We decided to stay here on our latest trip to the Central Coast after previously staying at the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort next door. The gal that helped us at the gate was friendly and offered us a few choices of sites and decided to stay in site #13 as it was close to the beach. The site is short, almost square in shape so we had to disconnect our 17' Casita travel trailer and park our tow vehicle adjacent to it, which worked out well. Our site was adjacent to the public access trail to the beach but people were considerate and did not cut through our camp site. While we enjoyed our site which was not far from the amphitheater and the beach there was garbage left at the site and we were also located near the bathrooms and the garbage & recycling. The bathrooms and showers were pretty dirty and can only image in the peak season how filthy they might get. It seems there is a large population of long-term transients that live in the campground and support themselves going through the recycling cans rummaging bottles and cans. Our site was almost directly across from the recycling and on a Monday after a busy weekend we heard the sound of glass clinking and cans being crushed for what seemed like over an hour. It was quite a production with one or two people sorting then an SUV would come by and pick up the recyclables. Next time we come here we intend to camp towards the Southern end, which seemed to have less unsavory elements. There were signs to protect your valuables, so we put away everything and locked up our gas grill in the back of our truck at night or when we went exploring during the day. On a positive note the beach access was great with lots of room for our dog to stroll and good perch fishing. Also, our Verizon phones had an excellent signal for both cellular and data. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We love this campground and drove a long way to get to it. We would normally give it five stars, and have always recommended it to our friends. First of all the staff was great. Second, the location is fantastic, great dog friendly beach. Third, very open campsites...and then it goes downhill. There was a very large population of "sketchy" people. They told us on checkin to be sure and lock up our stuff, and for the most part we did. Stepped out of the RV one morning, and a homeless looking guy was in our campsite. When we left we discovered someone had taken my cycling bag (mostly old stuff of no value, except for a pair of prescription sun glasses, my fault). Just didn't feel safe. Next week they require reservations, which should help. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

For a state park this place is awesome. Lovely walking trails and situated right next to the Dunes. The site was wide and spacious. The ranger was polite although hardly ever there. The Beach is adjacent to the park and there are trails that take you right to the beach rather than exit the park and walk down the street. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Elks lodge is across the way and they had bingo which was fun. Food is readily available, and did I mention the BEACH.

Very nice State Beach. The park is large and the camping spots are nicely separated. Large grassy areas with some trees and shrubs. Short walking distance to the beach. No hookups. Don't show up before 2pm for a new reservation. They will not let you in even if your spot is vacant. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

The park has a really nice location right next to the beach. A quick bike ride gets you on the Pismo pier. The park has nice clean sites with some grass or mowed weeds. Some have shade and others none. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Travel Trailer.

No hookups in this state park. I filled my water tank as we arrived and then dumped them after two days as I left. The sites are widely spaced. We had a pull-through site with a small tree that gave us some shade on the west. There are LOTS of families, which means many kids on bikes and scooters. But, by 10pm, all was quiet. No playground for the little ones, but the beach is fantastic. This is a very popular state park so peak season reservations must be made at least 5-6 months in advance. I would happily return. This is a good place for a campfire because its in a beach town, not a forest - and the weather in the evening tends to be cool.

About as good as you will find in a CA state campground. Perimeter sites adjacent to the butterfly preserve and near the ocean are the best. Close to town. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The rate reflects $5 extra door a non-towed vehicle. The generator rules were confusing. The startup time on the back of the windshield stickers says 10:00 a.m. but the campground info map they give you at check in says 8:00 a.m. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

North beach is still good for a CA state campground. Many of the sites are half circle pull through. Pismo old town is within walking distance and San Luis Obispo is only 10 miles away. It is fairly quiet since the wild campers tend to go to Oceano Dunes. We will stay here again. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We keep going back here, because it's such a great place to camp. Dog friendly and just over the dunes from the beach. Rate reflects an off-season senior discount. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Site was a fairly level paved pull-through. A picnic table and fire grill were included. Most sites had shrubs and trees for privacy. Ground squirrels seem to be a problem as they burrow just about anywhere they feel like. After feeling a bit claustrophobic at another nearby campground we stayed at earlier, it felt good to have some space. Good trails to the butterfly grove, beach, and dunes. Good dump station on the way out. Other than flush toilets and pay showers there are no other amenities available. Still it was worth a couple days stay. We stayed here during Christmas. Have stayed here before and will continue to do so in the future. Park is near the beach. There is a fabulous Monarch Butterfly attraction within the park. Numerous great restaurants within short drive of the park. If you like Mexican food, you have to try Old Juan's Cantina about 5-7 minutes south of the park. There are no hookups but there is a dump station near the entrance to the park. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park, large sites, easy walk over the dunes to the beach. Easy walk into the town too. The beach is very large and flat with good swimming. There was a huge group in a regular campsite with 10 tents. As usual with the CA parks lately enforcement of the rules is hit or miss. Our 3rd time at this park because we love it! Had site number 40 again and it was fairly level. Lots of room between you and your camping neighbors. I've reviewed this one before, and probably enough to say that I won't repeat. Just see my earlier reviews. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Rate was 'winter' price. Beautiful location but be warned - there are No hook-ups. Each site has a picnic table and big fire rings; CG hosts sell the firewood. Sites are generally pull-through, paved, level, and there is lots of grass and scenery between you and your neighbor. We enjoyed listening to the frogs at night and walking over the sand dunes to the beach. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 5 nights and would have loved to have stayed more if we had time. The campground is not on the reservation system until mid-May, so was first come, first served. Turns out, the campground was only about a third full each night. Had space #39, in the middle of the campground. There is lots of space between sites, and there is lots of open space for kids to play. It's a great park for families and I understand why it's always near capacity during the season. Good dog campground too, as you can take your dogs on the beach as well as around the grounds. There are doggie pickup bags at the hosts site (#15), so there is NO EXCUSE for not picking up after your dog! I would go back in a heartbeat. Nightly rate reflects senior discount and off season rate. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.
