Been camping here for 40 years. Always wonderful. Store on site. Boat rentals. Dinners served Friday & Saturday nights. - Tahoe Judy
Jul 2018 - $35.00
Don't make the mistake we did... listen to the bad reviews, they are spot on. This park false advertised on their site. No full hook ups. 15 amp, on the site it says 30 amp. No arcade as stated, bar is local hang out NOT for family. Roads are horrific, need grated. We had to use 4 wheel drive to get in our site. Lost all our food. 15 amps not enough for fridge or AC. Left 3 days early no refund offered. - Unhappycamper930
Sep 2014 - $33.00
It's a paved road to get here, then the campground is all dirt. We took a regular site for $33, the XL sites were $50. Only 15 amp electric and water, they have a dump station and a honey-wagon for waste. Hard to find a level site unless you take and XL. You are very rural up here. Best to checkout the campground on foot to find a site that fits your requirements, as narrow and steep roads make driving around a bit difficult. There is a store, cafe, $ Wi-Fi, $ showers, $ laundry. Boat launch and marina. Elevation is around 6,000' so its cool temps. Quiet at night with plenty of stars. Lake is beautiful, but down about 30' as we are in a drought. Campground opens in late May and closes at the end of October. - zigzag

Selected this location as alternative for a two day stay at Yosemite which was closed due to wildfires. We were not disappointed in our choice, and had a great time over there! Certainly Silver Lake for both swimming and canoeing is GREAT. Nice scenery ... We selected this location as well because the good route 88 towards the campground which will bring you through the mountain range quite easily. Service at the campground was friendly, though some improvement was possible in orderly management of the facilities; restaurant closed before scheduled time because of low expected number of attendees, and oversight of available canoes was bit of a mess. But they cleared everything up for us, so no complaints! The meadows (M places) where mostly occupied for people with horses. They did not give any issues or problematic smell, and we had nice talks with the occupants around us. - crowny

Previous reviewer is right, this is not a place for big 5th wheels or Class A's, but our 22 ft Class A Winnebago had room to spare (why did the quit making these little jewels?). We were in site #30 looking out over the river. Price was discounted from $20 due to drought water restrictions. Nice hiking along the river and up to the lake. Though it is within the Eldorado National Forest, this campground is operated by the Eldorado Irrigation District so they do not honor Federal passes. - oldmac
Jun 2008 - $20.00
This campground is at 7,200 feet and is just west of Silver Lake campground. We drove through in our car to see if we could fit in any of the spaces and found the campground to have tight turns, low limbs and short spurs. NOT Class A friendly at all. Lots of walk in sites for tents, water faucets located around the 2 loops and it has vault toilets. No cell phone or Aircard signal. I doubt you could get a satellite signal since it is heavily treed. Nice campground, and if we could have stayed we would have. This CG is perfect for Class C, tent trailers, etc. Not for large 5er's or Class A's. - jannie5

This park is nestled in the pines. Our site was #41. It took 2 legos to achieve level. The wifi signal was free and worked well. The owners have done a great job to provide areas for kids. The mini-golf looked inviting. Using a SurgeGuard, the 30 amp power showed proper voltage. We would stay here again. - Nevadatude
Oct 2018 - $72.00
We come here to this park once a year for our family reunion. This park has struggled with various owners over the years. However, the current owners have put a lot of money into doing upgrades of this park and it shows. Last year, we had our reunion here right after the new owners took over. The cabins were in disrepair and needed new roofs and the interiors were in horrible shape. Over the off season, they did amazing work on the cabins. They look wonderful inside and out. As someone who has visited this park over the last 10 years, this park has been resurrected to one with great WIFI service, solid Cable TV as well as power pedestals that are brand new. The sites are nice and long and though you will have neighbors, you are not on top of one another. This has become a great park with many great amenities added over the years. However, it does not come without a price. This park is a little spendy at $72 a night (Before discounts), but you will definitely enjoy your stay if you are looking for a rustic environment to stay in. Another bonus is they allow any dogs and their owners who are well behaved! - luvdoggiez
Aug 2018 - $67.00
My wife, granddaughter and I spent 3 days at Gold Country (GCC). All 3 had a very good time. We were there during the fires in Yosemite and the smoke was strong all 3 days. The RV section of the park was about 80% full and the tent camping portion 20% full. There were people in cabins as well but I know nothing about that. During our stay there were several things we enjoyed. There was a free craft project on Saturday morning where the kids painted little bird houses to take home. Fun and free. We enjoyed the unheated swimming pool and water park. The water park was much better than I anticipated and my granddaughter loved it. We didn't use the game room but it was available. The camp was very quiet at night. During the day there were lots of kids on bikes and people walking small dogs, all very pleasant. There were a couple of weird things. The showers and bathrooms in the camping area were very clean and nice. The shower at the pool was cold water only and not well maintained. The women's bathroom by the pool had human feces on the floor (in a pile according to my wife). Gross! After staff were notified they sent down a crew to clean. It was surprising to us how poorly the pool bathrooms were since the others were nice. We also were frustrated that the store was not always open at the times on the sign. "We are adjusting due to staffing," they say at the front desk. The RV hook-up we had was new and nice. We didn't try the TV or WiFi. Reception for Verizon was good. The site was mostly level and we used a few plastic blocks only. All in all it is a nice park and we will return again. We visited the park in a 30' motorhome and stayed in a 30' deluxe site which was gravel. - RexAdam

This park is a gem. We stayed here in late Sept and the CG was not very full. I can see where is would be crowded in summer as it sits right along the Cosumnes River. Take the Omo River exit off Hwy 88 and drive 15-20 min down to the CG. The road down is somewhat narrow could be tight in summer with other vehicles. The road into the CG is even more narrow, we did okay since there were no other vehicles around. The CG sites were a good size, some are more level than others. Very fine dust and lots of pine needles. We didn't have any problems with bugs or wasps, but it might have been the time of year. We had a 30 ft MH and we managed to get into our site without a problem. There is a paved walkway along the river with several "piers" built over the river, great for hanging out for the day. The CG says it has drinking water but when we are there their generator was down and there was no water in camp at all. No cell service, no wifi, pay phone in came doesn't take coins. Very nice place to camp especially if you are a tent camper or smaller RV. RV's 30 ft and under go off season. - RVingChick

We've stayed here before and left a review but that was at least 5 years ago. Park is beautiful and nicely landscaped. Access for big rigs is a breeze, utilities are well placed and work well. Concrete pad with room for tow car at back-in site. Staff was friendly and helpful. Verizon signal was strong and satellite reception easily achieved. The weather was very hot but the electrical was strong enough to run our two a/c units without problem. We enjoyed the fried chicken from the store at the bottom of the hill. The buffet at the casino had a wide variety of items and the food was delicious. Shuttle van was very convenient. Park has aged well and we would return again. - Nevadatripin
Jul 2019 - $54.00
I would love to give this park a 5 star rating, except for the restrooms, and lack of activity for children. There is only one restroom with three showers, which are next to the pool. When the restrooms are cleaned, it is only a matter of minutes in that you would not think they were cleaned. The shower floors may be clean, but look dirty from stains. Pool is excellent, and is the major activity for the younger set. - benny42

Staff was very helpful when we showed up at closing time with no reservations. She found us a spot. Office was very nice and clean. The whole park is very nice. - Old Traveler-66

Very nice park in a good location. We come every year for the Wine Crush. They seem to always be having events here so it can be busy here. It is a little pricey but they are in a great location to wine taste in the area. - Hwygod

We have been coming to the 49er RV Village every year for the past 7 years with our two children. As others have noted, a number of infrastructure improvements have been made since Sun RV Resorts took control. New items include new cabins, revamped playground for kids, more reliable electric hookups (steady line voltage), new shuffleboard courts. Unfortunately, the on resort activities and convenience store have suffered. The onsite store is phasing out hand-scooped ice cream (something RVers locals both enjoyed). The store is also phasing out made-to-order coffee drinks and sandwiches--a real shame for those who just don't feel like cooking and and want to pop in for a quick bite or cup of coffee. We were also disappointed to learn that the traditional Labor Day kids activities like the milk carton boat race, watermelon eating contest, balloon toss, etc. were discontinued with no advance notice to guests. This last point was perhaps my biggest disappointment as its something we looked forward to every year (in fact, I would book my reservation a year in advance on Labor Day to request my favorite site in anticipating of this annual family fun activity). - Lance Lewis

Great little full hookup RV park in the big trees....right adjacent to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Its a bit rustic here but that's part of its attraction. Great owners who try hard to make this a nice park. One tip: beware of falling tree sap...at least in the Fall when I stayed there. I would stay there again. - Captain Gort
Sep 2018 - $40.00
This is a terrific little mountain RV park with great owners. I would give it 5 stars except for one TERRIBLE problem: Pine Sap! After just 2 days under these trees, my rig is literally drenched with it! Thousands of 1/4"+ blobs on EVERYTHING. My awning is probably ruined! You can't even walk around your rig without your shoe soles turning into clumps of pine/dirt, like asphalt. Ever try to remove pine sap? Its almost like epoxy. It will take days of hard work to clean up this mess, and even then, I'm sure there will be permanent damage. I've RV'd all over the USA and never faced this. Sadly, I'll not return here because of this.....:-( If you like cleaning pine sap, by all means stay here!!! - Captain Gort
Jun 2018 - $31.00
Park is in a beautiful setting, the air smells so fresh. Sites are a little tight but manageable. Take your time manuerving through the park. Staff is very helpful and friendly. They had a 'communal' fire pit which was nice as we were able to meet new people and our firepit was kind of in the way for our neighbor. There are some locals using the park as a weekend retreat and we found then and the atmosphere to be friendly. We used the site as a home base to visit Big Trees State Park, Yosemite National Park and South Lake Tahoe. We felt lucky as a local band showed up at the park on Friday to 'practice' and they also played at Camp Connell.....what a treat! - locatjl

This review is written as a member of a group of 14 rigs staying 3 nights at this RV park. The kitchen and club room facilities are excellent. The "group loop" is exclusive to the group. 50 amp was not available at our site as well as lack of sewer. Satellite coverage is obtainable in some spots. The dump station is near the park entrance and easily accessible. A lot of previous negative comments on this site are either non-existent or corrected. I would recommend this park to any group of 16 or less. - WindsorDave
May 2016 - $20.00
Condition of the Park ranges from good to bad. Some of the trailers look like they are falling apart and need to be towed away while others are brand new. The bathroom and showers work but the water is luke warm at best and the pressure is terrible. Extremely slippery floors. Roads are in good condition, but with aggressive speed bumps all over the place. They weed whack fairly often so the weeds stay down.
Manager and Owner not pleasant or understanding. Made me feel inferior. Park has Loud Bass Booming Music, Loud Cars with Exhaust, Highway right next to it, and kids you don't know who get into your stuff and ask for stuff. Don't go here. - CornDog1982
Oct 2011 - $30.00
This is a pleasant park. The manager is very friendly and accommodating. Lots of long term residents but lots are kept clean and tidy. Surprised at the trees and shade. Pool is beautiful. Restrooms and showers are extremely clean. Keys are given out to the over nighters. The only complaint is some lots are parked next to three big propane dispensers. Kind of unnerving. - Snooker2
