Beautiful campground; huge sites with lots of space. Lovely lake but sketchy swimming unless you're hardy. Pontoon rentals were a good deal! Helpful and friendly couple at he check-in; very knowledgeable. Bathrooms clean but no soap at washbasins - not unusual but a shame. Ever heard of hepatitis? Gorgeous sunsets every nite we were there. 10 miles or so to town. The first few days we had no Verizon cell/internet service - none. But on our last day phones worked as did our MiFi device. Good signal! Go figure. We camped at Tule COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you like to walk, go straight out of the park and (carefully) across highway 190. The rolling blacktop road that heads away from the lake has minimal traffic.

Stayed 2 weeks in #23 in 35" motorhome - self contained motorhome so cannot comment on cleanliness of restroom facilities. Water and Electrice with dump station. Pros - Very large, oversized sites - lots of distance between sites on northside campground area, beautiful views of lake. - Good location to Sequoia National Monument and Park. Can access Farmers Market in Vasalia in 30 minutes. - Great bird watching in the area including Golden Eagles. - Site was level and spacious - water was nearby and we were connected the entire 2 week stay. Cons - Road noise, very close to busy road. But good news is almost no traffic at night. - Was difficult if not impossible to get Verizon or T-Mobile. Once in a while we got a signal with our booster. - We were surprised to find out that the smokey type visibility was not a forest fire but instead pollution. Given our heavy reliance on the internet we probably wouldn't stay again. We camped at Tule COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed for a couple of nights. The campground was about 20-30% occupied. Power was good, but had to run water from about 60 feet away. The picnic tables have a cover. The site was not very level and required quite a bit of leveling materials. The rangers are not around very often and noise at night from other campers...somebody in a pickup truck with loud mufflers was annoying. We would probably stay there again. We camped at Tule COE in a Travel Trailer.

We visited during the low season and almost had the park to ourselves; only a few other rigs. It was very quiet and in a nice setting. Power was adequate. Staff seldom on site; the main office was closed during our entire stay (three weeknights). A fair number of fishermen but at the other end of the park. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, lots of waterfowl at this time of year. A bit of road noise but not bad at all. Overall, we'd certainly come back. We camped at Tule COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park is a hidden jewel! Normally $30 but only $15 with your Federal Discount Pass (America The Beautiful etc). Clean as can be, lots of employees taking care of it. You can book online but we just showed up and stayed for four nights. 50 amp pull through sites with water. Beautiful view over a lake. No trees that disrupt satellite. Do not expect your cellphone to work (ATT does work sometimes). This is right at the foot of the Sequoia National Forest which is just up the road. The RV park was 95% empty and I was shocked. This should be a target destination for everyone! We camped at Tule COE in a Motorhome.

Very nice COE campground. Quiet when we were there with only a few other units. Had 50 amp elec and water hook-up. Used dump station upon leaving. Lake is low, but will rise again eventually. Had no Verizon coverage for our hot spot, but a bar or two for AT&T cell. Would definitely stay here again!! We camped at Tule COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the most neglected COE campgrounds we've visited. The grass isn't cut often enough. Water spigots are as much as 40' from the sites. No speed limits are posted and drivers (including rangers and lake patrol) tend to speed through the campground. Park Rangers are indifferent and do not make eye contact. The check-in system needs help. Having said all that, the campground is laid out well, has spacious sites and fairly new amenities, including covered picnic tables. Our rate reflects our Golden Age 50% discount. We camped at Tule COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Lake Success is pretty dry as are most of the lakes in this region during the winter. However, the California department of fish and game posts fishing reports/releases which makes this a popular spot for fishers. There is a restaurant/bar and boat launch here. I did not visit the bar it looks kind of rough to take kids to but OK for adults. The day camp area was under construction when I came but the small play ground was accessible and open. This is great for kids. Looks like there is a shower/water play area during the summer as well. Power and water hook ups are available at the southern loop. The north loop was closed I'm not sure what’s up there. I dry camped so I'm going based on what the lakes website shows when I say 15 amp only. The power was suppose to have been turned off according to the ranger I called (for the off season) as well as the water but I noticed a 5er hooked up to the power. You do get a little highway noise from 190 here and it’s probably worse in the north loop but it didn't keep us up at night. If you’re in to fishing, traveling with a family I think this is a great spot to stop. I’m a local so I was surprised at the quality of the campground given its location. It’s pretty close to an Indian gaming casino as well. We camped at Tule COE in a Travel Trailer.

It's a really neat place to camp if you like fishing, boating or just to getaway from everyday life. The bathrooms are available in most areas of the park along with dumpsters. There are plenty of picnic tables everywhere with barbecue grills. It can get pretty hot in the summer due to very little shading. Surrounded by the foothills of the Sierra mountains with a nearby gas station and Springville just a few miles to the east. There is a playground in the middle of the park. I've stayed 5 nights and enjoyed it. I will definitely return again to camp. We camped at Tule COE in a Travel Trailer.
