We always enjoy staying at a KOA and this location was no different. There are tons of activities and friendly staff. This was by far the largest and busiest KOA we have ever stayed at. The only issue we had was our site was not level. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Nice KOA in a great location in the Sonoma/Napa area. The park is large, very clean and definitely family friendly. We stayed in a premium site which gave us plenty of room for our 36 ft 5th wheel and truck. We had a large concrete patio, patio table with chairs and umbrella and another seating area. Our site was beautifully landscaped as well. They have a nice pool, petting zoo, rock climbing wall and other activities for kids. Free cable and WiFi; our satellite worked from our site. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to do in this area. We went to wineries, went to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve-amazing giant redwoods, Sonoma Coast State Park, and watched our hometown team Houston Astros play in Oakland.

Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times over the past 6 years of full-time RVing. This visit we found they have converted a lower area dedicated to tent camping to a very nice RV section. We had space 99, with a nice concrete patio with furniture, beautiful landscaping, gravel site. These sites had W/E (50A) and a honey wagon comes around every day from 0800-1000 hrs. and empties your tanks, whether you are there or not. This has always been a nice family vacation getaway type park with tons of activities for the kids, central location to wine country or San Francisco, and at $65 per night the value beats all those east coast snow-birding "RV resorts" at $100+ per night, hands down. We stayed here to entertain our grandchildren, a 6 y.o. and a 2 y.o. and it was a great time. The owner has taken good care of this KOA park. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Large KOA with pool, store and tons of kiddie activities on the weekend. We chose a premium site, but it was adjacent to the road where the small train would come by every 5 min on Sat with, of course, music and kiddies having fun. We were glad when that stopped! But, if we had young kids/grandkids, it would be a nice diversion. There are other play areas as well. Sun, Mon and Tues nights were quiet. Good location for us to explore Napa Valley wineries along with a day trip to San Francisco. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a Class act park. If you or your children don't have a good time here, you need to head home. I've stayed in many KOA's and this park has more activities than any I've visited before. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete. The hookups are good and the wifi and cell phone worked. We will stay here anytime we're in the area. Take the time and drive to the town of Petaluma. Out of the CG, turn left, and drive to the stop sign. (T) Turn right and drive to the traffic light. Turn right and stay on the road until you come into town. Drive around because there is a lot to see and places to eat.

Very nice, tons of activities for kids. Nice store. Great staff. They have their own bus tour of San Fransisco, $80 but worth it, very knowable driver, so much better than tring to drive into the city myself. He also gave tips and a map for wine country, redwoods and the beach. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is the KOA that is the embodiment of KOA's national advertising. It's got something for everyone. It's a kids paradise. It's all about fun. There are large class A's and tents, and everything in between. Charming cottages and what looks like mini/lodges. It's a huge property. Even has its own petting zoo. Activities abound.

Site utilities are in great shape. The pool is huge. The WiFi actually worked really well for us, and there was no difficulty getting connected. Even with the crowds on the 4th of July weekend, check in was efficient and calm. It's also dog friendly with a large clean dog park. This is probably one of the highest occupancy KOAs. With so much going on, what makes it work so well is the extraordinary staff headed by its professional manager. Many RV parks run like a hockey team. This gentleman manages the park like a ballet. The staff goes over and above to enhance the campers experience. Most important, it is an owner-run KOA, and the owner is onsite, there to assist and keep things right. These are people that care.

Now keep in mind that this is a KOA with kids everywhere having a noisy great time, and that most sites are close to one another. It's also not inexpensive. But it's well organized and if you want the full KOA experience, this is the park to go to. We arrived without kids, but were captivated by their enjoyment. We found Petaluma to be an absolutely charming town, and we were close enough to San Francisco. They have organized tours of the city. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Petaluma is a charming town 3.5 miles away. Sonoma is nearby. They offer all-day San Francisco sight seeing tours. Check the park map and get a more quiet space in the higher area.

Mature trees give a lot of shade but caution when backing or pulling into your site. This park is large, but terraced along a hillside. Narrow driveway into the park with steep drop off so when coming into the park you will need to 'hog' the lane. You pull up to a Stop sign, register and then get an access code/armband to enter the camp area. Sharp right or left once you enter, so careful with turning. This is a manageable park to get in and out off, but you need to be aware of what you are doing!! Lots of walkers, kids and bikes/go carts. It was probably due to the time of year we were here, but the earwigs were plentiful. Don't store anything under your rig! Also, if you have kids or dogs, there was a small 'goat head' type burr that was in bloom that got on everything. Don't walk barefoot and check your shoes. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful stay. I walked the entire campground and it is very large. Well laid out. Lots of amenities. They offer daily tours into San Francisco. They claim to be the busiest KOA is the USA due to their proximity to San Francisco and Napa Valley. Easy to navigate and large staff is very helpful. We only stayed one night, and it was December so there weren't the usual crowds. Check in was easy, staff courteous and efficient. Site was reasonably level & spacious. The previous camper must have had a problem dumping his black tank though, as there was waste on the ground. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved this place. This is a great place if you have children, great if you don't but you won't use a lot of the amenities. Petting zoo, climbing wall, bounce pillow, pool, hot tub, playground, arcade, extensive store (including local wines), an outside movie by the pool every evening and a pancake breakfast on the Sunday morning we were there. They have something going every week in the summer. We took the San Francisco tour which was awesome. The tour guide does a great job and takes you places you can't go to on the big buses and has great background having grown up there. We can't say enough good about this tour. All the staff we interacted with were friendly. The only thing that could be better is warmer, sunnier weather but they can't control that. We have already recommended this place to friends who have stayed there and liked it as well and we would definitely stay again. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Travel Trailer.
