I’ll start by saying that this is a unique and very cool park! We loved the peninsula camping. We pretty much had our own beach and my dogs loved it. The shuttle to the restaurant was super handy for us because we had no tow behind. The food at the restaurant was delicious too. We loved being on the river and enjoyed the availability to rent a pontoon boat so we could take a trip down the gorge into lake Havasu.

Our only complaint.... something got messed up in scheduling and we were told:

#1. We were the only ones on the peninsula yet an hour later someone else showed up and they had rented the spot a year in advance.

#2. We were told it was available for two nights only to find out the next day while we were in our rented pontoon boat that someone had it rented. So we had to bring the boat back and hurriedly hook up the motorhome and move it. They offered us another spot but after unhooking and loading everything up we just decided to leave.

What I think happened is she had one site in mind that no other people had rented and no other people were on the peninsula and somehow mixed it up and gave us another one on a different peninsula. Needless to say it was frustrating and had we known all this we wouldn’t have rented the pontoon boat ($311.). So.... that is why I gave it 4 stars when the park itself deserved 5. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

The property is an amazing place. Although it was a little dirty around the sites, the overall property is nice. Our site was not on the peninsula, and felt like we where in a gravel parking lot. The breakers flipped a few times until we changed sites and where in luck. A little more shade around RV's would be amazing. Also there was trash blowing all over the camp area. Just old bottles, wrappers, nothing gross, but they should do a little more clean-up. The water was great, and our kids had a blast. I would like to try the sites out in the peninsula sometime. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Stayed with a group of four in one of the Coves. Nice to have a area to ourselves with a private beach. Outstanding park if you have a boat or ATV. Dusty but that's to be expected in the desert. Layout of the coves vary; we expected to all be around the edge with a party area in the center but ended up with two rigs side by side and two backed in. Sort of weird but it worked. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice party place, ATV's and boat heaven. Private cove was nice since there were four in our group. Grocery store and restaurant were nice, and they have a shuttle to/from your site in case you plan to drink. Windy and dusty when we were there so be prepared to clean! Only complaint is condition of the interior roads; they really need a repave.

Our first impression of this park was not very good since the road going to the campsites is pretty bad, and the entrance to the peninsula is very sandy. But the staff was excellent in helping us move to a different site when the one we booked didn't really work well for us. Because of how helpful and friendly the staff was, plus how nice the second site was, changed our opinion of the place. Even though going into the peninsula the sand is very soft, once you get back to the site, the dirt is packed hard and we didn't have any issues getting level. All the utilities are grouped together in the back, so we did need extra sewer hose to reach. The water pressure was extremely good. I'm not sure if it was because the park was pretty empty when we were there. Each peninsula has a beach area in between it, so there is plenty of area's to get to the water. I'm sure it's one big party during their busy season. We didn't get a chance to try out the restaurant, maybe next time. We would definitely come back, maybe with some friends next time. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

There is not much outside the park. Needles is about 15 miles away and gas was very expensive. If you are coming through Arizona, get gas in Parker before you cross the border.

Overall Rating:

Pirate Cove RV park is located on the shores of the Colorado River. A highly popular RV park for water and off road activities. RV sites are partially developed and are located on multiple sandy peninsulas. One must exercise caution when parking their RV not to become stuck in the soft sand. Some sites have warning signs regarding soft sand, others do not. Sites are typically partially developed and are not level. Each site is made of sand and dirt and it can become quite dusty. No cable TV, and WIFI is less than desirable. Sites are remotely located from RV park services. Not a desirable site for overnight accommodations. If you are an avid water sports or off road enthusiast, this RV park is for you. Access road to RV sites are poorly maintained and full of pot holes. Attendant at the check in site warned us of many pot holes and loose sand. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

I should say, we stayed here in the "off" season, Mid week and the park was pretty empty. We stayed in a river ft site, Plenty of room great full hookups out in the middle of nowhere! Very quite stay for us, you can hear the trains off in the distance but not a problem. They offer a shuttle service to get you from your site to the store or bar/restaurant. We would stay here again- but not on a weekend or busy season- Looks like it would be crazy!!! We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Very unique and enjoyable place. Looks like a party magnet, but we found it fairly quiet and not at all packed/busy. Our waterfront peninsula site was level and although the utilities were in the right place, they were showing some wear. Very nice, clean semi-private beach and decent picnic table. I couldn't find this info anywhere, but it appears that most all the peninsula sites are back-in. This means that the on the 4 RV peninsulas the 'A' sites have the motorhome outdoor living space facing the beach while the 'D' sites living space face the peninsula. We were in 'A' which afforded more privacy and a better view. The only other motorhome on our peninsula was in 'D' and they pulled in rather than backed in and ran power and water the length of the rig (probably didn't have enough sewer hose?). There was heavy construction (i.e. Very noisy from 6:30am) going on at the intersection of the peninsula access road and the road that parallels the peninsulas. The access road out to the peninsula area is pretty rough and has a couple of nice ruts. The splashpark and the Zipline were not in service (no idea why). The store was nice and stocked all the basics plus a ton of beachwear. The bar was semi-busy and fun. Didn't try the restaurant, tho it looked nice and is now open for breakfast and lunch. Very nice place, overall. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

I don't think there is a grocery in Needles and the closest may be Havasu City or Mohave. If you aren't fond of boats or atv's, you might want to skip this place.

They charge a premium rate but do not deliver premium service. They charge for showers but the showers take 6 minutes to warm to even luke- warm or don't work at all. Sewer service at site seems to have been inoperative for some time and office did not know about it when assigning space. Maintance here is lackidasical by comparison to other parks, both state parks and private campgrounds. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

This was a rather unique place to camp... full hookups just a few feet from the Colorado River on semi-private "peninsulas" that each hold four RVs (a couple peninsulas hold a dozen or so RVs, good for large groups). Pros: camp right along the river with dog-friendly semi-private beach access (each peninsula of four RVs shares a section of beach); full hookups; camp fires allowed on the beach (but not in the camping area); good cell signal. Cons: some of the sites can be cramped if all four sites on a peninsula are occupied; some noise from boats going up and down the river; kind of a long drive to any amenities/shopping; roads in poor condition; watch for extra fees. We did the three-night special for $117, but then had to add a $10 reservation charge (you have to pay it whether you call or do online reservations) and $2 per day for our dog. They charge $25 if you arrive early, and $50 per hour if you depart late. They charge $10 per day if you bring an extra vehicle (no fee for RV towed vehicle), and there was a whole list of other potential charges. Sites are sand, which can be a little deep in areas. We'd consider staying here again. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Price reflects winter discount of "pay for 2 nights and stay for 3". We really like this place, full hookups just feet from the beautiful Colorado River. Desert topography does afford some shade trees, beyond that it is dirt spots. Recommend you reserve early. The A or D sites in the all the areas do not block you in between other rigs, but even so most all have nice views of the river. You can make fires on the beach and it is dog friendly. There is good cell service throughout the peninsula camping areas on the river; however, while they only support wifi in the vicinity of the camp store and restaurant we have found that if you camp in peninsula sites 1-16 the wifi signal worked fine on my laptop. Excellent site right on the Colorado River. We stayed here mid-week because of the park's offer. We were in a peninsula site (4 sites on a little peninsula with private beach) and had the entire peninsula to ourselves. We felt like we were boondocking in the middle of nowhere but with full hook ups and spotty WiFi. Showers, office and store were on the other side of the cove so we didn't use the facilities. This is a great get away for us in the off season as it is QUIET. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

This was an incredible campground. It was very windy the whole time we were here. The peninsula sites are private and you share a beach with the 4 RV's on your peninsula. We were there in April and felt like we had the place to ourselves. The bar and grille was good but the "bucket" drinks were very pricey.($30 for one drink!) Full hookups right on the Colorado river. The RV sites were on dirt and gravel and required several blocks to get our trailer level. When I called and made the reservation the girl at the front desk said all sites and hookups are back in. That is not the case. Some sites are made to drive in for motorhomes. The site they gave us had hookups made to drive in and not back a trailer into. However it was easy to change sites. The only negative thing that happened was on our last night. The group who was coming into our peninsula site the day we left were let in by the security guard at 2AM. They woke us up and were very loud. They should of been put in overflow parking until we left in the morning. Checkout time was 11AM and we felt rushed out of our site due to the 3 rigs who had pulled onto our peninsula and were waiting for us to leave. We called the front desk and complained and they were very friendly and apologetic. The girl at the desk said they are not supposed to let guests in so late and the security guard should not have done that. If it weren't for that I would have given a 9 (no 10 because of no cable TV.) We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of my most favorite parks. It has something for everyone. They have campsites on an asphalt lot or you can drive down to the other end of the park and camp on the Colorado rivers edge. The spaces are pretty level and only on dirt. However, they do have full hookups. It is quiet and simple beautiful. And while you are there check out the Pirates Cove Bar and Grille. Great food and conveniently located on the premises. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Great place to camp, each camp area hold from 4 to 10 rigs, most hold 4. Campsites are not laid out very well, request direction you'll be facing (river, desert, or another rig) when you book. Once your booked in a spot, the staff has a problem to change it. For example I requested 2-A, they said it was not available, they put us in 2-B for two weeks, we were for two weeks and some one did come into 2-A, they were there for one day???? Price reflects monthly winter rate. We were here for 6 weeks in a peninsula site right on the River. Very clean, security very good, river access great, beach between each peninsula. Restaurant mediocre and over priced but good atmosphere, nice bar, etc. Route 66 at Topak restaurant excellent and close. Shopping in Needles about 10 miles. Will definitely spend more time there if we have opportunity. We camped at Pirate Cove RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.
