Sac West is perfectly located for us to visit our daughter. We like to stay in the 50 amp row right up front. All workers are very pleasant. If you desire there is the 24 Karat Grill that cooks up great breakfast or brunch up to 1PM - And they deliver to your site! The pool is fantastic! This time of year they place an air inflated dome over the top and it is 80 degrees! Just wish they would add a skinny dip hour say about 9:00 PM to 10. Only reason I gave an 8 is because of Highway 80 freeway noise. Just a quick jaunt off Highway 80 and you are there. Great place! - webmeister
Nov 2018 - $72.00
We stayed in a pull through site close to the office. The site was a little snug for motorhome staying hooked to the car. Even though we stayed one night we unhooked the car to park it in better and off the road. They have s little food cart we hear is good. We might get a chance to try it. One thing I wish would be they place check in and out tons on their site. Check in is 2:00 however we arrived st 1:00 And able to check in since check out is 12:00 We had to call to find this out. Park is clean and staff very nice and friendly. My favorite part is the heated pool. Check in 2:00 Check out 12:00. - Snigglefritz

Sac West is an old KOA which was repurposed along the way. Plenty of stuff still for kids, which is fine as far as it goes. We don't travel with children (not yet, but hey, one day the grandkids will be allowed to go with their crazy grandparents . . . we hope) but our dog Izzy is kind of like a kid. She enjoyed walking down to the creek's edge. Hard to call it a river, but there were ducks on there, so she was happy. Otherwise, the sites were just gravel, not terribly level, so we had to unhook the toad for one night (always nice when we don't have to do that), and the hook-ups were also old and somewhat rusty. It's situated right off the freeway and like I said, the river is, well . . . it's a creek or a slough or something kind of like a river, just don't call it a river, okay? And no, you cannot swim in it, either, due to pollution. I thought it was way overpriced for what we needed, but if we had kids and spent maybe an extra day there, we'd use the salt water pool (nicer than all that chlorine), or eat at the mini food truck on the premises. I think the value is in the extras, not in the park itself. So for us, not that much of a value. Also - pet peeve since I have a small dog (chihuahua/jack russell mix) - someone had a huge mastiff (thankfully on lead . . . often owners just don't feel the need!) walking about the park near us. I was surprised this breed was allowed in, as like most parks they say they don't let in aggressive breeds. Right. - Ellistea

Very happy to find Sherwood Harbor. Very rustic with lots of huge cottonwoods. If you want pristine perfectly spaced concrete sites, this is not for you. But to find a park in a metro area that is more about nature, its great. It had been raining and lots of puddles including some of the road sections are dirt. Designed for back ins with view of the river out the back, but they let us pull our 35 motor home directly in and use our extra cables/hoses. During the winter only the upper section is used as the lower can flood. However, I would NOT want to get our rig into the lower section. Access from the south on Chicory Loop (new name) into the upper section was not difficult but would have been impossible with anything in tow to the lower section - use north entrance for lower part. Follow their directions because of the new street names and a road or 2 closed (GPS likely to lead you there). But they are SO friendly, even offered to come and guide us in when we got lost! As others have said, excellent wifi by office and in site #1 where we stayed. Price includes all taxes, etc. - BandD
Sep 2015 - $35.00
We could not maneuver our 40' motorhome into this park. The manager called us earlier in the day and because we were arriving late (8pm), instructed us to make a "quick right" into the park. We had never stayed here before and came in from Consumnes River Blvd. Big mistake. The road is narrow and dark with low hanging branches all along the way. The 'quick right' was virtually impossible. A woman ran out to meet us and told us to continue another half mile to turn around to enter from the north. Even after doing that, our 20 year RVing experience told us the steep entrance road was too risky especially at night. We opted to dry camp overnight at a nearby Home Depot. - billandmemakes3
Jul 2014 - $25.00
Lots of space between camp sites. Most visitors stayed at least a few nights so not so much in and out activity which was nice. Lower level has well placed mature trees for good shading Delta breezes to cool off. Great view of river. Marina has small swimming area to dip. Office staff very helpful, accommodating and friendly, the type of people you always want to find at campgrounds/RV parks. Laundry on site (2 washers, 2 dryers). Wi-Fi spotty if far from marina office but it is free so sit yourself outside office on the deck to watch the sunset while you surf the net. Rate is unbeatable. $25 day is weekly rate. Convenient location to shopping for necessities (Nuggett food, Lowe’s, Target, Earth First). Lower level does not have sewer hook up. Four full bathrooms available, 3 keyed (pay $15 deposit), one available to EVERYONE so avoid that particular unit. Lower level entry a bit steep. Our site required two layers of levelers on one side. Most other sites used some kind of leveling adjustment as parking was on grass. Upper level in full sun and mostly permanent residents (some units very old). Ownership heavily waters during summer heat to cool down camp area. This created an ant invasion every watering. Some road noise from River Road but dies down at night time. We had extended stayed due to having business and family in the area. We would gladly return for shorter stays but no sewer hook up does gets old. There is dump station but you have to exit lower level, go down the road at least a mile to turn around, enter upper level camp area, then exit upper level, go down the road at least a mile to turn around around to come back to enter the lower level. - THTH

Jul 2017 - $35.00
Sites are very basic, with water and electric only. There is a dump station for an additional $8 per use. However, the bathrooms and shower facilities were clean and spacious, so we didn't use our waste tanks much. This is certainly a better bargain than the other place which is about 10 miles from Placerville. A grocery store, gas station and brewery/restaurant were all within walking distance. - Team Janne
May 2014 - $30.00
Thirty dollars a night, no sewer hookup, no dump station, no WiFi. When I asked in the fairgrounds office if I could put a letter with their outgoing mail, I was told I could not, but I could take it down the street to the grocery that had a "blue box". Certainly my spot was nice enough. They put me by the wine gazebo next to the museum. It was clean and it was level, but for thirty dollars a night, I would expect more. - nanzhere
Oct 2012 - $30.00
Note: phone number above good for Mon-Fri 9-4. Per earlier review, it is dispersed camping in the county fairgrounds. There are many nice spots where you can be placed. Lots of grass and open fields. We had a sweet spot near the maintenance building --sounds crummy but it was great. They had an event so we couldn't stay in this other spot nestled in a grape arbor. Maintenance guy met us at gate and was extremely helpful and accommodating. Water and electric hook ups, but no dump. Have flush toilets on site. They are trying to get a dump station in, but they are "fighting city hall". We had the whole, entire fairgrounds to ourselves. Sweet! He even gave us the key to the showers, so we had showers only we could use. Gets an 8 because the road noise is VERY noticeable. Pretty easy place to stay and easy to get to Tahoe for the day. We would return. - theresal58

Under new management the park is pretty much the same except for more cabins and wifi is now excellent. The park is still best used during the week for it gets crowded on weekends. - Bill Barnes
Sep 2018 - $45.00
Stopped over for a few days visiting friends in the area. Very quiet, wide spacious sites with some shade. We stayed after Labor Day mid week, but can see where this could be a busy, family friendly park. All-in-all very satisfied. - Travlnpj

We have been to this park several times. This park is now owned by Sun Resorts and the daily rate seems to be skyrocketing! Extra charge for guests, their car, etc. cabins available as well. - OBZRV2

Mar 2018 - $40.00
Beautiful waterways for recreation on or off the water. We saw swans, ducks, a bald eagle and river otters on our walks. Heard coyotes and owls at night! Some sites are close together, others have plenty of space - check the site map. Love that we are out in the middle of true countryside! Kind of funny to be within sight of a decommissioned nuclear power plant, LOL! But who cares! It is safe now and the area is quiet and remote. - BindiGirl
May 2016 - $18.00
The park is rural. It has a lot of grass which is well kept up. It has a lake for fishing. Only electric motors or rowing or sailing is allowed. There is a 4 mile trail around the lake. There are many tent sites and 18 W&E sites. Reservations advised. - Ed Martin
Jan 2015 - $20.00
This is a delightful recreation area about fifteen miles east of Hwy 99/Galt. It is in a treed area that looks out on pasture land as far as the eye can see on one side and a lake on the other side. It is rich with wildlife (which I heard at night) and so many birds. Apart from the birds one can hear not a sound. No highway, no trains, just silence. It offers water and electric with a dump station. It has restrooms with a laundry. The sites are all back in but they are spacious with picnic tables, BBQ, and fire pits. Not only are they spacious but there is a generous amount of room on either side allowing a bit of privacy. Being here on off season I had no one around me at all. My spot was not quite level but not bad. It offers no Wifi but I was able to pick up a satisfactory Verizon signal. There is fishing in the lake and a fenced in dog park next to the lake so your pooch can run and play in the water. It is about a forty minute drive to Sacramento give or take depending on where in Sacramento. This makes it ideal if you have reason to visit Sacramento but don't want to deal with traffic in your RV. The entrance gate closes early and you cannot get in without a reservation after the gate closes. The off season closing is 3:30 in the afternoon and regular season I believe is 6 maybe 6:30. So if you are going to arrive after these times, make sure you have a reservation. When you leave and get back after the gate locks, you have to use the phone at the gate to identify yourself and then they open the gate to allow you in. A minor inconvenience but it keeps out anyone who does not belong there. The rate I paid is for the off season, it is double that in summer. One of the most lovely places I have stayed. - nanzhere

This is a beautiful, country setting campground. My older children go often with their friends and spend fun time together. It offers it all: swimming, boating, fishing, etc. - abijjeli
Sep 2009 - $30.00
Campground is not as bad as I had read. The lake was way down and very muddy. It was 7 miles to fuel and a small town. Sites do have some shade but are not level. There are limited rest rooms: kind of clean with no showers. Noisy after 10! We stayed in the RV section and it was more tame then the tent sites. We wouldn't come back. - Tredguy
