This was a bit of a surreal campground. It was right next to I-5. It was laid out in parallel pull-through sites on concrete. It looked like a more up-scale highway motel complete with a large club room with fireplace and pool. All in all a strange place that was far from my image of camping. If it were not for constant highway noise through the night, it might have been ok. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Tent Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here numerous times over the past several years. It was always perfect. However, this time it was much different. Pool was very cloudy and needed a good cleaning. The grounds were unkempt by way of numerous weeds, sad looking lawns, a few dead trees, and the fountains need some real attention. The back wall of the main clubhouse needs cleaning and painting-numerous dead bugs around all light fixtures. Overall it appears that there has been a severe lapse of maintenance to the entire facility. Plastic picnic tables were cracked and need replacement. It was a 10/10/10 over a year ago but now I wouldn't score it over a 7 or 8. Too bad. Hopefully the owners will invest some money to bring it back in shape. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 1 night passing through the area.

The park is a short drive from I-5 (Exit 649) along paved roads. The intersection of Antelope & East Ave. is pitched making the turn interesting. And East Ave. is a rather narrow residential road.

The sites are a mixture of back-ins and pull-throughs. There was an escort to the site. There seemed to be extended stay sites. This park understands the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level site, as the sites were level and flat. No fire pits, as wood burning is not permitted since the park is located in the city limits, but there were natural gas fire pits at common areas around the park. Curbside garbage pickup.

There are a few trees scattered around the park so satellite reception would be dependent upon site assignment and your dish configuration. The park brochure showed about 61 cable channels but made no mention of broadcast channels. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels.

The park provided WiFi was good but occupancy was low. However, service slowed during a strong wind. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about the reception.

The designated fenced pet areas were on either side of the park. They had a dirt surface. There was a bag dispenser and waste collection station in the fenced pet area and around the park for waste. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park roads. There was a fee for the pet wash.

Although the park was right along I-5, there was limited traffic noise. However, there were some train noises and a civil war reenactment (cannon fire) nearby. The walking trail along the river went under I-5 and there were some transient camps in the area.

The clubhouse, pool & hot tub amenities and park's appearance made this a pleasant stop over. However, the landscape needed some attention as there were weeds growing everywhere. We would stay here again and consider it for an extended stay site. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Really no bad sites. We prefer the pull-throughs for short stays but would consider a back-in (#2-13 along the southern edge but there might be some satellite obstruction, 76-96 along the 3 fountain ponds or 70-75 & 97-101 along the river) for an extended stay. There is a mobile detailing service available to wash your RV.

Date of Stay: May, 2009 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place but they are very picky. Extra charge of $3 per person for over 2 people which gets too expensive for families with teens. The monthly rate is way too high at $525 plus electric which can cost a lot in summer where it gets over 100 degrees regularly. The worst looking site with too much stuff outside belongs to an employee which is odd because no one else could get away with that. We stayed for a month but wouldn't stay that long again. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
