Sep 2018 - $22.00
We stayed at the end of September in the Iron Horse campground. Most of the sites (75%) were empty save for a few boaters. The sites are mostly level and very deep (50-60 feet) and there are several pull-through sites. The camp host is very friendly and even offered free firewood. Weather was perfect (low 80s), little or no wind, and no bugs. A few sites have great views of New Melones Lake. Little or no shade anywhere, but not a problem this time of year. - M_i_k_e_y
Aug 2018 - $25.00
This is a beautiful and peaceful campground right on the lake. We dry camped here. It is nice if you're self contained. The bathrooms were not available and they had port-a-potties by the restrooms. The water is great for swimming, fishing and boating, although they did have a problem with leaches when we were there, so just something to be aware of. The rangers and camp host are really nice and helpful. Lots of wildlife and beautiful area in California with a convenient store/ gas station at main road and grocery store in Angels Camp couple miles down the road with Redbox rentals and other goodies. - Runluv
Apr 2018 - $22.00
Camped in 35' motorhome in site #55. Pros - - Super quiet - can only hear the osprey, turkeys and other wildlife - Our space was level and spacious - space between sites is more than generous - Amazing views of the lake and forested areas. - Camp Host is super helpful - he and his wife work hard to keep the sites clean and all new campers greeted and settled. - Very reasonable cost - Lots of wildlife - from the nearby osprey nest to turkeys, deer and lots of other birds. - Very convenient to Emmett's Pass and Columbia Historic State Park. Cons - - No hookups though water faucets are all over. We don't care as we are self-contained but some may want electric and/or water. - Gina A

Miners Camp is 1 of 2 full hookups RV sites in Comanche Lake resort. We came in on Sunday of Memorial day weekend and had to book a minimum of 3 days. We made reservations over the phone and paid for the 3 days over the phone. When we arrived the attendant at the gate informed us we owed 30 dollars and I said no that we had prepaid. He said yes but there is a $5 a day charge for a dog and I had 2 small dogs. The employees at the gate entrance were friendly and courteous. The interior roads are paved and the sites seemed spacious enough and are paved about 15 feet in from the road and the rest is weeds. We were kind of in disbelieve from this point on. We had campsite 18 and literally had weeds waist high that were all over our site. All the short term campsites from 4 to 20 were vacant with waist high weeds. The electrical panel had thick cobwebs and black widow eggs with a live widow in it. The sewer hookup was elevated about 18 inches above ground which makes for some interesting drainage. The water was heavily chlorinated and smelled much like a swimming pool. There is no Wi-Fi or cell service . A very nice gentleman staying long term across the street I think felt sorry for us and had offered to let me use his lawn mower. Our little dachshunds did not like the tall weeds and we were concerned of fox tails going up their noses. We did not use our 3rd paid day; my wife's hay fever was acting up big time. A little maintenance would have gone a long way. The front office did offer to comp us one day. Needless to say I will not be back. - wolfman76

We have stayed here before. We come here with friends witch always makes for a good time. The park is very nice good level sites and if you can get a spot by the pond that's the best. One thing we don't like is paying for our pets. We always pick up after our dogs so Why?. - billspt
Feb 2013 - $48.00
An easy drive from the Sacramento area for a quick get-away. I have been coming here since I was a kid. The individual experiences have literally ranged from exceptional to downright miserable; depending on how you camp. Overally, Camanche does not have a lot of shade, even though you can find a few spots that have trees with great canopy. Even though the sites do have full hookups, the sites are primitive and can be slightly un-level. However, not nearly enough to be discouraging. The lake is nice; however, the level has consistently been lowering over the years. - Urbanthesis
Apr 2012 - $50.00
I stayed in the "South Shore" Monument RV section next to the Trout Pond at Lake Camanche. Destination campground, level asphalt sites, roomy and wide, a few with shade. Campground was clean with recycle bins. Sites had full-hookups, fire pits, and picnic tables. Pricey at $50 per night with no discounts; they charge an additional $9 reservation fee per site. Bring your own fire wood as it was $9 a bundle; marina store has a very limited supply of groceries. RV needs to be fully contained as there are no showers or restrooms in the Monument RV section. Showers and restrooms near the beach area were clean but old. No Wi-Fi internet in the campground; nearest WiFi is at the Starbucks in Valley Springs. We were able to get ten channels on our antenna TV. They charge a $4 per person, per day, fishing fee; purchase these as you enter at the Main Gate. - zigzag

May 2008 - $30.00
We stayed here three nights in a travel trailer. The description of the campground sounded nice, but when we arrived we should have turned around and left before registering. However, decided to stay since we were there and were sorry we did. Old campground with lots of permanent residents in the RV section, no restrooms or showers near the RV section, the lake level was so low we could not launch our kayaks, RV section was located away from the other camping area. Would not recommend this to anyone. - bobnrobin
Sep 2007 - $48.00
We stayed here on Labor Day weekend 2007 because it looked good in pictures and wasn't too far to drive. However, the majority of the RV campers were residents and were not on the friendly side. The kids got yelled at for riding their bikes around the camp too "noisily". The water in the swimming pond was scary and there was broken glass in the sand surrounding it. The playground was older than me! The only good thing is that the office staff was very helpful and nice. Regardless, we left first thing Saturday morning to go stay at another RV park. We will not stay here again unless the locals (aka: residents) change. - grtmomx3

Dec 2017 - $40.00
We had a good time because of the folks we were with. And it was close to Columbia--a very cool place to visit. Also, if you are in the area, make sure you visit Sonora. However, I cannot recommend the park for the following reasons: 1. Very, very, VERY run down. Nothing seemed in good repair. 2. Cable was "out" and there were no plans to repair it since it was too expensive. 3. The owner gave our phone number to another camper because the other camper thought one of our friends broke his tail light when leaving. This was a non kosher move. I had to leave our phone number as part of the check-in process. He had no business giving it out to another--for any reason. 4. Nothing but some folding chairs and an old pool table in the "clubhouse." 5. The only TV that was available was in the laundry room. 6. No fire pits, though that's OK since Calif is full of "no burn" days. 7. Wi Fi was non existent. Had to use my phone's hot spot for internet access. 8. The campground has trees in the middle of the road. They are pretty, but pose obstacles that make it a challenge to navigate around as we attempt to back in. - GilesScott
Aug 2017 - $42.00
.Maintenance is lacking in the park. This literally is in a quarry. All dirt sites. Lots of shade trees in bottom section, but few where we stayed. Nice desk folks. Would not stay here again . - Joyce Denke
Jun 2017 - $43.00
This park was average. Very quiet and peaceful, friendly staff. There was lots to see and do in the area. 30 amp was not adequate for required service. No maintenance was done during our entire stay, trash was overflowing, sites were not clean. With a little maintenance this could be a great park. - wolfman76

Very helpful staff. Friendly campers and well located for the Columbia State Historic Park. Close to Sonora and Jamestown. - Rocky 2
May 2018 - $40.00
We had a back in level spot. The staff helps you back in, so setting up on the narrow circle is not difficult. WI-FI worked well. AT&T works in park. The park provided hot dogs & chili on Friday night. Rigs are close together, all utilities work and the staff is very helpful. Location can't be beat. Use the directions on the website to get to the park. - travelcouple
Dec 2017 - $40.00
Our two sites were elevated and separated from other campers, so we had an excellent view (spotted several deer) with some privacy. Loved the free hot dogs on Friday night! The bathrooms were old but adequate. The fenced dog run is convenient and well-maintained. The park is clean and quiet with a friendly staff. Don't trust your GPS for directions. - Rusty_C

The difference between a privately run campground and a city/county park is obvious when entering the fairground CG. The park is self check-in with no assistance or help. The CG is confusing in its lay out and probably makes sense but not to us. Asphalt roads with all grass sites, the hook-ups are confusing. The grass had not been cut in weeks and lots of deferred maintenance. The location is quiet at night with good access to the city. Because of its location and lack of options in the area we would return. - sjones
Oct 2016 - $30.00
This place offers many different types of sites and utility options. We stayed in the area behind the grandstands had 50 amp with water and sewer. The site was fairly level with the open field in front that was rather bumpy to drive through. There are no views of anything, however lots of area to walk a dog. - illini777

Stayed in advance of the Strawberry Music Festival near Tuolumne, arriving on A Wednesday afternoon. First come-first served, envelope system for payment. Full hookups and wonderful water.
The upper RV sites are in shade and pretty level in an open, park-like setting. There were a few other campers nearby, all music festival attendees.
Fine place to camp: easily accessible off the highway and close to town for all our shopping needs in advance of a 4-day music event. - ReggieK

Sep 2018 - $40.00
This is a terrific little mountain RV park with great owners. I would give it 5 stars except for one TERRIBLE problem: Pine Sap! After just 2 days under these trees, my rig is literally drenched with it! Thousands of 1/4"+ blobs on EVERYTHING. My awning is probably ruined! You can't even walk around your rig without your shoe soles turning into clumps of pine/dirt, like asphalt. Ever try to remove pine sap? Its almost like epoxy. It will take days of hard work to clean up this mess, and even then, I'm sure there will be permanent damage. I've RV'd all over the USA and never faced this. Sadly, I'll not return here because of this.....:-( If you like cleaning pine sap, by all means stay here!!! - Captain Gort
Jun 2018 - $31.00
Park is in a beautiful setting, the air smells so fresh. Sites are a little tight but manageable. Take your time manuerving through the park. Staff is very helpful and friendly. They had a 'communal' fire pit which was nice as we were able to meet new people and our firepit was kind of in the way for our neighbor. There are some locals using the park as a weekend retreat and we found then and the atmosphere to be friendly. We used the site as a home base to visit Big Trees State Park, Yosemite National Park and South Lake Tahoe. We felt lucky as a local band showed up at the park on Friday to 'practice' and they also played at Camp Connell.....what a treat! - locatjl
Aug 2016 - $38.00
This park has recently been upgraded and cleaned up. The new owners do an amazing job keeping it clean and all the campers following the rules. This is a beautiful park and the views around the edges are awesome. It also has a pool with is a great addition. When we were there it was very quiet and not many sites filled but come Friday afternoon the families that has leased spaces all started showing up and it made for a very busy park. We headed out to explore quite a bit, golfed at Forest Meadows 2 days and spent a afternoon at Big Trees which is 2 miles before the RV park. There is no WiFi or TV reception so be prepared to be off the grid while camping here. We will totally be back very soon. - RVKat

Under new management the park is pretty much the same except for more cabins and wifi is now excellent. The park is still best used during the week for it gets crowded on weekends. - Bill Barnes

Stopped over for a few days visiting friends in the area. Very quiet, wide spacious sites with some shade. We stayed after Labor Day mid week, but can see where this could be a busy, family friendly park. All-in-all very satisfied. - Travlnpj

We have been to this park several times. This park is now owned by Sun Resorts and the daily rate seems to be skyrocketing! Extra charge for guests, their car, etc. cabins available as well. - OBZRV2
