Park is well maintained and staff is friendly. Clean bathrooms and showers. They will come and pick up your propane and fill it up for you (not free) but very convenient. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park in a good location. We come every year for the Wine Crush. They seem to always be having events here so it can be busy here. It is a little pricey but they are in a great location to wine taste in the area. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been coming to the 49er RV Village every year for the past 7 years with our two children. As others have noted, a number of infrastructure improvements have been made since Sun RV Resorts took control. New items include new cabins, revamped playground for kids, more reliable electric hookups (steady line voltage), new shuffleboard courts. Unfortunately, the on resort activities and convenience store have suffered. The onsite store is phasing out hand-scooped ice cream (something RVers locals both enjoyed). The store is also phasing out made-to-order coffee drinks and sandwiches--a real shame for those who just don't feel like cooking and and want to pop in for a quick bite or cup of coffee. We were also disappointed to learn that the traditional Labor Day kids activities like the milk carton boat race, watermelon eating contest, balloon toss, etc. were discontinued with no advance notice to guests. This last point was perhaps my biggest disappointment as its something we looked forward to every year (in fact, I would book my reservation a year in advance on Labor Day to request my favorite site in anticipating of this annual family fun activity). We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have been going to this park since the late 1990s. The park was once owned by the original owners who took great pride if the facility with upgrades and green space. Later, this park was purchased by Sun Country around ten years ago and the location was not well kept and we noticed a lot more empty. This year we went back and it was at ~85% capacity which was surprising. We also noticed the service level was much greater than the recent past which is great. This campground is at the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley region for wine tasting between Jackson and Placerville. We love to use this campground as a jumping off point to visit wineries. The park is kid friendly with two pools and a jacuzzi. There is a store onsite with ice cream as well as a regular Pokerville Market across the street. I am rooting for this location to continue to improve and modernize a bit but happy with the subtle improvements as of late. Make sure you go the correct direction and get there early. Novice campers may find backing in a challenge if they get their late. I would say expert RV'ers will be fine and plenty of pull throughs. Be wary of space for pull vehicles in some pull through's. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Check in very efficient. We did not even need to get out of the coach as someone was waiting for arrivals and came to the drivers side with our space assignment and other helpful information. We were in #100 backing up to open farm land. Blacktop pad and some grass. Appreciated the all black top as there is a lot of dirt areas or ones which are thin on grass. They need to water the grass more as its only the beginning of summer. Be watchful of low hanging branches both in the spaces and along the road way. You will clear them but they brush all along your roof. They need to trim them up 2-3 ft and along the sides. The good side is almost every space is shaded, nicely shaded. Pond is green even though it is not stagnant. Water fountain keeps it aerated. Our space had a poor/almost totally out 50 Amp service. I went back to the office at 6PM and within 15 minutes a maintenance man came, checked things out, went and retrieved parts and fixed. All in 40 minutes time. Much appreciated as temp was 98-102 at 5:30 when we arrived. Park has a nice pool areas and a restaurant on site. We did not eat there but have in the past. We did not use WiFi but Verizon worked well. We would stay here again. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Porkerville Market directly across street. Has everything needed. Good meat counter. Dine at Taste in Plymouth! Wine Spectator: One of the top 100 Wine restaurants in the country and is 2018 Award of Excellence. Zagat rated as one of the best in Sacramento area. Town of Amador 3-5 miles away. Imperial Hotel also great food. Sutter Creek is just 2 more miles away. Fun place to shop. Much more to do, Jackson, Jackson Rancheria Indian Casino are a few more miles away.

Nicely maintained park, lots of mature trees provided good shade. Water pressure was good, electrical pedestal was in good condition with secure receptacles. Picnic tables in great condition. We stayed in a space that backed up to the pond, so there was ample room behind us so we didn't feel too crowded. The roads and pads are asphalt, however, there are grassy medians between the sites that provide a nice space between neighbors. Although the website states "campfires," be sure to bring your own fire pit/container as there are no fire rings at the site and none to rent. If you enjoy wine tasting, or want to try wine tasting, there are two great tasting rooms, Amador 360 and 24 Brix that are 5 minute drives. Overall, this is a nice park, with modern amenities, yet still has a bit of a rustic outdoors feel. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice place. We reserved for a week but decided to add a few days and ended up staying 10 days. Like most RV Parks it could use more a little more work on the grounds such as cutting long grass, some touch up painting, some pavement patching, etc. But on the whole this is a fairly well maintained facility. We used two of the bath houses for showers. The shower handles in one bath house did not work (just spun around) but it was easy enough to walk to another bath house. The shower stalls could use a vigorous brushing with a stiff brush on ground-in grime but for the most part the buildings are kept clean. Some of the sites are level while others have quite a slope. There are quite a lot of full time or long term guests here but with a couple of exceptions, they are neat and tidy. There are two ponds and a few mallards wandering around. There are signs asking people not to feed bread but that there is free duck feed at the store. Small out door pool and an inflated cover over another pool. Hot tub too but we did not use them. Lots of trees here which we like to see and the shade is helpful during hot days. The picnic tables are metal frames with heavy plastic top and benches which is a lot better the usual wood with splits and chipped stain/paint. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beautiful rolling countryside to take a scenic drive. This is near Sutters Creek where gold was discovered and lead the famous California gold rush. There is a museum about it nearby. Quite a few wineries in the area but we did not visit any. Across the street from the RV park is an excellent independent grocery called Pokerville Grocery. (Plymouth's original name in the gold rush days was Pokerville.) Don't let the outside discourage you. It's very good.

This is an older park with nice mature tree that provide the much needed shade and have adequate RV clearance. Where I have a problem is with the management. Using the Sun Resorts website, we reserved 2 sites for 4 days back in May . When we arrived the 2 sites were far apart. they spent some time looking at the schedule and the best they could do was move one of us to 3 spaces down and across the street. Then they told us that the bill was for the full amount. I asked about out $140 deposit that we made and they said there was no record of a deposit. We finally logged on to our bank account and took a snapshot showing the deposit payment. They then honored the deposit. We set up on our site and our friends set up three spaced down and across the street. During our entire stay there was no one in either site next to us. The transition to Sun Resorts has degraded the park in my opinion. Sun removed most of the signs and décor that suggested the "old west" character. I would also suggest the NO ONE use the Sun Resorts website. Call directly to the park for reservations. I agree that the park ratings seem higher than it should be given the conditions we found. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This is basically a weekend warrior campground with permanent residents scattered about after the weekend warriors are all gone. My understanding is this is now owned corporate instead of by locals, which kind of makes sense because a lot of times when that happens they come in they raise the prices, but make minimal upgrades and that is definitely the case here. We stayed here a lot back in the early 90s, mid 90s and early 2000's, and I can tell you this other than the grass getting mowed, none of electrical boxes have been upgraded, sewer still the same, pretty much minimal TLC which is too bad. Roads are still the same, in fact worse, because nothing's been done to basically asphalt patched potholes. Another thing I have a big problem with is they took full payment from me for a week - three weeks in advance, with no refund within 14 days of my arrival date. This is wrong, totally wrong. In fact I don't even know if it's legal, They really don't divulge this 'til after they've taken all your information, your payment, and then they still don't tell you until you ask. Had this not been a week that we just needed to get away, I would've told them to cancel . As far as the area, beautiful area, lots of wineries. It is a nice place to come visit. It's just too bad the park has not gotten a good maintenance upgrade schedule intact, because they have tripled ,their prices but nothing has been fixed or taken care of - too bad. Also, we only had 30 amp which is what I requested, but for a weekly price this was ridiculous. Can't tell you if I will come back, but if convenience is the factor then I probably will come back. This does not deserve the higher rating it seems to get. It is a pleasant place but in bad need of maintenance. All interior roads including the paved sites need to be resurfaced. The sides are not level and nearly every larger rig we saw had to put extra blocks under their Jack's to be able to level. I expect this in a state park or a lower ranking less expensive part but not a park that commands the kind of prices that this one does. Picnic tables are very old and need replacing. Ours had a burn hole in it we would not sit down.

This seems like a great campground for children and families. With a little bit of money and maintenance, new tables and re-surfaced roads, leveled and resurfaced sites, this would be an outstanding Park. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.
