bay is about a mile away. We stayed in the front section of the park, which is three rows of pull-throughs with electric and water hookups, which are long but kind of narrow. There is no view to speak of, but the vegetation provides a decent amount of privacy. The roads are easy to navigate and the sites are pretty level. Overall a great place to stay in the area. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It's always a joy to stay at Morro Bay State Park. Good level sites, with some shrubs between the RV sites. Dump station available. Nice café across the street in the Marina, within walking distance. They do have WiFi available for the front part of the park, near the ranger station. The first 30 sites here are reserved for RV only, so you will get some WiFi. TV reception is decent. Clean bathrooms and showers. Firewood available for sale, fire rings and a concrete picnic table at each site, which is nice. Will continue to stay here! We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Morro Bay State Park is an excellent campground. It has 30 amp water/electric only with spacious sites. However, I don't think the $50/night fee is even close to reasonable. For the money, I'd recommend to stay somewhere else. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean and State Park campsite. The RV sites are all pull through, so it's easy in and easy out. Sites are paved and level. Some have shade, but most are without. Electrical and water hook ups are all working and in good order, bathrooms are clean and well kept. Showers are free; water was warm but not hot. No camp store but nearby town is walking distance. Would recommend and we'd go back there again. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best state parks we have stayed. Sites are not on the water and a couple miles from the "rock" but in walking distance to marina and small beach. Nice golf course is adjacent to the campground. Walking distance to a great little restaurant Bayside. First come first serve to reserved RV sites, but all were about the same. Clean, very friendly staff. Museum also in walking distance and town is a bike ride away. Will definitely come back since there is water/electric for the RV sites and dump station also on site. We love this area, so our review may be biased. We had an ADA site with electric and water hookups for our 37' travel trailer. Plenty of room for the truck and trailer. The site is a cement slab with a table and fire pit. The pad was perfectly level, negotiable by a wheelchair, and with room to deploy the lift. Be sure to get the state park access pass to enjoy a 50% discount. This is not the same as the handicap placard for parking in handicapped parking zones. The placard will allow you to use the ADA spot, but will not give you the discount. Also, please don't reserve the spot without a handicap placard. You will be turned away, and you will have taken the spot from someone who really needs it. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Travel Trailer.
