A very nice park and well maintained. Close and convenient to I-5. Some road noise but not objectionable. Lots of trees but we were able to get satellite coverage. Verizon worked well. Wifi did not work. We could not load an internet page nor check email. We have stayed here before for an overnight and will again if in the area. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

It was 106 degrees when we arrived at this resort. Very clean resort with lots of shade. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Sites in the center of the resort are terraced with lots of shade and cement pads for your rig. All sites are full hookup and there is a small grassy area with a picnic table in between sites. There is a fenced in dog park area with pea gravel for the dogs to run around in. My only complaint about this resort is in this area. The furniture they provide for owners to sit on while their dogs play is very dilapidated, dirty and falling apart. I talked to the staff about this. She told me they gave up putting out decent furniture for people to sit on while their dogs played as people let their dogs chew on it and do other things to destroy it. Not to mention people do their own fair share to destroy it. The resort leaves the furniture out all year long. So it goes from snow cold to furnace hot which is also hard on the longevity of the furniture. I would suggest they look into steel benches around the perimeter like you could find in public parks. Dogs and people will have a hard time destroying it. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. They have a pool with salt water and a spa which are also well maintained. Every morning they have free Danish and coffee in the clubhouse. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling that direction. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

We've reviewed this park before but it has been a few years. Park is convenient from I-5 for an overnight stay. Quiet park with mature trees. Utilities worked well and in spite of the trees, satellite reception was easily achieved. Roads are a little narrow but doable in a 35' mh. Verizon signal was good. Sites are close but staggered so no problems with slides and utility location. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cost reflects weekly rate; we stayed here for 2 weeks. They have a $1/day extra charge for a dog. This is a nice little campground with very easy access to and from I-5. While it is close to the interstate, at mid-campground area where we were, the noise was not bad at all. The CG is on a bit of a hillside, so the sites are arranged in a terrace fashion, which worked well, and they have a reasonable amount of spacing. Most of the sites had a tree or 2 to provide shade. The CG is clean and well-maintained, with a number of what appear to be seasonal folks (or perhaps those who lost homes in recent wildfires, sadly) in sites around the edges. We had plenty of room to maneuver on the paved roads, and the concrete site pad was level. Space for parking your truck at site is limited. Their cable TV worked well, and Verizon signal was good. Only used their Wifi a couple times, but we were able to good and it was serviceable, but not fast. Nice laundry facility. While they have a fenced dog park and a bocce court, both looked pretty awful and not very usable...the dog park is basically all gravel and crushed stone. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Shasta-Trinity-Whiskeytown National Recreation Areas nearby, but be advised that Whiskeytown was 97% burned in the huge 2018 Carr wildfire and will be years to recover. Nice hiking trails in Shasta Lake area, but poison oak is *everywhere* so learn what it looks like. Check out the architecturally famous Sundial Bridge in Redding, a short way south on I-5. Sacramento River Trail is great paved bike trail between Shasta Dam and town of Redding.

Sanctuary. That's the word that comes to mind when describing this park. Tucked into the Cascade foothills with a verdant canopy of home grown trees, when parked in the shade after a long day on the road, it feels safe and secure. We stayed 2 nights and our rent reflects a Good Sam discount, plus $1/day for our dog. The CG appears well-maintained, clean and cared for. Site spacing is better than many and internal roads are paved. Each site has a picnic table and a swatch of healthy green grass. Office is exceedingly friendly and helpful. Despite the site pad being concrete, do not assume it is completely level; site 34 was not. Despite having cable TV, do not assume all stations are sharp; some are, some are not. Wi-Fi worked well and traffic noise was minimal. Utilities are center-located, in good condition and reliable. The park is well lit at night. The CG recycles and trash containers are never far away. Long-term residents are clean, neat and quiet. We enjoyed our short stay and would happily book a long-term visit using this park as a hub to take in the surrounding beauty. Nearby Redding offers and excellent opportunity to "stock-up" for an extended stay further north in the mountains. All the popular big-box stores, fuel and food are just minutes away. Just off I-5, access to the north is quick and easy. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice RV park, conveniently located just off I-5 north of Redding. It's close to the highway, but we didn't notice any road noise. Sites are level and reasonably spacious for a commercial park, with quite a few trees and other foliage. Staff is friendly and helpful. Everything is clean and well maintained. Our dog and I especially liked the fenced dog park, which had plenty of room for him to romp and chairs for me to sit in. We have camped here twice and had a good experience both times. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Our impression is that Mountain Gate RV Park is well-managed, safe, fairly-priced, heavily-treed in spots, and seems to attract a mix of over-nighters and long-term residents. It's located a few miles north of Redding - adjacent to busy I-5. Traffic noise is 24/7 for sites near the entrance to the park, but somewhat subdued for sites - up the hillside - at the park's rear. Interior lanes are blacktop and parking pads are concrete. In most instances, sites are adequately spaced - but not overly generous - with a bit of lawn between many sites. CG amenities include an outdoor pool with spa, on-site laundry building, and a welcoming front/office/store - with tourist/visitor info and a small selection groceries and camping supplies. Cable worked well. Our Verizon signal was 2-bars. We were able to use our DISH satellite, but heavy tree cover will limit satellite use at many sites. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are tiered and some are on the small size. We had to struggle to park our truck on the site and get it off the road. Tight fit! Close to I-5 but not too noisy. Easy on and off interstate. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Just north of Redding (couple miles), right on 5 next to the shasta lake info/fire fighter base camp. Great services, verizon works well. Local tv channels ok. Wifi was decent but we stream with our cell. Great location for Redding, Whiskeytown, Shasta Lake, Lassen and Burney falls. Very nice office staff, small but clean and convenient pool with spa. Park like setting with trees and character. They did a good job with paving, utilities and making it a nice experience. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great location with all the stuff to do in the area. Carr fire started while we were hiking in Whiskeytown national monument. There are great but long and difficult hikes to see many waterfalls. The lake is good for swimming and boating. Shasta Lake is bigger and more boating, the caves are convenient but commercial. Lassen Nat Monument wasn't worth the drive. Burney falls is a must. Easy 1 mile loop. Sundial in Redding and good farmers markets but expensive.

We were in site 74 (back in site) which sits on top of the hill in the park. We had plenty of room on either side of the coach. Easy access to the park from I-5. A bit of traffic noise when outside, but it was too hot to spend much time outside so we didn't really notice. Bathroom facilities were convenient and clean. AT&T signal was good. WiFi was above average. Convenient to Redding and Lake Shasta. Only two minor issues: 1 - We got two vouchers for wifi (one device each) and couldn't switch between devices. Cell signal was good enough so didn't need wifi for our phones which made this workable. 2 - The extra parking is in front of our site which made backing the 38' RV into the spot a challenge. Luckily when we got here some spots were empty which made it work. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice shady trees with concrete pads, and paved roads. The staff was very nice and even directed us to our site in his little cart. They have some gravel and grass around the concrete pad and a picnic table. Also they have a pool, spa, laundry and pet run. It's near the 5 so it gets noisy but we don't mind the white noise. Think of it as a rapid river. Nice to see some deer in the field. It's a very clean place. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed there 4 nights with our RV club. 10 rigs plus one cabin. The park management let us use the club room at no charge. Everyone was helpful and all our members enjoyed our stay. This is the 2nd year our club stayed and the 4th time we as individuals stayed. I recommend it. Park had cable, as so many trees didn't allow for Dish. We really loved this RV park, it had 120 terraced sites that were roomy with lovely bushes and trees separating each site. The WiFi and Cable (which even had HBO) were terrific. All the utilities were placed properly, each site also had a table, the sites were concrete. The owners took immaculate care of the park and were very helpful with our side trips we took. A must do is Lassen Volcanic National Park, Shasta Lake and Dam, And Whiskey Town. Redding has everything you would need in a very compact area. You can't go wrong with this park. Price reflects a weekly discount. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
