Just a couple additions to the other reviews. WiFi worked good in site #29. The lodge does not take credit or debit cards so take cash or write a check. So of the trees could us some trimming. Good Verizon 4g service and if you have an on-board satellite dish park on the west end. - StarlifterFE
Jun 2017 - $20.00
This was an adequate place to park while visiting friends nearby. The main campground is a large, level gravel parking lot with treed sites along three sides. There is a common BBQ area with picnic tables, but nothing at the sites. The campground host and everyone in the Lodge were very welcoming. We had strong 30 amp service that ran our A/C and one other appliance without problems. Good water pressure. Good, easily accessible dump. There are many trains, but no noise from the apartments as reported earlier, perhaps because it was hot. It's best to approach from the east so that you can make an wide left turn into the west entrance. - Mingo Papa
Jun 2017 - $20.00
This is a gravel parking lot, but it did have 30 amp electric and good water pressure. It said there was wifi, but none showed up at our site. The people were very friendly in the lodge, but other than a place to park, it was noisy (lots of trains in the night) and abuts next to an apartment complex were people were throwing firecrackers in the lot and lots of trash just being thrown near their dumpsters. There were no sewer hookups, but a convenient dump station. A satisfactory place to park, but nothing fancy. - Ginny H

We've stayed at the A V Fair Grounds RV Park several times. The Park is Big Rig friendly, with full hook ups. Unfortunately, the park has gone downhill! There is no management on the premises during the day! And when they are on site they ignore what's going on in the park. Park rules state "Temporary Residence Only, with a maximum stay of 21 consecutive days"; in reality most spaces are occupied by "long term" residents! The sheriff was on site 3 of the first 5 days we were in the park. The sheriff was called to the park twice for actions of a single resident, chasing him with tasers! The washroom security codes have been compromised by the local homeless population that use the facilities. RVs park across the street from the park in the desert and the occupants walk across the street to use the facilities. One long term park resident, who was parked adjacent to the East Center Dog Run, turned the run into their private dog park. They strung metal wires between poles and tied their 3 large dogs up to the leads and left them unattended. Other dog owners could not use the run! When the occupants relocated they left dog feces everywhere... And again, the "Park Manager" drives past this daily! Park Rules state "no outside storage", one trailer has an old couch behind it. A 'Long Term" resident sleeps on the couch at night! The number of vehicles that show up after dark, parked across the street from the park, is concerning... I called the Sheriff the morning I found a driver slumped behind the wheel of a pickup!! Later that afternoon, that same pickup was parked at the restroom facilities with the driver inside using the facilities! This park has become DANGEROUS due to a complete lack of management oversight! If the park management doesn't exert control over the park and begin enforcing park rules, someone is going to be injured or worse! This is really a shame because this was once a very nice little park. - Stealth01
Apr 2018 - $30.00
Posted rates are incorrect. Seems all sites are now min $30. Way too many 'permanent' longterm residents. Onsite management is non-existent. Not too bad for an overnighter, would consider again if desperate. It's just a concrete parking lot with service islands. - Nevada Nick
Mar 2018 - $30.00
We came for the LA County Air show so it was pretty full but the manager still got us into a FHU, 50amp site for our 42' MH. The air show is just a couple of miles away and some folks just put chairs in the field outside the park to watch. Spring for the fifteen bucks or whatever it was for the show. The RV park is just a converted parking lot next to the fairgrounds. Good overnighter or for whatever else might bring you to the area. Good value, clean, and safe. - Odyssey

Note: For Elks member use only. This is an older Elks lodge, but overall their RV park is nothing fancy but serviceable. There are approximately 21 pull-through sites, most of which should be able to accommodate a total length of about 60 feet. I think 14 of the pull-through sites have concrete pads to park on, with the rest of the RV park being gravel. Most of the pull-throughs have bi-directional hookups (pull in either way). In addition to the pull-through sites, there are plenty of back-in and parallel parking sites. I can't imagine this park ever being completely full. There are no full-hookup sites but a sewer dump is located on site. During our stay the voltage was good and water pressure was 80 psi. Both Verizon and AT&T had weak but usable LTE signals. Upon arrival, register with the friendly and helpful campground host, who's site is marked. We'll definitely stay here again. - Gyropilot

Having read one of the other reviews, I thought this park can't possibly be that bad. Guess what: it is! The sites themselves have no shading or landscaping. Our electricity went off twice during our stay. The showers are abhorrent: literally an inch deep in crane flies and other bugs in the toilets and showers. We stayed only because we had forgotten about the July 4th holiday and every other place close by was full. When you go into the office to complain, they shrug their shoulders, or as one staffer said to me, "Lady, we make minimum wage. We've been through four owners in three years and there's not much we can do about anything." If you can't find another park, look for the nearest Wal-Mart. - Puglady
Jun 2010 - $40.00
We stayed here last year, and it was really nice. It's a different story now. The pool & spa were closed M-Th (even though the temp was in the 90's), the game room was closed due to vandalism (with no date set for re-opening), the laundry room floor had a carpet of dead insects on it (disgusting), weeds and trash are all around, and large rain-made gouges in the dirt made for an uneven RV pad. Plus, the rates have gone up $20.00 a night from our last stay! The good things: the Pro Shop clerk was EXTREMELY helpful and nice, and the Wi-Fi was adequate. The only reason we'll stay here again is that it's close to our relatives and friends. - OTR again
Nov 2009 - $10.00
Since the last review this place is on the upswing. There is a lot of work being done here. I was told someone else took over the resort. We saw at least 30 fairly new golf carts. There is a lot of work ongoing. They are planting trees, putting in large drainage swells and grading etc. This park will be a 9 or 10 when complete. There is a new laundry and a club house. The small pond is filled, so you can use the paddle boats. We were there for 5 days and 2 were windy. But this is canyons and desert and is very common all over southern CA. There is Wi-Fi in the clubhouse. Our Verizon cell phone was very very week and our air card just worked. The hot tub and lap pool were heated. - BLT101

To start, the back of our 43 foot fiver dragged turning into (and out of) the entrance from the road. They wanted copies of our trailer and truck registration and insurance as well as our drivers licenses. Navigating the roads was not too hard. The solar panel supports are y'all enough to clear even the biggest rigs. Turning into our site was very tight and required some finesse. Site was fairly level. Water pressure 42lbs. Clear LOS for Sat TV. Power was nominal. WiFi is so slow to be almost useless. Not acceptable in the 21st century. The hillside between sites is large loose gravel on plastic. My wife stepped on it and ended up sliding down to the next pad and falling. Luckily she was not injured. It's a hazard that should be fixed. There was one tree on our site that was forward and became a hazard when we pulled out. The power/sewer/water connections were at the back which made for long sewer runs with our rig. We had to park our tow vehicle in the monthly parking above the pool. There was a small dog run above the Poole with a sand base. Not much fun for the dog. - BBGuy
Oct 2018 - $38.00
I was drawn to this place by the photos posted of green grass. Caveat: there is NO GREEN GRASS! It's being replaced by cheaper-to-maintain but depressing to look at gravel that's a slip hazard for seniors and made me feel sorry for the kids and dogs. And the view of the beautiful mountains? Now blocked by huge ugly structures to hold solar panels. Not surprisingly, it's not a "resort" either. I expect an RV resort to be a destination stop, with entertainment, a restaurant or two, special features, maybe a casino. Here you get no cable TV (hookup is there, but they're no longer offering it) and wi-fi that doesn't work (I ended up tethering to my phone that was getting one bar of Verizon). There are no picnic tables or fire rings at the sites and no place to walk the dog but a dirt strip around the perimeter. Having said that it's probably fine for an overnight stop if you just need to do your laundry and shower. The staff in the office are pleasant. The pull-through sites are close to level and there is just enough room between sites to feel a little privacy. The restroom/showers are modern and spotless. There is a store with a few things you might need. There is a very nice pool and spa, although there are no umbrella tables and so no relief from the sun poolside. But whether it's the solar panel structures, the gravel, or the lack of picnic tables, the campground has a sterile, off-putting vibe. People tend to cocoon inside their rigs instead of socialize. I would have blamed it on the World Series, but it was like a ghost town at all hours. We arrived on a Friday and left on Sunday and I saw one person at the pool and two at the spa the whole weekend. Not a fun place. - KathrynB

I'm adjusting my review from March 2018. We had been staying in this park for almost a year with our 2 dogs. In April we were given 30 days to get out or get rid of one of our dogs. One of our dogs barked at someone, and yes she was on a leash and controlled. We had not had any prior issues. Needless to say we left the park. We were not going to get rid of our pet that we've had for 8 years. The park itself is decent. We were lucky enough to have a nice wide site. It fit our 40 ft. MH and we were able to fit our Jeep if parked sideways in front of the coach. We could also fit another car on the side next to the MH. I'm not sure about the electrical problems unless it has to do with the solar panels that were just installed, we didn't have any issues while we were there other than the power being shut off during the installation (which we were notified of in advance). I have to agree with other posters that the office staff is horrible. You have to move every 6 months. We had told the office on 2 occasions that we wanted to hold a site as we knew the people were leaving. They said they would put our name on it and twice they gave it away to someone else. It reminded me of high school. If you're not in the "clique" then they are rude and not helpful. There is no dog area or playground and the "store" is very small. I wouldn't really call it a store. Laundry room only takes quarters and you need to get them at the office. No change machine. - eurodl

If you like dust and dirt, this may be the place for you. It appears there may have been grass throughout the park at one time, but that is no more. Now, when the wind blows, so does the dirt. Sites are large and a lot of them are pull-throughs making them easy to get into. Lots of long-term residents live in this park, including families. Our Verizon MiFi did not work here and you had to pay to use the park's wifi up at the lodge. We ended up going to McDonald's to use their free wifi one afternoon. AT&T cell phones worked fine as did Dish satellite. A train track runs next to the park, but the noise wasn't frequent at night, so it didn't really keep us from sleeping. - Bobbi1948

First of all, the booklet I received about the Thousand Trails facilities impressed me because I remembered I had visited a few of these campgrounds in the 80s and were nice. However, my visit today was not what I expected. The place is run down, unkept, shabby and unorganized. The only decent area is the entrance building with a very well kept green piece of grassy area. The spaces are a mess and many, I mean many do not have working electricity or the boxes are broken or taped off with marker scribbles. We counted over 30 just as we drove around looking for a spot. The workers were non existent. The volleyball area is full of weeds as is the tennis area. There is no assigned space to you, it's first come basis and some people were taking up 2 spaces and tents were camping in full hookup RV spots. We could not allow our kids to walk alone to any the pool, rec room or bathrooms! There was a whole area that was closed off and the second parking area was just disgusting. To ge honest, I did not feel safe whatsoever. Then the catalog says WiFi yet we had none and even when we paid for it- it never worked! The BBQ pits are in disrepair and the tables are so old and broken. There is nothing nice about this place and it is disheartening that the wonderful place I remember as a young girl is completely gone. I will not be back and suggest you don't either! This place is a complete mess! - Silvarado

We have been going here for many years, each year it gets worse than the year before. It has always been mismanaged by 1000 trails, they should sell it to someone that will bring it back to it's glory years when everything in the park worked as it was suppose to. I was so upset with the decline in the condition back when I visited on Easter weekend 2015 that I contacted them with my true feelings. I was contacted by e-mail from one of their Admin. assistants telling me about their great 2 year plan to upgrade each site to 50 amp going section by section. Well we went on Easter weekend again 2019, 4 years later and not only have they not upgraded a single site to 50 amp, they now have 100 or more sites that had 30 amp electric in 2015, that do not have any electric now. Section B according to there park map has 170 RV sites, only 58 of those 170 have 50 amp service, 88 of them do not have any electric whatsoever, but they did in the past. Section C, no 50 amp at all 15 with no electric at all. Section K, no 50 amp at all, 62 sites with no electric at all. Section M, no 50 amp. Section N, No 50 amp, 20 sites with no electric at all. Section Q, no 50 amp, 33 sites no electric at all. Oh, forgot section A and P, no 50 amp. Keep in mind they only have sections A, B, C, K, M, N, Q, AND P. You figure someone would label them A thru H to eliminate confusion. So bottom line, they have not added a single 50 amp site since the e-mail in 2015 but eliminated electric from 218 sites in that time. Great management!!!!! On top of the electric issues, the common areas are a total mess, the dump site by area B is a joke and not maintained. They I guess had some Easter activities, but was never informed in person or by pamphlet when I checked in on Thursday. I actually talked to a person, the one time I saw someone at the gate, I asked what the managers name was so I could contact them, and get this - they do not currently have a manager. I am sadly done with this Easter tradition. - alhebb

The staff was very friendly and helpful. One of them even drove me around in the golf cart to check the available sites and pick the best one for my rig. The pool was great, clean and perfect temperature. They even have a night security guy at the entrance, nice to have even though this seems like a very safe area. The store was very well stocked with a good variety of items. They have a shelf full of dvd's for free loan. They have outside movies projected on Friday and Saturday night. The site was very large and easy to get into. The wifi was good all day and into the night. For some reason the wifi never worked in the waking hours, but always started up shortly after sun up. I use a EMS (electrical management system) and monitor my voltage very closely. The 50 amp service needs to be upgraded. During peak hours of the day one leg consistently dropped to 104 volts, the other leg had no such drops. Mid week when the park was less full the voltage didn't drop as much. There is a train track very close to the park. It seems some engineers blast the horns to upset the campers. Many trains didn't blast the horns. There is no grade crossing that I could find that would require blasting the horn. We slept fine leaving the fan on our roof air to drown out the train horns. The park clearly has no control over the train engineers so this shouldn't be held against the park. There is also almost no Sprint cell signal, again not the fault of the park owners. The ground is dry and dusty, high desert. Not the fault of the park owner. - Bob86ZZ4
Aug 2017 - $50.00
This large campground is located on Soledad Canyon Road between Palmdale and Santa Clarita. There are mostly back in sites with some pull through sites as well as tent areas. Typical of a KOA there are lots of facilities to keep the kids happy with playgrounds and a pool. Otherwise the campground is just a lot of dirt and dust. The driveways are pot holed and rough. A railroad track runs through the back of the property with frequent horn blowing Metro Link trains. There are lots of mature trees on the property that offer at least the possibility of getting some shade. We only spent one night here in a back in site on dirt with 50 amp electric, water and sewer. There is free WiFi which we were able to use in the evening when we arrived but disappeared the next morning. The bathrooms were OK, reasonably clean. On the plus side, the manager stopped by our site in the morning and asked if everything was OK with our site. This rarely happens in RV parks. We paid $50 per night. - Coopsecondact
May 2017 - $50.00
Don't be fooled, this is a fine dirt park, sand-like. Clouds of dust blowing getting into every crack and crevice. Now if you love the burned out canyon scenery, mostly treeless campground, then this is for you. I am not saying anything negative about the service levels...just dusty, dirty and windy. We could not get into our site, #32 which looked fairly new, because of a sand drift about 50' in front of the back-in area. I was not going to even try it and get stuck. So we did not stay and requested our weeks rents back. We are full timers and are appreciative of honest reviews, as this is. We travel in a 43' Motorhome with a towed. - Lost in America Tour

This was an awful experience. After driving in horrid traffic I finally arrived here only to be told they were sold out. I had paid a deposit online when I made my reservation, and they had that. Apparently when you call them you get the owner who lives in another state. He has no idea how much room they have available. Why the park itself doesn't take calls is ridiculous. The couple who actually run the place were great, and got me a place down the road. It's not their fault they are stuck with a ridiculous system. - Lynn C

We USED to LOVE Edwards - when it was run by experienced staff. Nowadays it's run by kids who don't camp. We pulled into a mostly empty park and found a spot. We got all step up and went to plug the RV in only to discover the electric box was locked so we hooked into the one next to us. We though about moving but my severely disabled husband was already exhausted and helping set up had taken the last bit of energy he had. I'm disabled too so was right there with him. The sign said to pay at the 'common area'. We walked around the bathrooms looking for a sign that said 'common area'. We asked base security, the commissary and anyone else we could find. No one knew where the common area was. We finally went to Outdoor Rec but were sent back to the park. We finally found a young woman sitting in the weight room watching tv and playing on her phone. We asked why the power was locked at our site and were told many of the sites had no power. She treated me like I was an idiot for not knowing that the weight room was the common area and that half the sites lacked power. We had to pay for both sites so it cost us $50 a night to stay there. While we were there, we warned several other campers who pulled in and started setting up about the power problems and helped them find working sites. We also had other campers knocking on our door asking where the 'common area' was so apparently we're not the only so-called clueless campers she had to deal with. Tips for Edwards to make this a decent place to stay again. 1). Call the 'common area' what it is or post a sign on the door saying 'common area'. 2). Accept RV site payments at Outdoor Rec again. 3) Post a sign at the partially closed sites that say 'No Electricity'. 4) Try to find people who actually camp to run the RV park because they would understand all of the above instead of rolling their eyes. - Travelfish
Dec 2017 - $20.00
My husband, retired AF Major, and I have been blessed to travel our beautiful country and stay, as often as we can, on military bases. I have to say Edwards FamCamp is an embarrassment to our military. About 1/2 of the have spots have locks on the electric boxes (a fellow camper said they are having electric problems) A helpful tip would be to post on the box OR just put the picnic table across the spot. We saw quite a few people, spending precious time driving spot to spot to find one that is operational. Second, the entire campground looks like it's in a third world country. Bathroom facilities filthy, trash full and no one has used a rake around here for months. And, it wouldn't surprise me that it's not making any money, since the phone is never answered and on-site there is NO paperwork available to self pay. Very disappointed. - 1965Streamline
Jul 2017 - $20.00
RVers beware, if you park in spots 11-20 you may not have enough power to run AC when hot. Circuit Breaker trips the whole line. Outdoor rec is aware of problem and they told me that they will block some of the sites which they did, however, an RVer moved the cone and parked there anyway. Was told by old camp host it was ok. Civil Engineering has also told outdoor rec not to use all spots on that line because circuit breaker over heats and could cause a fire. Reason for poor rating outdoor rec not doing their job. - Mark 100
