If you like close sites, barking dogs that the park does not stop, tight turns and the constant cow manure smell, this is your park. Paved roads and half of the sites are gravel and it took three sites before we could level. The park is surrounded by cattle and dairy fields. Lots of cows and lots of poop. We only went outside to get in the car to get away from here. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Give it a 2 only because it is an easy on/off from Hwy 101. I have stay at 100+ parks and this is the worst. Sites are tight, there seem to be a lot of long-term residents, and the smell of cows/goats was strong. I would not recommend even overnight and will not return. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park offers all kinds of accommodations. Cabins to dry camping and everything in between. We stayed in a premium pull-thru spot, full hook-ups. This type of space provides asphalt driveway for the RV, a picnic table and fire ring in a grass area between your rig and the one next door. Most of these grassy areas are dead as was ours, this would be a pretty park if the grass was alive. Spaces are roomy, but not level. Wi-Fi is reliable, cable reception is poor and satellite service is unavailable in most spots because of the trees. Not all spaces are afforded shade by the many trees in the park, ours was one of those. It was too sunny to enjoy an evening meal outside as the spaces are oriented backwards. If we had been facing the other direction, the coach would have provided shade and evenings would have been lovely. They do have "reverse end spots" that provide good orientation to the setting sun, plus gliders and lawn chairs are provided. The park has tons of amenities, obviously oriented to the family camper, with petting zoos, pool, bocce, video game rooms, etc. Lots of kids on the weekend even though school had started. The dog park is one of the best we've seen, even includes some agility apparatus. The laundry room is good size, with nice high efficiency machines. The machines were clean, the laundry room was not. We cleaned the folding table so that we could fold our clean laundry. We would not choose to stay here again, mostly because of the "no comfortable outside area at our site". Just not our cup of tea and not maintained as well as it should be. The dog will be disappointed. Rate reflects KOA discount. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Great location for the wine country; lots for families/kids to do in the campground. Wi-Fi is pathetic and we won't stay here again, for this reason, as we do have some business to do, even when traveling for recreation. Tengo internet seems to be the KOA vendor of choice, and KOA should choose again. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Wonderful rv park, beautiful big trees, ample sites! Staff was more than accommodating and went out of their way to offer assistance when required. Daily activities and great amenities for kids including a petting zoo. We would definitely come back. Cute town of Petaluma with easy access to the hwy for a trip to San Francisco. Very clean bathrooms and showers. We had a very nice site. Lots of grass and we had a bench swing next to our site. We didn't have young children with us, but the children that were there were sure having a great time. We used the dog park that could have used a little sprucing up, but didn't seem to get much use. Pool was nice. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park, but cost a pretty penny, as all KOA`s do near anything tourist want to look at. Take their San Francisco tour, it`s the greatest I've ever taken. Park is very clean and the staff is great. If you want to play tourist in San Francisco, this is the place to stay. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Very busy park but well managed. Wi-Fi was a little sketchy, but Verizon service worked great. Stayed here for the NASCAR race, good location also for San Fran. Highly recommend the KOA San Fran tour, well worth the money. Well stocked store and open till 11:00 pm. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

This is the best example of a true family RV Park. Large swimming pool, petting zoo, numerous things for kids to jump on and do. They require you to wear theme park type bracelets as you walk around the park (we did not). Kids all over the place. Organized groups of all types and sizes. We stayed here with another couple to access wine country, Point Reyes and Muir Woods. It was perfect. Quiet at night considering the amount of kids, nice sites with large trees. They have decent cable, forget about getting satellite or phone service for the most part. It's a bit pricey, but the only show in town. Staff was friendly. Overall a good experience. We stayed for a week. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Our rate reflects the KOA discount card plus our choice of no sewer site, but we had water, electric, cable and WiFi. It is a big park with many choices for types of sites. We took the tour into San Francisco and were very impressed. Although costly, it saved a lot of driving, tolls and parking fees plus our guide was a native and had so much great information given in an interesting manner. We saw lots and lots of San Francisco! The park is very kid friendly with many activities for the younger crowd. The park needs a better bathroom situation for the more remote sites and cabins. If that were improved, we would rate it a solid 10. We would return. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a typical family-oriented KOA, but with way more activity and people than I've ever seen at other KOAs. It is a strange approach, up a long hill. Saw the peacocks, but didn't think....Tons of people swarming around the pool and petting zoo. Lots of people in the store buying all kinds of things, including SF trips so long wait to check in. Need wristbands and there's a gate to punch a code into just to get into the campground. Roads are pretty tight. Was strange seeing tents everywhere, we usually stay at places that don't allow them. Our pull-thru site was barely long enough; the "asphalt" pad was in a serious state of neglect; the site was sloped so you kind of ran downhill exiting the rig and there wasn't a level place to put a chair. Did I mention kids running everywhere...and the peacocks. They screech all night. When you finally get to sleep at 4 am the kids wake you up at 7....not a relaxing place, but great if you have a bunch of young kids and are used to not sleeping. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The only reason for the 8 rating is price. This is a somewhat pricey park, but the setting was great and the park is well maintained. We would stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a pretty good park. The kids did not want to leave because they have so many activities. We enjoyed the big screen movies at the pool and the big jumpy. This is a big park. We had a problem with the power going out in the whole camp, but it was fixed quickly. We also stayed here last summer. Yes, we would return again. I thought the price was a bit high, but there is good value here. Well stocked store and friendly staff. We will return another trip as well. We stayed in the park a year ago and loved our stay. This year I am downgrading the park due to the "premium" site we were assigned. Our 32 foot 5th wheel barely fit so that we had to find a place to park our truck elsewhere, noting as we looked around that we weren't the only folks experiencing this problem. The site was far from level, making set up a challenge, and the sewer connection was placed on the uphill side. Fire rings were placed right in between units; fortunately neither of our neighbors had fires or our rig would have been inundated by their smoke. There were problems with the park internet (Tengo) disconnecting at times, although our AT&T LTE personal hotspot worked well. There are many nice sites in this park, and many that aren't, so you take your chances. This time we weren't one of the lucky ones, but there aren't a lot of options for staying in Petaluma where we visit family, so we'll probably return. Too dang much money for what you get, but what else is new about KOA. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in our Fifth Wheel with 4 adults and one dog. The rate reflected the extra 2 people and Golden Retriever. Nice clean facility. Some dirt pads, but we had fairly level, asphalt pad with a nice lawn area. Wi-fi was about par for RV parks! Many fulltime residents, but park felt and looked safe and comfortable. Wide interior streets; no problem with 42 ft trailer plus truck. Lots of trees, grassy areas. Its location is close to a freeway and easy to find. Very close to old downtown so lots of food options and activities. Petaluma has a country feel, and the town itself is fun and folksy! This is far and away the best park anywhere near San Francisco. (We have looked extensively.) Worth the extra drive 37 miles to San Fransisco. Children will like this park. Nice pool and nice folks. We plan to stay here anytime we come to the Bay Area. I highly recommend this KOA. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
